Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
temes replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I agree, I recently paid 2x the original price for new sealed FB. Although it was expensive, I felt that the price was somewhat reasonable. However, the prices of CC & GG are way too much to even consider purchasing them... and to be honest, I don't even like GG that much, but slightly updated re-release of CC with interior would be awesome. -
Now that the Disney minifigures are pretty much confirmed, do you think buildings from Duckburg are possible? Like Donald Duck's house and Granma Duck's farm? I hope those would be "proper" sets, like the Simpsons house but maybe slightly smaller (less expensive).
-
Pet Shop is probably going to get retired in 2016 and I hope the 2017 modular would be 2 separate buildings again like Pet Shop. I like how those smaller (narrower) buildings bring variety to the modular street and apartment buildings make it look more realistic.

Analysis of 2016 LEGO Architecture sets...
temes replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love the Venice set, because all the buildings fit together nicely and they have similar style. That Venice set will be the first architecture set I buy. Berlin & New York sets with different style buildings are realistic because those cities are like that, but as a Lego sets they are not that pleasant for my eyes. -
OK, sorry. I did read the guidelines, but obviously I didn't understand them correctly. You can delete this topic, thanks.

Welcome to the Winter Guest House! During the holiday season it’s cold outside, but inside the guest house it’s warm and cosy. Enjoy coffee or hot chocolate in the 1st floor bar, maybe some cupcakes too? Or maybe it's time to relax by the fireplace, there’s some inviting armchairs. The 2nd floor has two guest rooms, including a deluxe guest room with luxurious king-size bed. The 3rd floor attic has some extra beds for the busy winter season. I'm new to the LEGO community, I bought my first LEGO set (Pet Shop) few months ago after 20 years of the dark age. I've posted this to Lego Ideas, if you like it I'd appreciate your support, thanks!

Do you think there will be a completely new Winter Village set next year, re-design of some old set or nothing? I read from somewhere that a brand new set was designed this year, but it couldn't be released because of factory schedule or something like that, and TLC decided to release a Toy Shop re-design instead, is there any truth in that?

I loved LEGO when I was a kid, but I lost my interest when I became teenager (or maybe I just felt that they were just too childish to play at that age). After that I haven't really been interested in the LEGO stuff, but occasionally I have seen some pictures of the modular buildings and I've thought that I'd really like to get them... but maybe the time hasn't been right to come back to the LEGO world... ... until last year. Both me and partner are big Simpsons fans and last year I saw those LEGO Simpsons minifigures in store. They were an easy way to begin collecting LEGO stuff again - theme was interesting (and maybe more "adult" than normal minifigures), they were cheap and small. I began to follow LEGO news randomly and in August this year I saw the announcement of the Winter Toy Shop. I used to love that kind of small and cute LEGO houses when I was a kid, I thought it would be a nice decoration for Christmas and I decided to buy it when it becomes available. After that I began to follow LEGO news more often and I became more and more interested about collecting the modular buildings, which I have admired for years. Finally last month I bought my first modular building, the Pet Shop.

Nowadays Lego uses much more small decoration pieces. For example the 1984 King's Castle (6080) had 674 pieces. The 2014 King's Castle (70404) had a similar footprint, but it had 996 pieces, it was more complex and more detailed.

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
temes replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree, it looks good and it's accurate, but as a Lego building it's not as attractive as the modular buildings, for example Fire Brigade which has somewhat similar style looks much nicer in my opinion. I like Ghostbusters but I'm not a huge fan, so I'll probably skip this... and it's so large that it's difficult to put on display. -
The train promo ends November 20th, so I guess the gingerbread promo could start at the same time everywhere... I guess it can't be much later than November 27th.

I think the Empire State Building is about 20 bricks high & Flatiron is about 5 bricks high. I like the idea in these cityscapes, but in my opinion New York & Berlin sets have too different kind of buildings and they don't fit together nicely (I know they are more realistic that way of course, but it just doesn't look that good in here IMO). For that reason, I really like the Venice set, because the building sizes and styles fit together nicely.

I wish it was €169, because in Finland it's €179. For some reason Lego has quite big price differences in different euro countries.

It's not as amazing as Parisian Restaurant, but it's very good anyway and I like it. It's nice to see a different kind of corner building. I wasn't that interested in the bank theme when I heard the rumours about it, but it's better and more interesting than I expected.

I'm tired to Angry Birds, but I have to say that the movie trailer looks much better than I expected.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Do you think some kind of asian-inspired tea house or something like that would fit to the other modular buildings? There's a lot of re-usable asian-inspired stuff in the Ninjago series. -
Yeah, it seems to be now available in my country as well. Hopefully it'll still be available when that holiday train promo starts.

I'm new to this theme, is there any possibility that last year's winter set will be available again?

Actually I'm afraid to begin collecting them, because who knows what may happen? Maybe my dream of caribbean vacation will vanish, because I have to buy the Green Grocer. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
temes replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I haven't built Lego bricks since I was a kid, and now at 35 I'm thinking about beginning to collect the modular sets. However, I'd like to ask something from you who have more experience about them. 1. Does Lego give any warning before they discontinue a set? Or do they just suddenly remove it from their online store? 2. Currently there are 4 sets available, is there any pattern when one of them will be discontinued, maybe when they release a new one next year? 3. I'd love to buy the parisian restaurant as my first modular set, but because it's quite new and won't be discontinued anytime soon, I don't know if I should buy Pet Shop or Palace Cinema first, because those are the oldest ones. Any ideas? I might be able to buy two sets a year, but I'm not going to pay the insane eBay prices. 4. This is not related to the modular sets, but is there any specific timeframe or pattern when double vip points happens? ... it's quite difficult to begin collecting these this late, when there are so many sets which are already very rare and expensive. I guess I have to accept that I'm not going to get them all. By the way, do you buy every modular set or just the ones that you really like?
