  1. This thing is fun to drive, but steering will require 95% focus, sometimes you don't have time to react to trees that come too close, or if you look at the car while driving it, your hands will slip away from the controls and you can't steer anymore... But it's definitely FUN to drive! Especially down stairs Thanks miguev for letting me be a driver!
  2. This is a nice one! I like how you modelled the triangular lattice jib boom. Very clever how you avoided building a tricky angle but still convey the same thing! Can't wait to see it in action! Also wow, you've come so far already!
  3. I like this MOC! I especially appreciate the compact design of the drum unit. It's a technic marvel! Great job! Also tower cranes are my second-most favourite crane, after crawler cranes. Have you thought of building ?
  4. Thanks! I'm not sure I know how to build big models like most people are doing... Yes indeed, that's my basis; it's where most of my crane-like pieces came from originally. I've ordered more in the same colour scheme now. I'm going to make the modular boom sections white, and all other pieces red, so the boom will be white with red accents, and the base will probably be white, with maybe some red thrown in. Also keeping it in a similar scale as that one, but will motorise and sbrick it (probably no driving, though; no space, anyway these things don't drive around a lot once assembled, and travel to the site in pieces.).
  5. Here is my WIP for TC8. I'm building a modular crawler crane in the style of Fuwa QUY400A. The crane can be assembled with or without the mast, the main boom can be either with a jib or without. For this purpose I'm building it in a modular way, so that I can change configuration. Here is some of my progress so far. Here is my modular boom, that I'm going to build several times. This is the placeholder for my base, while I work on the boom http://www.brickshel...0912_170045.jpg This is the "foot" of the boom. The pishpin is used to put the next section of the boom in place while the 3L axels are pushed in to loch the section in to place (I have a pic of that later). http://www.brickshel...0912_170154.jpg This is the main boom section. I'm going to make 4 or 5 of these to build my full crane. http://www.brickshel...0912_170226.jpg Here is the connection in a closeup http://www.brickshel...0912_170251.jpg I have gotten a bit further than that, but sadly, no pics, and I'm traveling for the week :( I'm struggling with the base, since my inspiration, has the cable spools in the boom, which is very hard to do. I might just deviate from the truth and put the cable spools into the main body. Stay tuned, I'll get more progress in a week. :) (sorry no images in this post, I'm not allowed to do that [yet, I suspect and hope])
  6. Impressive! I could watch it go for hours... It's an elegant machine. The result looks pretty tight too.
  7. Thanks! That puts me at ease! This is going to be so much fun! I think I'm going to try to cover the thing with panels that open... I hope it'll work out.
  8. Thanks! I hope all will go according to my plan! Well, hello! Haha! That sounds dangerous ... for the EV3 But yeah the EV3 is probably my favourite LEGO brick. If you do get the EV3, also get yourself a rechargeable battery an charger for it, otherwise you end up buying so many batteries... Or else use rechargeable... But the EV3 battery is totally worth it.
  9. Thanks all! I also look forwards to interacting with the community here, and bouncing off ideas. So far I've only had my colleague to do that with.
  10. This is a great contest, infact so great that I decided to sign up because of it. So thanks for posting it. I'm going to go with simple rather than large, and I hope you'll find my lattice boom interesting. Since I'm new and all, I'm not quite sure how to sign up, just start a post in approx one week with my WIP? I don't want to miss out, since I've already started, once I saw the post. Also what's the general opinion here, cover it up with panels or leave it open to show all the nice moving parts?
  11. Hello, my name is Wolf. I grew up building with LEGO, I had basically a room full of them, but then I moved out from home and lost my LEGOs. Years later I found that my colleague was also in to LEGO, but LEGO Technic, which was new to me. I decided to give it a go with 8288 (the red crawler crane), and Loved it! I then started tinkering more with LEGO technic expanding the crane, and seeing if I could motorize it, but it ended up as one of those things that I'd take out and poke at when I had a spare minute or two, but never really resulted in anything. I signed up now because of TC8. I love cranes of all sorts! For TC8 I'll build a.. Well you'll have to wait for me to post my official topic on it. In addition to technic, I'm in to Lego Star Wars - I'm collecting all AT-AT models (have only one big left, and a few of the tiny ones). I modified my . The SBrick is great, but the 10178 is not great at walking. I might do something about that later.Last Christmas I got my very own EV3. So far I've built a standard track3r (okay, I modified it a bit), but I run with the Open Source ev3dev, so that I can code my robot in a real programming language (for the moment it means C++, it might change in the future). I really love to combine my coding hobby with my LEGO hobby! I recently started also collecting some City LEGO, specifically the arctic series, after my wife surprised me with a 60034 Arctic Helicrane set one afternoon! You got to love those huskies! Anyways, that's enough of me. I hope I'm going to have fun here and will try to share some of my projects I'm working on, and TC8, what a great challenge!
