Castle: Mini 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress
Legostein replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you Sirs! I raised the walls by a plate, making the towers less tall. Proportions are really tricky on this one. Thanks for your input! Cheers, ~ Christopher -
Thank you Wout and Carbohydrates! The half plate element (I love these things!) is a bracket this time, being attached in the interior so no one can see the big edgy piece. Attached below is the instruction piece, while the rest of the gallery is being remoderated due to new images with smooth flags. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello! That's a good idea with the library on the second floor. The carpet is a very nice touch. The librarian looks a bit bored. Maybe give them a few more books to sort or some flowers to water and to green up the room a bit. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello again, and thanks for the comments! First of all, I know the flags are waaaaay too big of course. I used plates instead of tiles to imitate some waving of the flags. I found that when using tiles the flag looked so fat. One stud width for something that's only few milliemeters in reality is far too much, and it looked even wider when I used the tile. Maybe I will take them off completely, to point more to the building, as the first thing you see are the colourful flags. Cheers, ~ Chritstopher EDIT: No wait wait wait! I apologize. If so many people suggest the same thing, I won't ignore that. I am grateful for your time and hints! I will exchange the plates immediately and update the photos. Thanks again for your comments!

Castle: Mini 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress
Legostein replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hello! Thank you for your reply! You don't like it? Then tell me. You like it? Tell me, too! But come on, I told everyone in the original post that the full gallery has yet to be moderated. During the week-end this takes usually longer, as also the BrickShelf admins deserve some week-end. That's why you embed deeplink images in your post. They always show up. Regards, ~ Christopher -
Hello dear community! Sometimes when you only build mini spacecraft you feel the need of building something different. So I'd like to take a closer look at one of the most beautiful castle sets of all times! It was originally released 23 years ago in the year 1986, and had a revival 7 years ago in 2002 within the “Legends” line of popular sets. If you haven’t guessed it yet, we’re talking about the “Black Falcon’s Fortress”. Its shape is more elegant than that of a standard fortress, having 45° edged towers and a chateau-like main building. When you enjoy building small – like me for example – headlight bricks and 1x1 clip tiles seem to be obvious choices for building micro castles. Fortunately the Black Falcon’s Fortress’ shape provides some more challenges. The roof construction of the yellow half-timbering building is very angled and needed the new 1x1x2/3 and 1x2x2/3 slopes. The main gate is an old pirate ship window frame, as all conventional arch bricks would have been too wide. It’s a nice trick when you’re in need of an 1x2 arch. For the edged towers an almost forgotten piece, the 2x2x3 octagonal brick, was nice find. I also tried to imitate the original background of the set. Shown above is a rendering image. It is together with more views of the castle, as well as instructions, available on BrickShelf as soon as having been moderated: Mini 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress on BrickShelf That’s it for now. Thanks for stepping by! ~ Christopher

Hello! A good idea! Playground are also more rarely designed. They many coloured slopes give it already an inviting touch, but as mentioned, some more kids attractions would enrich this already great MOC. You have so many edges and corners to attach more thing, that this won't be a problem for you. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello! A really great building. It stands out by a rare colour, and a very smooth design with all the nice curves. It's a great addition to any micro town. Maybe, some day we can start a group project here where we gather all our micro town creations and build up a large city. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Thank you for the comments everyone! Usually, I try to be as exact as possible. I guess length x width is exact, but you're right, the towers are a bit too high. But I wanted to have the towers with windows, so I decided to gain a detail and loose a bit accuracy. It's always a game of balance between level of detail and accuracy. See you soon, ~ Christopher

Star Wars Bounty Hunter Bossk
Legostein replied to Legostein's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hello, and thank you for the kind replies! It's great to have found people who think alike here. With more and more Star Wars figures being officially released, it's more and more hard to find some space to build. But there are other themes fortunatley. Cheers, ~ Christopher -
Hello! As popular as the series may be, I am not familiar with it. However, looking at the reference and comparing it to your figure, gives a pretty good match! Even hair style and face are close to the original. Cheers, ~ Christopher
-
Hello! Well, even your "bad" camera should be good enough to take a non-blurry picture. You can see that the camera focused on the background, and thus the figure itself is blurry. You should try taking some smooth background with a large paper, so the camera has only your figure to focus on. The figure itself is nice. Reminds me to the human/horse hybrid seen in Harry Potter. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello! Nice builds. I especially like the HA-LT for the original name. I can already hear the trooper on patrol shouting "HALT!" to someone. The word has its origin in the german word "halten" which means to stop. I don't know if you intended that double meaning here, but it's great! Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello there! This is really an unusual design, but a good one. There are no design limitations for space ships, as in space everything that is properly sealed can fly. I only hope it won't fall too fast when entering an atmosphere. Maybe you want to add some additional thrusters on the underside to slow down the fall like for a dropship to which it has some similarity. Cheers, ~ Christopher

I'm going to the Jedi Temple to start my training, I hope!

