  1. Hello! Great castle! It reminds me to those great castle sets when I was young, and the classic castle series had its heyday. Your design uses many of the classic castle building techniques which I like a lot! Of course you specialized it with nice improvements like tooth plates for the gate and real windows for under the 2-wide archs. And thos little mushrooms are cute! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  2. Hey all! It's fantastic to see what original and creative ideas come out of these battlepacks with their limited parts number and variety. Great job all of you! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  3. Hello! Although not yet finished, this looks very impressive! I especially like the use of the modified plates with angular extension and tip, a piece that I always wanted to use some day. I'm looking forward to see the entire and complete scene. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  4. Hello, and thank you for the comments! The round thingy actually is a landspeeder, the Ubrikkian 9000-Z001, not an escape pod, although it has similarities. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  5. Hello! Quite good starfighter design! It features the right red/white colour sheme to be easily recognized as Republic ship. I like the use of those large roof slopes as wings. What I don't like so much is the nose of the ship. I think that a 4x6 curved wedge would look much smoother at that position. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  6. Hello dear fellows! Today there are only 4 lesser impressive models, I'd like to show to you. They're all landspeeders seen in "A New Hope" in Mos Eisley. The XP-38 landspeeder is completely new, and the V-35 landspeeder has been completely redesigned. So our little story begins... -------------------- It takes place in Mos Eisley when Luke, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the two droids C-3PO and R2D2 travel to Mos Eisley in Luke's old X-34 Landspeeder. The first vehicle they cross paths with is a V-35 Courier Speeder, one of which also was parked in the Lars' family homestead. This model has been completely redesigned, and is much smaller and thus more MINI than my earlier version. The new 1x2x2/3 slopes are the perfect cockpit window for that shape as this scale. The engine section is completely studs down to have a possibility for attaching three plates at a 1x4 plate with gaps between them. Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi leave their speeder outside the Mos Eisley Cantina where you can see a few other speeders are parked. Among them is an Ubrikkian 9000 Z001 Landspeeder, a quite uncommon shape but commonly seen. Once inside the bar, Obi-Wan Kenobi books a transport to Alderaan and informs Luke that he had to sell his speeder, the X-34. A bit later after having sold his speeder Luke tells Obi-Wan: "He (the speeder dealer) says it's the best he can do. Since the XP-38 came out, they (X-34 speeders) are just not in demand." But what is the XP-38? The XP-38 landpseeder is a similar design to the older X-34 speeder. The main differences are a closed canopy and boxy engines instead of streamlined ones which doesn't make it easier to build. The flattest engine-like look, meaning with hollow interior, is realized by headlight bricks. To attach them to something flat like a speeder body, you can't use the normal approaches. Instead a 2x2 plate with holes below was used. A door rail plate closes the gap. The engines are by the way quite similar to those of the Flash Speeder seen on Naboo, but that's a different story. -------------------- That was a small compilation to start into the week-end. For those who missed compilation 1, it is loacted here. I am working on something different which I might be able to post later this week-end. All models and instructions can be seen here: http://sw.deckdesigns.de The message of this story is about MINI scale. When you have a vehicle that is already quite small in real, like landspeeders with only few meters in length, a MINI model should be as small as possible. When building landspeeders slightly larger, i.e. 4-wide you could almost already seat a minifig in it. This would look strange, and thus I keep speeders usually as small as I can get. Thank you for your time and stepping by! ~ Christopher
  7. Funny idea! And again, the 3x2 plate with hole prooved to be a valuable piece. It's such a great piece for small creations. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  8. Hello! I am not an experienced castle builder, but I like it nonetheless! Maybe you want to use two 1x6 arch bricks instead of the 2x6 brick over the entrance. Another hint in general, if I am allowed to propose this here: MOCs free from dust look much more attractive and give it a sparkling look on the photo. I - for example - use an old 1 inch brush to clean older creations from dust.
