  1. They're not shipping Lego to Australia - only the Brickmaster books (which I guess classify as books rather than toys). Sorry to disappoint.
  2. No point asking if there aren't any left... besides I collect to build and play, not to leave things sealed in a box or resell (although I do usually keep the boxes). I can report the Myers in the ACT seem to have been completely looted - no QARS, Flagships, London Bridges etc to be found (although Belconnen still had a solitary MF left on Saturday). Hell, even the ridiculously underwhelming Ewok Attacks have started to move!
  3. I picked up my QAR today from Myer but the idiot shop assistant tore off the hold ticket so quickly she tore a sizeable chunk out of the top of the box...not a big deal I guess but annoying if I ever end up wanting to sell it. I toyed with buying Ewok Attack as well but that tree is just so hideous I couldn't bring myself to do it even for $34...
  4. In my experience Myer One members can get the extra 10% off all Lego items, not just the ones in the catalog - at least I managed to get it earlier this year off the Battle of Endor during a similar sale.
  5. It looks ok, but it would be nice to see more detailed shots. On the basis of this shot, I think I fancy the QAR a bit more. A shame the kraken couldn't make it either but I guess that would have been too much for the piece count. As to the minifig selection, is there another wave of POTC sets coming this year? It may be some of the "original" crew (either Barbossa's or Jack's) will appear in other sets at that stage.
  6. I just built this on the weekend, and I have to say that aside from the beautiful Dragon Knight, I was pretty disappointed. I guess it's a reasonable army builder, but the least said about the structure (a prison cell with a hole in the roof? How is that supposed to work?) and the horrible "siege weapon" the better.
  7. I prefer flesh-covered heads and the detail on some of the POTC minifigs and models is superb, so I guess I'm going to vote for that, even though I would prefer flesh-covered generic pirates with some of the advances made in the POTC theme (eg scabbards). Maybe in the future?
  8. As far as I know they will be exclusive to Toyworld for a month or two and then more widely available. I got the cheapest two sets as even if I wait to get them from a 20% off sale or order overseas the savings won't be too great, whereas I felt for the two larger sets it was worth waiting as the savings will be more substantial.
  9. I recently acquired a MISB copy of Race for the Stolen Treasure (Indiana Jones) and passed all the minifig parts to my 3 year old to build for me while I built the rest of the set. For some reason all the German Soldier minifig heads are now stuck fast to their bodies (thankfully he lined them all up pretty well with the front of the figure) yet strangely Indy's head comes free easily. Any one else experienced this problem? I am a huge guy and no amount of basic physical tugging looks like it will do any good. I was thinking about maybe using some detergent distileld in water to loosen them but I don't want to damage the prints on the torsos. Any ideas?
  10. It's a pretty awful set IMO - the tree looks terrible and given that the speeder bike is different to the ones in The Battle of Endor, it won't even integrate well with that set. Also the price here in Australia is AUD$50 which is more than double the US price on current exchange rates. The only selling point for the set is the two unique ewoks included which should at least mix OK with the ones in BoE. Let's hope we get an Endor battlepack in 2013 for the 30th Anniversary of RotJ which adds a bit more variety to the imperial troops that were stationed there (hint for Lego: they weren't all biker scouts).
  11. The B&N code will work once per e-mail address, so if you have more than one e-mail address you can easily benefit from it multiple times.
  12. I've seen all the POTC sets on sale here in Australia except Isle de le Meurta - perhaps it has been recalled on account of the gold issue?
  13. I would guess around $16.64 as the RRP is $17.99 if the standard Big W price of 7.5% less than RRP is to be believed.
  14. Well, I've already got all the Pharaoh's Quest sets I want from Barnes & Noble & Ebay at much cheaper prices than the above (Scorpion Pyramid was <$90 delivered) but I have to say they are beautiful sets and worth picking up if the theme interests you at all. Incidentally I tried to get the QAR off B&N with the 30% off coupon posted earlier and they cancelled my order after a couple of days - no problem except they failed to redeem the coupon...
  15. Probably - it looks like he is wearing a giant novelty condom on his head to me...
  16. The tree looks awful but the Ewoks will probably integrate Ok with the existing Battle of Endor Set.
  17. They aren't even legally required to honour an advertised price, so the answer is no. I tried to get Queen Anne's Revenge off Toys R Us on the weekend with the 20% discount as the shelf-price was listed as $159 as some people have managed but no luck.
  18. Don't know if this is the case across all Targets, but Target Canberra City had the POTC Cannibal Escape mispriced at $39 today (all the other sets were at full Aussie Recommended Rip-off Price), which will be a sweet deal when the 20% off deal kicks in on the 12th (almost the same as the US price!).
  19. Keep checking B&N - sooner or later the sets that were cancelled will appear and can be ordered again - they cancelled all my Pharaoh's Quest preorders but soon enough they appeared on the site and I could order them at the sweet, sweet US prices.
  20. Great MOC - but where are the visitors supposed to walk - it looks pretty packed!
  21. A bit late to the party on this one (I just built my copy last week) - but I have to say I really like this set. Yes it's short on play features but the minis are great (I always like getting more crownies as it enables you to create bigger melees) and with the addition of a few orcs from other sets and the modularity of the set you can create a great LOTR or fantasy MOC.
  22. Agreed - I imagine the 2009 Pirates only lasted one wave because the POTC deal was signed and sealed shortly after it was released...sigh. Have any of the new Kingdoms sets been seen as well as the POTC sets? Some of those are of more interest to me than the POTC line and apparently have been turning up at TRU in the US.
  23. Obviously it would be impossible to build this to mini-figure scale, so the mini-figs are obviously tossed in to try to get non-UCS people to buy. Unfortunately, I can't see much appeal in what they've provided - a Zuckuss or 4-Lom would have gone down better with fans. While I like the ship, I imagine this will be far to expensive here in Aussieland despite our dollar being worth more than the greenback.
  24. They don't usually give you 10% off - it's just sometimes they'll offer an *additional* 10% off to Myer One members on stuff already on sale. Also - if you're worried about Ebay sellers then check their satisfaction ratings - if someone's sold a ton of stuff and have a 100% satisfaction rating or close to it, chances are things are being packed ok. I've bought tons of Lego off Ebay without a hitch.
  25. The best you can hope for is to wait for a 20% off sale and then hope they give an additional 10% off to Myer One card holders - that should get it down to a nudge over $200. If you really want Bickbeard's Bounty it's readily available off Ebay - and at less than the Australian RRP including delivery: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LEGO-6243-Pirate-Brickbeards-Bounty-MISB-/280654221216?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41584b8fa0