Hello, and thanks again all. I will follow your advise and keep MOCing. But regarding architecture I will have to find some new object first, so I guess it's time for some miniaturized space craft from the Star Wars Universe. Have a good time! ~ Christopher -
Heallo dear community! It's my pleasure to unveil my latest Stargate MINI model to you here. Let me give a short motivation first. Stargate quickly became one of the most popular TV series during the last years. Although the series is more ground-based there are plenty of nice vehicles and vessels to be spotted during the more rare space scenes. Admitted, there are more space scenes in the Atlantis spin-off than in the original series which I prefer. Although Star Wars is probaly my most favorite Science Fiction series, I like many others as well. And this is my contribution to it. After the Goa'uld had been defeated a new threat came to the galaxy, namely the Ori. They are present during the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1. Their vehicles of choice are the so-called "Ori Motherships" although I usually call then "flying lavatory seat" for obvious reasons. Realizing the shape was not trivial as bent things are usually not easy to build with bricks. I finally used vehicle mudguards with rounded slopes. For the glowing ring in the middle a life preserver was used. Here is the result: All images and instructions can be found here: Ori Mothership on BrickShelf This isn't the first Stargate Mini model I've made, so, if allowed, here are a few thumbnails. Maybe it motivates some more Stargate building Thanks for stepping by! ~ Christopher

Hello dear fellows! Today I want to present some more miniature architecture to you. The title already says it all. Since 1999 the Reichstag building in Berlin serves as meeting place for the German parliament - the Bundestag. I thought that after the many Capitols and White Houses of the United States, some more centres of politcs would be nice. With almost 400 pieces this is probably the most extensive creation regarding parts that I have built in years. The idea of building the German parliament came up once there was this lovely 4x4 hemisphere piece available in transparent- clear. I hop you like it. There are views from all sides as well as a high-resolution rendering image and instructions available. All images and instructions can be found here: Mini Reichstag on BrickShelf (Currently being re-moderated due to updated images) More "Minitecture" can be found here: Mini Architecture on BrickShelf Thanks for your time and interest! Have a great week-end! ~ Christopher

Hello dear fellows! Besides my main interest - this being building MINI models - I also like building minifigures, but with official pieces only. I am not good in customizing like painting, thus I stick to what I can do. By use of only official pieces I create minifigures without glueing, sawing or paiting. It's a different approach which sometimes a bit of imagination, but in most cases it works. Today, I'd like to present my brick-built bounty hunter Bossk to you which you might have seen in The Empire Strikes Back. He also appears in several comics and books. Normally I would have used that croc head from Batman, however, someone else already had that idea. As I always respect my fellow builders' works, I had to find a different solution. He's completely made of bricks, no typical minifigure pieces have been used. I used that little Bionicle head, dark green robot arms and tooth plates to realize the parts where you can see his skin. I also tried to imitate his weapon of choice by only using bricks. If you're interested in more brick-built minifigures, you're more than welcome to have a look. But please not that many of them were designed before an official version of LEGO® existed and might look unnecessary today. Nonetheless, have a great week-end! ~ Yours Christopher

Milan, you're right of course. Sorry I miscounted. In my mind I still live in the world where vehicles were smaller. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello and welcome! Next you need some more construction site vehicles like tipper trucks and cranes who build a nice street for your houses. Or you buy street baseplates directly. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Oh well. Do you remember the classic camper sets? These were only 4-wide, and this one here is 8-wide, a tremendous improvement regarding interior. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello! These are all great. It's these things which give life to a city and makes photos lively. Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello! A good start for a first creation. You will notice that your skills improve the more you build. So keep us tuned! Cheers, ~ Christopher

Hello there! Again a nice combination and photopgraphing/imaging techniques! I must admit that I never got hands on one of the new ghost shrouds. I only own few of them from older castle sets. This transparent-glowing, however, looks even more mysterious. I should get one of these and some of those new transparent-glowing pieces. Cheers, ~ Christopher
