Great Brick War General Discussion Thread
TheBeeze replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Advantage to you personally? No. However, your builds do influence where the game goes. We look at people's builds when creating new content for the game. So the outcome of your Recon mission could in a sense be worked into something later. So don't think of an outcome of a build as an advantage or disadvantage for you or your team, but it can enhance the overall direction of the game.- 315 replies

Great Brick War General Discussion Thread

Something else has been brought up: Regarding the scale and sizing of the map- The staff has not scaled the maps. The reason for this is simple, your focus should be on making a great build not the exact distance to a location. Too many details and definitions can detract from what we are ultimately trying to accomplish here. Be reasonable in your approach to your builds. With regard to the realism of certain equipment being used, do your research on a particular item and think about what you believe to be a fair representation of its striking capabilities based on what you've already seen here so far.- 315 replies

If nothing else, this contest should serve as a benchmark for the number of different ways one can build an Imperial Leader's Chair.... hahaha. I've been looking at all the different ways each of us did it.

Got a few requests from people here and in PM to see the whole build. These pictures are purely supplemental, they are not meant to enhance anything as the deadline has passed. Thrawn Contest by Jesse Beeze, on Flickr Thrawn Contest by Jesse Beeze, on Flickr

I could attempt a second build if you'll allow it. Probably going to be stuck home for the weekend sick.

Great Brick War General Discussion Thread
TheBeeze replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Two Points: 1. I realize there are several side builds out awaiting scores. We will get to them I promise. We rushed to get the campaigns done and have CP3 built. There are some sidebuilds currently awaiting scoring that the builders may want to readdress for various reasons, most importantly, do you have the points to be building that? 2. A questions was raised in the COAC Chat regarding the upcoming campaign and how sidebuilds should be structured. This is my answer which I feel is benefical to both sides: "The campaign build should primarily feature your combat. Side builds can show some shots being fired but the missions have to stick to the guidelines. The primary focus should be the point of the side mission, not combat. Example: You do a recon build. Some where in the mission your recon team runs into a patrol or something. There is a small engagement. The point is, you should not be showing huge battles happening in side builds."- 315 replies

