  1. I like it, looks a lot like a Magnum. The real Magnum is very boxy, so your MOC is very accurate I think. There was a member posting a Magnum inspired MOC too here : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52748&st=0&p=941567&hl=renault%20magnum&fromsearch=1entry941567 The headlights should be moved one brick inward imo, and the tires and wheels should be equalized with the ones on the trailer. That way you'll get a smaller wheels on the truck, which I think is how they look on a real Magnum, in comparison with the size of the cab, check this pic, notice how 'small' the tires look, although they're mounted on a 22,5" wheels, which equates to around 1 meter tall in real life! I've heard rumors too if the driver slips off the cab on a Magnum, he'll end up breaking a foot on the way down , I mean this thing is VERY tall..it's like a double decker bus. You could commit suicide jumping off it too
  2. Very nice article! I had just got back into Lego City/Town. Though I'm more interested in the vehicles, 6 wide trucks to be precise. I've always thought it would be nice indeed to incorporate them into a street scene/diorama layout. I'm planning to make a small rural town being passed by a huge, I mean huge heavy haulage transport, measuring around 70 studs long (MOC,almost done). It always amazes me to see actual heavy haulage transports to weave their way through tight traffics while pulling 250 tonnes of load.
  3. So what tune is that boombox playing there..? I'm hearing INXS's 'Suicide Blonde'. Man I LOVE that song. I like that wheel balancing machine so much. I might just MOC myself a tire dealer after seeing this. Are you planning to make wheel alignment machine too?
  4. Hmm..I guess I misunderstood..I thought when you said filling a gap, you were refering to build a building as in a bar/pubs Sorry mate
  5. Very nice, but why not make a more local tire dealer..like Bob Jane Tmart? All you need is some yellow and red bricks. Err...just a thought though. Nevertheless, this MOC is VERY nice..Just wondering though, where do they store that big tire up front, does it even fit the store?
  6. I think you misunderstood me. What I meant by "bar" was not a bar (as in a place to buy drinks). What I meant was, "roo" bar, other word for bull bars those extended front bumpers found on many Australian vehicles, to protect the vehicles and roo's during collision, like this:
  7. WOW..I couldn't even dream of building a MOC of this stature, let alone build it. Very nice..I like the convenience store, I believe I saw a pack of 'Panadol' on the shelf Exceptional detailings, you always seem to be "lightning" up this forum with your thunderous MOCs!! Despite all these, what caught my eye is that WHITE flatbed Ute,a typical Aussie outback utility vehicle . Looks like a Holden ute with that raked windshield? I could be wrong though..but it's definitely not an Effie,Patrol or Hilux.Where's the 'roo' bar mate?
  8. Nice cute little jeep! Reminds me of a Suzuki Sierra in size. Great job. !
  9. Again...which reminded me...I have 2 new sets of the 3179 Repair Truck! I already built one, the other one will be turned into parts used for my minifig scale Unimog U400 project, with bigger tires, again which I made in LDD. The real Unimog is also used for shunting purposes just like this one..I might just consider it. But I don't have any Lego trains or tracks to utilize it
  10. God, I really miss Oz..I used to live there for 4 years during the early 90's fyi, Sydney to be exact. I got a fair share of Lego madness there during my stay. That was also the time when they opened up the Lego store in Birkenhead Points, NSW. The last set was a technic, which I bought from David Jones during a xmas sale. 40% off for a flagship model. What a steal
  11. @lightningtiger I agree the detailing with those stickers is awesome! Which leads me to one question: How do you match the printing Pantone colors to the actual brick color? You seemed to do a pretty good job there, almost like an official Lego stickers. I'm currently designing the logo for my heavy hauler. It'll take a while to complete since I'm waiting for additional parts to be shipped from BL. so in the meantime I just do stickers first.I have red bricks which will have stickers with red background on them.
  12. Thanks, mate! Well that crossed my mind about making a brickbuilt steps, but wouldn't they be too thick and fragile? I would like to retain the thin steps/ladders just like when you see the real truck. Any ideas on the bed? What part number is the bed of the 7344? I'll try experimenting with technic panels.
  13. Despite the cleaning ability, I read that the bricks may also get brittle. I would be careful on bushes and gears. I've had many Technic bushes that split in two over time..wouldn't this make parts from older sets even more brittle? Idk..just a thought.
  14. Sorry for cluttering the forum with virtual models..can't help it LDD-ing is cheap, fun, fast and makes alternating a model's build easier..especially if you're unsure and need suggestions, like err..this one. While deciding what load my Scania T-series will be pulling along, I made something huge out of impulse. Lego did made a set of huge dumptruck the 7344, but I think the proportion is all wrong. So I made my own. Influenced by the Terex Dumptrucks..with their distinctive sloped hood and white color. Comparison in size with the 7631 dumptrucks, I made the big one in a more appropriate yellow.. I need ideas for the bed, more realistic hand railing and ladder..the truck is 12 wide, I need a bed which is around 12 x 12 big.. The ladder, if you're wondering is held in that angle with the help of a 1 x 8 plate, which protrudes 1 stud on both side of the hood, enough for the ladder to 'rest' upon. Or I could just turn it into a semi tractor like this. Please share your comments and ideas
  15. It's been a while since I laughed looking at a Lego creation.. Nice simple creation! Maybe the shades the cop is wearing caused him to step on that 'K9 land mines'
  16. You could ask a friend who owns a regular bubble jet printer or the like. Get a digital printing sticker paper, should be easily obtainable at your local stationary shops. However since these are water based inks, it's a good idea to laminate them with a clear 3M tapes, before cutting the stickers. This will protect them from getting smudged should you accidently spat on them..
