  1. One of my IP2002-esque creations
  2. Brilliantly and beautifully put The factions I am currently designing for are based on an ice planet, so things like purple, red, yellow and green felt out of place to me. I went with the IP:2002 colors for one, prominence swapped around a bit but all elements still there, and for the other it was black, white, trans dark blue. All colors that feel natural to a planet of ice and rock, IMO. But I have built creations that were color crazy, yet had that ragtag, scrapyard feel. I had an epic battle train with a myriad of different colors here and there. It was a space mercenary group, and so much fun to build for. But that was back when I only had a certain amount of Lego at my disposal, So I couldn't be too picky colorwise
  3. IP:2002 was one of my favorite themes, and I like what you have going on, but it feels incomplete, it's missing some OOMPH. Were you trying to go with the original color theme, or more of just the feel? I've actually created a military wing of IP:2002 using the same basic color scheme with heavier weaponry and some cosmetic differences. Check it out in my mobile spider base thread. But your base looks nice and I like the idea.
  4. I have, and I generally go with no more than 4 colors. Usually a primary solid, secondary solid, tertiary solid and highlight trans Although if I go with only two solids, I may use two trans colors. I find that black, white, blue, red, and grey most fit in with the space themes, but it really depends on your setting, I feel
  5. Interesting. Would you mind extrapolating on that? I thought it was perfectly on topic. The "why?" of which colors we use can be just as important as the "what?".
  6. But what about when you factor the trans-colors in? Or do you have a scheme for that?
  7. If you are shying away from spaceships, maybe you could go with some kind of hovertank or a low flying dropship. I really like your neo-blacktron models so far. Keep up the good work!
  8. Will I know when I am able to start threads again? Will I get a PM or something?
  9. The only MBs I sometimes keep are a few of the trans colors, an those only rarely. I find that MBs provide too much of a weak link for any serious building
  10. Think replacing the tan with white or light grey would really make it pop Maybe add a trans color?
  11. Okay, here is the latest status if the two factions The two sides The subzero Skorpions The Chiller Spyders
  12. I am currently expanding my red and light grey bricks, in order to create other factions. The M-tron scheme has grown on me a bit, and light grey definitely fits in with the space setting. Trans-green and trans-red may factor in as well. I wonder how a trans-green/grey/red faction would look
  13. Like the design and the color scheme. Here are a few suggestions: Consider making the cockpit a detachable ship with it's own weaponry Add a swiveled turret to the top of the tank to give it more versatility Definitely consider cockpit canopies, especially if you make the cockpit detachable Perhaps add some more trans neon green to the legs
  14. Ok, I actually have model pics I'd like to post now, but I am unable to start a thread. Perhaps I can be allowed to again on a tentative basis? I promise I'll stay within the guidelines better.
  15. so this is the color scheme I went with for my factions.
  16. Not too harsh at all. very sensible, and I have a much better idea of what kind of forum this is now. thank y'all for all your help. I'll try to be a better poster. And I have built things and have specific reasons i use color schemes, I just haven't got around to taking pictures and posting them on here, FWIW. again, thanks for the guidance.
  17. I usually start with an idea for an element then spend the day or night sketching ideas for it. Brainstorming. Figuring out how to articulate crucial parts. Then comes actually building it in physical form. Usually a rough skeleton, or one specific aspect. At that point it usually boils down to trial and error, and finding that piece you need and saw five minuites earlier!!!
  18. For ground vehicles, I usually fond myself starting with the wheel base. For ships, usually the cockpit.
  19. Gotcha. So I should make it more inclusive?
  20. Zorbas May the day of your emergence into this earthly realm be filled with much joy and celebration. May the Lego gods shower you with the choicest bricks
  21. Perhaps a green primary/ yellow secondary/ trans neon green tertiary then?
  22. Well, what theme do you have in mind for it? For that particular model, I would go with a primary black/ secondary dark grey/ tertiary white, with a trans- dark blue or trans neon green for your trans. Just my opinion though