Campaign 3- Taking Ground 6/15/17 - 7/31/17
TheBeeze replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Your build must meet that size as a minimum, does not need to be on a baseplate per say. I will ask that if you do something that is not dimensionally square, that it not be something too time consuming for me to sit there and count studs. Bottom line, we want a decent sized build for this one. We shouldn't have to sit there and count studs, it should be obvious that you've met the requirements. -
Campaign 3 Taking Ground Map Name: Studica Grid: E4, E5 Time: 0530 Hours Before the sun comes up, Johann Paulson is already halfway through his day having fished along the river with his son, Leif. Johann and his son are spending time at this cabin for their summer just across the border from Filace. Johann returned to the cabin to start preparing for the second half of the day to clean and cook the fish they caught..... or so they claimed. Leif stood silently gazing out into the river when Soldiers popped out of the water with guns pointed straight at him. Johann quickly grabbed his gun to come to his son's aid. Before he could even move out the door his son was restrained and the guns were pointing at him. The soldiers were instructing him to drop his weapon and no harm would come to him and his son. Johann complied dropping his weapon and raising his hands above his head. He was explaining to the soldiers him and his son were just fisherman on retreat. when the 2nd part of the recon team breached the front door to the cabin to search the area as the false dawn was striking the sky. The tower which they claimed was for operating a personal radio was linked up to the Briolui Army's Intelligence Wing. They were providing early warning for the military. Additionally, an artillery crate was found booby trapped inside the cabin which they stated was just stores of food for the summer. The recon team moved the Paulsons away from the house completely disregarding their statements on their activities. The Recon team made one last sweep on the cabin and determined it would be wise to call in an EOD team to inspect the crate . The recon team secured the Paulsons a short distance away behind a berm while they waited for the EOD team to arrive. When the EOD unit arrived, they instructed the Recon Team to stay in place behind the berm while the Tech inspected the cabin and the suspicious crate. Once inside the cabin, the EOD tech inspected the crate and disabled the explosive trigger. Inspection of the crate would show a map and a list of documents pertaining to the planned COAC invasion of Briolui. There were detailed documents showing troop counts and planned routes of assault. Someone inside the COAC leaked the battleplans to the RON and now they knew exactly where the COAC was going to strike. They would be ready. ____________________________________________________________________ Campaign Guidelines Forces of the COAC banded together and launched a full scale coordinated assault on Studica Grids E4 and E5. The COAC is trying to push into Briolui territory in hopes of bringing things to quick end. Word of the impending attack slipped out prior and now all RON Nations have been alerted and are already moving their forces in coordinated a defensive effort. Countries that are part of the COAC are to build MOCs depicting their side assaulting fortified positions of the enemy attempting to capture ground. Countries in the RON are to build MOCs depicting their side defending assaults. The goal for both sides here is to show coordination with each other across your builds. Stories should intertwine and share details. Be creative. This will be a big part of your score. Nations that currently have not declared war will need to do so before submitting combat builds or find other creative ways to build something to fit in with the guidelines. All builds must be posted as a new topic in the “Great Brick War” subforum, the title prefixed by, "(GBW- CP3)" followed by the Country you’re representing, and then your MOC’s Title. Example "(GBW- CP3) Filace - Fueling up the Jets") Neither side should show their forces definitively destroying the opposition. Showing successes is okay, but not total domination. The winners of the campaign will be decided based on the points awarded from judging. This means if your team doesn't score well, it's possible for your forces to be beaten back. MINIMUM SIZE BUILD IS 32 X 32 All LDD Builds must be labeled- Example: (GBW- CP3) Country - Title of build (LDD) All builds must be new MOC’s and not prior builds. Photo Editing is to be kept to a minimum with only real edits of lighting and color correction. No special effects. Players may crop one picture of their MOC onto a background picture to help with their landscape if they’d like. Pictures cannot be bigger than 800x600 Players may post a link to an offsite host such as Flickr where Higher Res pics are located. Be cool and share your photos in the GBW Flickr Group! Please refer to the General Rules Topic for limitations based on your Point Level. Upon completion, players must also post a link to their build in the AAR Thread as well letting the judges know that it is eligible for scoring. Campaign Duration 6/15/17 - 7/31/17 All builds will not be finalized until the closing date for the campaign. Players can edit their posts up until that point. As long as it is 7/31/17 somewhere in the world, you can submit. Use this as a deadline https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/baker-island The Outcome If the COAC wins, they will earn the ground they set out to conquer. If the RON wins, they will put a stop to the forward momentum of the COAC preventing any offensive campaigns for the next (2) Campaigns. All players who participate will be awarded the points they earn for each build. The winning team will earn this tag: Players can have only (1) GBW Tag in their profile at a time. If you would like this tag, please let a GBW Staff Member know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Recon and EOD Team were fully outfitted courtesy of one of our sponsors, Minifig.cat Be sure to check out their site and all of the great products they offer to build up your armories!

Please remove the link and turn the page down. We have enough information to try and manage here, we do not need another. Any requests having to do with the game should be presented to the staff before being acted on.

Yes. Lego doesn't make military vehicles, third party companies do. Several people have already had builds with 3rd party vehicles credited.- 315 replies

I'm not 100% sure what you mean here... Take an actual Lego set change the colors and switch some things up? If so, no. The rules say everything must be completely original.- 315 replies

Thank you. I've wanted to do that with a star wars MOC for some time now. May do more if I get around to my Tatooine build before the weather changes. I just did something similar with the Gif and in real water for Great Brick War which worked out nice.