  17. What's a used car lot without the chattery, persuasive, sometimes manipulative salesman? Don't forget to add some stickers on the windscreen suggesting the asking price, milage, year etc on each car. Yeah you should use glass frames for the front office to make it more like a dealership. I'm looking forward to see the finished project
  18. @gcanik I thing that's the unique characteristic of any City vehicles. They are slightly cartoonish in proportion like a too small of a wheel and tire..then again that's what makes Lego unique in its on way. @Fuzzylegobricks The escort vehicles will be minivan type, just like in Europe where they use Ford Transits and the likes with huge chevron pattern across the back, when I say huge, I mean huge, entirely covering the back. The load will be construction machines, most likely one of the 2009 City construction set
  19. Hello again guys, this is my current "LDD project turns reality". I'm building a heavy hauler which comsists of four seperate main parts : prime mover, low loader trailer, the load, and the escort vehicle. I'd only finished building the prime mover, so I thought I would share this. As the title says "European" longnose prime mover in the European heavy haulage scenes. The design is inspired by one of the very last longnose design in the European trucking industry, the ever popular Scania T-Series, which is sadly had been discontinued recently by Scania due to restricting truck length regulations. If you don't know what a Scania T-Series is, here's some pics of the real thing. The T-series has a distinctive full width stubby nose, as opposed to American longnose which narrows towards the front. See the Lego 3221 for an example of "American" longnose prime mover. As I said earlier, the design is inspired..I'm not trying to make it an exact Scania replica due to brick limitations. I opt for a 3180 style 'fifth wheel', and made the 3180 as a standard for my MOC prime mover. So here are the design concept pics in "El Dee Dee" (hmm sounds like a Spanish fighting bull..) and pics of it in real bricks This prime mover dwarfs the one from the 3180 a bit. The colors are red and white with some stripes. The truck consists of around 170 parts, and is very solidly build, I was actually surprised of how heavy it turned out. The cab is the popular six wide wedge plate roof, with an added height of 2 plates to mimic the sleeper cab, with an added deflector. There are no visible smoke stacks because these Euro trucks usually run a 'discreet' exhaust behind the sideskirts..yea right discreet ..ever heard the loud noise emited from a straight piped Scania V8 chugging 60 tonnes GCW up a gradient? Unlike some Euro prime movers which run a single rear axle, this has double. I want to build a typical 6x4 UK based company prime mover, which typically has twin rear axles to comply with the axle load regulations, hence the right offset steering wheel. I went with the usual binocular air horns.. Thanks for looking guys.
  20. Nice, looks like a typical upscale neighbourhood type family, with all the champagne glass and classical piano, that's no Yamaha, more like $1 million Kuhn- Bösendorfer. You should pose them in a less formal gesture too..a candid mommy running around while the kids are chasing her while pouring a glass of champagne on her..pretend that it's the couple's marriage anniversary Why not try to replicate extra-ordinary family too? The Osbournes!! Rockstar's family always amazes me in some ways..with all that screw-ups, they seem to be held together somehow, or so as MTV had shown
  21. Excellent MOC! I really like the fact that you replicated the prime mover to look like a typical American long nosed conventional tractor. Looks like a MACK, or the early Ford LTL9000 tractor. That's a sweet long nosed! Just my $0.02 for improvements : - Longer low loader, lowboy if I'm not mistaken of its nickname in the States. - When making it longer, search for actual lowboy pics, and determine what kind of load it'll be carrying, how much weight is the load? this will determine how much longer you should build it and how many wheels to install. Some lowboys have an extendable features and smaller wheels usually up to 10 arrangements, complete with rear steering such as Goldhofer and Noteboom, go look on their sites for reference. - Move the fifth wheel hitch closer to the cab. This will position the ballast box in a more purposeful and logical way..to press down and aid traction for that 3 driven axles on the tractor. I'm building a low loader myself, Goldhofer extendable quad axle type..but it'll take a while for some parts to arrive from BL Again, great MOC! Keep it up
  22. Since we're talking about painting tools...here's my idea based on that picture. Remove the wrench at the top, and place the blue cylinder brick instead. Voila, you've got yourself a modern painting apparatus..a gravity fed spray gun the blue cylinder will act as the paint container. This will work well in any auto repair shop.
  23. The overall shape is really good, I like it! Now please show us the interior and build the car to go with it.
  24. Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions & comments, you guys are the BEST! So, during coffee break at work this morning, I made another alterations based on all your inputs. The decks are now tiled, with connecting walkway on the upper deck so our minifig passengers can stroll from the front to back without 'accidently' falling down on the lower deck . I might do the detachable top as Zeon suggested, seems like a good idea for showing off the interior of the bus. I might also utilize the lower section beneath the stair with a 2 x 2 x3 cabinet to store some delicious snacks and cold beverages. I need suggestions for hand rails and the baggage compartment doors. The main passenger doors will be stickered on the lower half, so it doesn't look like convenient store's doors Thanks again guys, I can't wait to build this baby soon! My other project would be turning this into a $7 million mobile home for the rich jetsets, complete with a jacuzzi, minibar, lounge, and slap some big "Fashion TV", or Victoria's Secret decals on the side. The bus will be black with red and magenta interior. Now that's pimpin'!
  25. Before I shut down my PC (it's 10pm local time), I made a slight mod on the interior with stairs some plates removed from the upper deck around the upper end of the stairs. The stairs are 2 studs wide, with a right side offset directly next to the mid passenger door. Which makes sense I guess, since the passengers enter from the mid door, leading straight to the stairs. Here's a cutaway view of the bus for better visibility of the stairs.
