  1. That's not bad.
  2. Agreed I'm not sure sure about the black lattice either. I might try painting it to see what that looks like but if I'm still not happy I'll look at some engine mods.
  3. Ha yes he is a little Another good thing about store cockups, is since that store is sending you replacements anyway you can stick bits you youself have mucked up into that package and save the postage. So my missing inverted slopes should be coming in one of my corrections. Of course it would still have been better not to have cocked it up myself in the first place
  4. More orders have arrived. So far I'm up to 4221 parts with only 3 orders left to get here. Even got a bonus Stormtrooper from one of the sellers who got my order wrong I could probably start building now, but kinda feel like I should wait until I've got everything first just to build the anticipation!
  5. Will follow this with interest. I'm sort of tempted to do this at some point (but currently doing the MF so it will have to wait a while!)
  6. The last built one (with correct pieces) I saw sell on ebay in the UK went for £370.
  7. That's just silly money......
  8. Damn sounds like more of a challenge than I thought.....
  9. I've not actually compiled my list yet, but some parts seem to be unavailable, and some rare and expensive. €300 doesn't seem too bad, depending on what bits have been subbed.....
  10. Ahh plastikote/plastidip..... didn't think of that! I'm quite tempted by that A-wing myself
  11. Somewhat off-topic Tie shot
  12. Thanks Lobot Three more deliveries arrived yesterday, from Italy, Ireland and Denmark. Couple of lots were wrong, but the sellers are correcting and service has been excellent. Very impressed with my Bricklink experience so far! I'm now up to around 3200 pieces Oh and my UCS Tie Fighter arrived as well, so I've got something to build while I'm waiting
  13. I'm bricklinking one atm (see the YABUM thread) and I've just substituted a load of stuff. It's never going to be a 'genuine' set (with a box, manual, stickers etc) so why spend the money to make it look perfect. Chances are I'll do some mods as well, as I'll be less 'precious' about it.
  14. Hah small world
  15. Hmmm could be worth a go
  16. I'm currently at ~1700. You know OpenBet?
  17. Bunch more bits arrived :D
  18. Thanks very helpful!
  19. Wow this is fantastic! Wish I had the imagination (and time) to design and build things like this from scratch!
  20. Damn those levers!!!! Like the Falcon, I can cope with some weird substitues - no-one but me that sees them is going to know, and I'd rather have something in the collection than nothing. But unlike the Falcon, I don't want to spend a fortune on something smaller than the Y-Wing, so I'll have to do some parts checking and see how bad it looks. Amazingly despite being around 4000 parts fewer than the Falcon, it's pretty close to the same number of unique lots!
  21. It's great looking, but is it a bit small though? I've got most of the UCS fighter-sized models, so it needs to 'fit' on display next to them.....
  22. Interesting! Looks like someone is actually trying to build it as well Found this on http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/BTL_Y-wing_starfighter, so yes looks like the Y-wings were generally hacked about and could look different depending on pilot/engineer.
  23. Some excellent points there guys - thanks very much! Always wanted one of these (and an A-wing) so will start working on a parts list and stuff
  24. I'm starting to think about what I'll do once I finish the MF, and looking at the UCS sets I'm missing that I care about, namely Y-Wing ISD Tie Advanced Death Star II I think the Y-Wing is the one I'm missing most, so I've been looking at the parts list, and the most concerning part I can see is the white wheel rims. You can't seem to buy those anywhere. Also the white corrigated tube used on the engine struts. They are very expensive and there are 112 of them. Is there any decent alternative to using those? Or is it basically the case that that part will just eat up a significant chunk of the budget of building a 10134 and tough. The other problem seemed to be the wheel rims used at the end Given I'm bricklinking and it's not a 'genuine' set, I'm less concerned about substitutions in the same vein as building the Falcon. Are there any other hard parts for this one? I tried googling but there seemed much less info on building one of these compared to the Falcon. Thanks!
  25. I've seen a few LED mods and it does look good. Not sure which way to go yet though - the one where you keep the 1x2 trans-blue tiles or the one with the 1x1 blue studs. TBH though I think I'll just get it built first and then go from there :) First order I made has arrived from Lego. They gave me a few extras which was nice. However I must have had a spreadsheet cockup as I ordered a load of 2x4 slopes, when I was supposed to order 2x2 inverted slopes. So now I've a) paid an extra £5 and b) don't have the slopes I need Oh well, think I'll wait until the end and do 1 correction order from Lego, as I'm bound to have made some other mistakes!