High above the ancient world of Jedha, the Empire is slowly starting to encroach on the rebel stronghold. Strong pockets of Rebel Insurgents still hold a commanding presence over Jedha City. The Empire has decided to slowly work its way into the city through means other than warfare as a direct conflict with Saw Gerrera's forces might have unforeseen circumstances at this early point in the game. The Imperials have been planning their full scale assault with Admiral Thrawn having full control of the strategy for when they decide to invade. Lieutenant Shrike- Admiral, Your presence is requested on the bridge. Thrawn: Tell me, what seems to be the issue Lieutenant? Lieutenant Shrike- I was not told sir. The Emperor requested you personally. Thrawn: The Emperor?........ Hmmmm so he decided to pay us a visit prior to our invasion. Very well, I am on my way. Walking through the entrance to the deck, the Admiral walks right into the conversation. Emperor Palpatine: Director Krennic only a fool would be so unwise to let something like this go unchecked for so long. Krennic: My lord this was just brought to my attention. The Kyber project was under the command of Governor Tarkin. Darth Vader: Perhaps you should spend your time trying to fix the problem instead of pinning it elsewhere Director. Emperor Palpatine: Admiral Thrawn, so good of you to join us. Thrawn: Reporting as ordered my lord. We are honored by your presence. Emperor Palpatine: Admiral, Director Krennic has a problem that we need to solve quickly and quietly. Thrawn: What seems to be the problem my lord? Emperor Palpatine: As someone of your stature is well aware, we've been developing a new weapon to obliterate our enemies across the galaxy. The weapon is powered by Kyber crystals, and that is why we are preparing to take hold of this planet as it maintains a plentiful supply of Kyber. In order to speed up the process of his development, Director Krennic decided he would start using smugglers to remove large portions of Kyber from Jedha City under everyone's noses. A group of rebels intercepted a large shipment of the crystals and have taken them somewhere outside the city. Thrawn: *Looking at Krennic* And, in what way, do you feel I can be of assistance? Emperor Palpatine: Your skills have been quite invaluable on the battlefield Admiral, perhaps you can propose a solution to this mess as well? Krennic: *Getting Angry* Emperor, I have everything under control. I just need more time. Darth Vader: If that were true, we would not be having this meeting director. Thrawn: I can solve this problem my lord. Krennic: This is Absurd! Thrawn: I will need all of your intelligence on this situation brought to my war room immediately Director. Krennic: *Brushing past Thrawn* So be it Admiral. The Admiral returned to his War Room to review the materials and found some interesting materials. It is likely that the smugglers were in on the grab by the rebels given that A. not one smuggler was killed in the exchange and B. they were paid upfront by the empire and probably turned another profit from the rebels. The intel obtained from the Director indicated that the band of smugglers who were moving the Kyber were all Rodians. Admiral Thrawn dispatched a team of bounty hunters to Jedha to investigate the outskirts of the city to try and find the Kyber. By using bounty hunters, they could blend in and not draw any attention from the rebels that normal imperial troops would. The bounty hunters were transmitting images to the admiral as they trekked along when suddenly he stopped and yelled into the commlink to stop Greedo, one of the bounty hunters assigned to the job stood outside the building and waited for instruction. Thrawn: *Into the Commlink* That's it, the rebels and the kyber are there. Greedo: This can't be the place, this is a watering hole for all of the local scum run by.... Thrawn: RODIANS. Greedo: Yes, Rodi... how did you know that? Thrawn: Greedo, it appears they left their welcome flag outside. Did they not? Greedo: Yes rodians leave a string of dishes in an elaborate pattern strung up on cables outside their homes to let others know they are welcome. Thrawn: Yes, a nice artful gesture. One that will be their end. You know what to do. Greedo entered the bar with his pistol drawn. His fellow bounty hunters Bossk and Dengar scaled the wall with hopes of getting into the bar from the upper level. The two climbed in shoving aside a band that was playing and instantly found one of their marks, a rodian rebel who was already raising his blaster when they dropped him. Greedo made his way through the bar taking out a single rodian as well before engaging a group of rebels trying to flee down a ladder who were already taking fire from Bossk and Dengar above. Some of the rebels managed to get into a basement tunnel . Pao: See! I told you those Rodians were no good to us. They were into some kind of trouble and brought bounty hunters here. Before they could do anything another bounty hunter, 4-Lom, caught them totally off guard and started blasting away killing two of the rebels while one managed to slip away just before Bossk arrived. Bossk: *into the commlink* Admiral Thrawn, we got the Kyber. When do we get our money? Thrawn: When the empire is back in possession of the Kyber. I am dispatching a recovery team now. I'll notify the emperor. -----------------------------------------------------

Just figured I'd drop an update here guys. The staff is all pretty busy building for upcoming events, prepping CP3, scoring, and building for other EuroBricks events. We may be a little slower than usual getting scores back to you, but don't let that stop you from posting builds. We are hoping to have your scores to you soon. Thanks!- 315 replies

I hate to be "that guy" but is there a time frame / legends or canon setting at all?
