The next Doctor is a much bigger global event than the next Bond. The next actor to play the Doctor is literally announced in front of a massive global audience now - in 2013 it got its own half-hour show devoted completely to announcing Peter Capaldi as the next incarnation, and last year they shot a whole reveal video that was aired during a major sporting event revealing the first female Doctor (a gigantic TV event comparable only to the fiftieth anniversary special The Day of the Doctor). James Bond would be lucky to have anything more than a two minute news story on BBC News showing who the next James Bond is. Doctor Who's fiftieth anniversary had an entire week of TV Specials devoted to it , and a feature-length movie (which sold out immediately in cinemas - not a mean feat when cinema has lost popularity in recent years) with the two most popular Doctors ever to grace screens returning in in David Tennant and Tom Baker, and one of the biggest film stars of all time in the late Sir John Hurt. James Bond's fiftieth anniversary only had one film with no returning James Bonds and a bunch of cheap men's fragrances that probably make you smell nothing like Daniel Craig. I can name far more who have seen a Doctor Who episode than a James Bond film. Doctor Who is a much bigger global franchise; just look at the number of viewers it attracts worldwide. James Bond has gained more popularity under Daniel Craig, but doesn't attract anywhere near as much media frenzy. James Bond wants to be as popular as Doctor Who, but it will never have a 'James Bond Week' of TV Specials.

But it should be in order to be comprehendible. Incredibles first, then Incredibles 2. That's basic logic.

You've got to be joking. James Bond is hugely popular, but it's a fraction of the popularity of Doctor Who. You don't have live shows announcing the next James Bond, or James Bond World Tours. The Doctor Who sets made a fortune for LEGO. They sold out in no time, yet for some reason they think James Bond is more popular.

That's ridiculously stupid. Who do they expect will buy two versions of the same set?- 8,371 replies

A bit of an insult to Whovians for LEGO to make James Bond sets over more Doctor Who ones. I know which would make them more money, and it's not LEGO James Bond.

The D2C microscale Hogwarts thing is obviously fake. They won't do Hogwarts twice. It'll be Diagon Alley.- 8,371 replies

Very odd decision. It must make it a little jumbled up.

I think you're right. I think this one is basically just a cheap film tie-in for Traveller's Tales, whereas LEGO DC Supervillains is more of a passion project.

Maybe Emmet could team up with the Doctor to save the universe? -
The LEGO Movie 2: References Predictions?
LEGODalekbuster523 replied to Dorayaki's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
It can't be 13. Nobody apart from BBC executives, Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker herself even knew who was playing the next Doctor before July last year. LEGO certainly wouldn't have been in the know. How could they have possibly written and shot a cameo for the Thirteenth Doctor without even knowing who 13 is, or what her personality is like? The Twelfth Doctor will have been the current Doctor when The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was in production, so it's much more likely Peter Capaldi will have been brought in to voice him. -

They wouldn't have had time to record a 13 cameo regardless. The Twelfth Doctor would be the one to show up. -

Add me to the list of people who think this looks great. Love the apocalyptic setting; I hope they haven't ditched the musical element though, as I think that would potentially offer a funny way to explore gender politics. -

The fact that the other sets all have pieces of Hogwarts that connect to create the iconic castle says otherwise.- 8,371 replies
