They get to double dip on the new set hype. They also need to make sure there are sets coming out throughout the year - and then there's the fact that most people can't afford to buy a full year's worth of sets in one go, so why release them all together?

Another moments set actually excites me - not least because the large tiles that make the book shape are useful to me, so the more the merrier. I would agree that the likely students are Neville and Malfoy... but then we got Neville and Cedric in the Herbology set, and I don't think they ever even shared a scene together - let alone a class. I'm expecting something like Ginny and Angelina.

There's no reason a goat won't return to Lego in the future. They're just waiting for the right opportunity to bring it back. After all, they could afford to make the mould the first time, so they'll do it again one day.

This is the only part of your idea which makes me dubious - Castle and Pirates are two lost classics of Lego, and I'm sure there's a load of AFOL's who want to see both on the shelves at the same time. Combining them permanently into one theme would be an unpopular move, when there's nothing stopping Lego from putting one theme on hold if they don't want to produce a sets for both at the same time.

Other than Cho, the only non-white Quidditch players we know are on the Gryffindor team, and they were never not going to include Harry. Zacharias Smith is the only known Hufflepuff player aside from Cedric, and I know which one I would prefer. They don't throw moulds away for the sake of it. The goat cannot be used because it's damaged - they discovered it was unusable when they took it out of storage to include in a set. I don't know if we'll ever see a Thestral again, but if we don't it won't be because Lego chucked out a perfectly good mould.

I couldn't tell you, I bought it second hand off Bricklink a few months back. It's only ever been in BAM to my knowledge though.

I clearly need to rewatch Jurassic World, since I only remember Chris Pratt's character! There aren't many characters who are confirmed to be gay on screen in properties Lego have licenses for. Possibly one of the licenses they've done for Ideas? In Star Wars, I think it's only D'Acy and her wife on screen, and none for Harry Potter.

I'll defer to your memory. At the time I was halfway to entering my Dark Ages and only partially aware of the world of Lego.

I'm not sure they're well-known enough to sell a large set. Do we ever even visit the apothecary in book or film? I don't remember it.

Never say never. After all, if memory serves we got the first Simpsons CMF a little bit before the first Simpsons set - presumably as a way to use the CMF budget to make the necessary moulds for the set. Perhaps there'll be a Looney Tunes set next year.

In fairness, all we have confirmed so far about the August wave is two minifigures - which weren't known to the leakers anyway - and possibly a Quidditch students pack with some lacklustre minifigure choices. There's stll a lot we don't know. What would be on the other side, though? Other than Gringotts and the Leaky Cauldron, what recognisable buildings have we not had? Harry Potter isn't a powerhouse theme enough to sell a £250 set with buildings too obscure for Joe Public to recognise.

Very nice! And always good to see the lesser-mentioned themes of yesteryear get another moment in the sun.

The thing is, there aren't really many candidates for a Harry Potter D2C. We had Diagon Alley last year, there's a Hogsmeade set in June, we know it's not Quidditch. Take those away and there are only a few options.

I'd quite like to see the Ministry of Magic, including every location scene in the films - the courtroom, the department of mysteries, Umbridge's office, the atrium, etc. Potential for a good chunk of minifigures we'll never get anywhere else - you can have dual-sided faces covering the trio while also getting us Runcorn, Reg Cattermole and Mafalda Hopkirk, then add Yaxley, Mary Cattermole, Umbridge, Scrimgeour, etc.

It would fit with there being a Chamber and a Myrtle's Bathroom this year. Have we had a proper Philosopher's Stone in Lego yet?

Technically speaking, the sock still belonged to Harry when the Quidditch match took place - and presumably he wore socks that day. If we get a Harry minifigure (of course we will!) then it's easy to pretend that he's wearing the sock he'd give to Dobby. Thus, we would get Dobby's Sock and Quidditch. And I see that as an absolute win.

Exactly this. There's nothing wrong with having, say, a character who is a Lady in Waiting and nothing more - it's variety, it's a role some women actually played in life, and combined with a well-written leading lady can give an interesting dynamic. It would be an issue if every female character was either a stereotypical princess or a demure lady in waiting, but as part of an assortment of characters it's healthy. And on the other side of the coin, having all the male characters rigidly stick to the same archetype of sword-toting would be at best samey, where a variety of characters could help a series prosper.