  9. Hello! Only once I have been in a real stadium, but again get that impressed feeling when only looking at that immense construction. I have two questions for you. I am sure you will add white stripes on the grass, won't you? As you have that great modular technique, you could have the correct stripes for several games already prepared on baseplates. Second, where does one get several thousands of minifigs? Cheers, ~ Christopher
  10. Hello! I particularly like that mini cruiser. Although I am not sure what it is. Compared to a standard Acclamator, the sloping on the top hull begins too early, and the back fin is too large. Nonetheless, nice cruiser design! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  11. Heya, well, this definitely is a playset. And it looks ncie, I have to admit. However, I am wondering, if the the can do a miDi TIE Advanced for the DeathStar set which can fit in a minifigure, why can't they make a miDi X-Wing for also a minifigure. It's kinda odd seeing the engineers around that closed and sealed canopy. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  12. Hello! The relatively little house is stuffed with life and details. That's what make a great scene. The kitchen is really busy looking, just as would imagine it for a fast-food restaurant. The idea to use the 1x1 brick with handle as fast food package is a great idea. The Mafia atmosphere on the second floor is realized very well. You can almost feel the suspicion in that room. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  13. Hello! Nice shots of a great layout! I like that plane hanging on the celiling! Now the only thing yet missing is a harbour site. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  14. Hello! An excellent creation! Lots of greebling details and many many moving parts. The concealed speederbike is a nice gadget. I also like the new species with the horn on the head as a minifigure Jedi. Thanks for sharing! ~ Christopher
  15. Hello there, and welcome to MINI building! Despite other comments, I think this ship has strong similarities with the Venator. There are the sloped twin bridges, the cutout in the general wedge shape and side-mounted guns. There are some things you could improve starting by removing the middle engine (which it actually does not have) and add a 75° 2x2x3 slope as back fin. Then add 2 1x8 red tiles and place them centered onto the dark grey wedges on the top. You will have to remove that centered cannon which the original also does not have. And look! You just did a Venator! Personally I live the idea that you can find something good in ANY moc regardless if the builder is a professional or a beginner. We're here to motivate people in building, this including hints on how they could improve it. MINI building is not as easy as it seems to many people. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  16. Hello! Well, yeah nice. Large collections for minifigs usually look impressive. I am not familiar with HALO much, but are they really unarmed? Give your figures something to do. Give them some utensil, let them drive a speeder or build them a home. The poor figures just stand there and don't know what to do. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  17. Hello there! What I like most is that you built them all in different colour schemes, which is not always easy especially for the more rare colours like tan and brown. Nice designs! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  18. It's bristling with weapons! :skull: Such exoskeleton hardsuits can be the perfect weaopn on combat fields, like we have seen in the latest Starship Troopers movie for example. Your design in well-designed with a high amount of flexibility. Also the wall it jus broke through (even with bullet holes) is an excellent detail. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  19. Hello! That's adorable! So many little things which are cleraly recognizable! And that inverted flower trunks as trees are a great thing to remember for future mini models. Thanks for posting this! ~ Christopher
  20. Hey there! Great use of rounded elements, both slopes and teeth pieces. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  21. Hello! A brick-built boat hull. Excellent. But also the other details like that great mast are fantastic. Thanks for sharing! Regards, ~ Christopher
  22. Hello! A great craft you presented here! The way you used that windscreen is very creative. Are those 2x2 dishes for the engines also trans yellow or trans neon yellow. I know the yellow ones are more rare. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  23. Hello! Although I am not familiar with the story itself, the vignette looks fantastic. It's nice to see there are some old yellow 4.5V cubes still in use. It's also a great photo as it's not easy to get good photos from dark bricks and even taking the photo in the dark. Regards, ~ Christopher
  24. Hello! Great layout! What impresses me most here is the clever way you created the window frame at the front side of the house by using the vertical window panel in a horizontal way. Then the great arch in front of it makes this a spot-on window. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  25. Hello! You really catch poverty and despair very well. You spent a lot of time placing things here and there to give it the right look. One thing I really like is that car. It's 5-wide! Older TLC cars were 4-wide, today we have those blocky 6-wide things. Your car is great! Best greetings, ~ Christopher
