LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Totoro replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm going to take a random guess based on my experience of the other huge UCS sets like the Falcon and the Star Destroyer. But the shipping boxes for those sets are pretty much the exact size of the set itself, so I'm guessing there's no room for the GWP in there, and so they have to ship it separately. -

Well, at least it's something! It definitely looks a little more pleasing with a 6 at the beginning. I see the set hasn't sold out either, which is strange for a UCS Star Wars set. -

Maybe I missed something since a little earlier in the month, but I just checked the LEGO Store website and it's showing the UCS AT-AT in stock for £699.99 now? Was it not £750? Did they quickly realise that £750 was unpalatable for most people? -

We seem to get scr*wed time and time again by LEGO. UCS Falcon: $800, £650 UCS Star Destroyer: $700, £650 UCS AT-AT: $800, £750 -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Totoro replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, I don't have either set, but from what I have seen in videos, the Titanic is pretty densely packed inside, with the structure to hold it together and interior detailing. I imagine it must be pretty heavy. As for the AT-AT, I mean, the main body of it looks essentially a hollow cavity filled with minifig seating. I cannot imagine the AT-AT weighs anywhere close to what the Titanic does. But again, that's pure guessing. I have neither set. I would definitely be interested to know what the weight of both sets are. I just feel like, £750 is just a push too far. Like you, it's a question of how on earth to afford such a thing. £650 is already a push, but it feels like £750 is a push too far, unless there's very significant discounts at some point. -

I have to say, I thought the RRP was going to be £650, the same as the Falcon and the Star Destroyer. I know that Brexit happened and yada yada, but the RRP in the US is $800, the same as it was for the UCS Falcon, and that was £650. -

I honestly don't understand the price of the AT-AT. £750. I get that this thing is huge, but it doesn't look any bigger than the Titanic set, and that is £570. -
REVIEW: 71030 LEGO Minifigures - Looney Tunes Series 1
Totoro replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
I love the figures. I'm so happy we're getting Looney Tunes figures. But.. where the heck is Elmer Fudd? I mean, you've got Bugs in there, you've got the "Rabbit Season" sign, but no Elmer? I feel like Yosemite Sam should have been in there too. And Pepe Le Pew (although, we all know he got cancelled recently). Hopefully they are just saving some of those for a series 2, along with Foghorn Leghorn, Gossamer and others. I watched a LOT of Looney Tunes as a kid, but I have to admit I have no idea who the female pig is? Considering they got 3 of each, except for 6 of Roadrunner, I'm guessing that 3 of those Roadrunners should have been Wile E. Coyotes. -
Gutted they didn't choose Naruto: Ichiraku Ramen Shop, Temple of Hermit or the Clipper. But I'm happy about Sonic! That's a definite buy for me! As for the painting... meh.

I'm so excited for this one! I'm so happy that they eventually made the right choice. Thank you @toastergrl Now if they would only make some Mario minifig sets.

Oh right. Thanks for clearing that up. I appreciate it!

Okay, maybe I'm going crazy, but did they change the design of the 1x1 round tile gauges? Every picture I've seen of this set online, and the pictures in the instructions, show the gauge design with the silver tab at the bottom and the silver dot in the middle, but all of mine in came like this - Misprint? Or changed design? Or is it a different version? I'm just confused because the instructions show a different thing, and all the pictures I've seen from other people show the silver on the gauge. But I just checked the Bricks and Pieces section of the site, and it shows the gauge I have.

Studio Ghibli for me.

The thing that annoys me the most is the roof. Why the hell are the trusses exposed on the ends like that without the slates on top of them? Have the designers at LEGO seen any roof ever? Was looking forward to this set so much and this is so disappointing.

It's gone from looking authentic, to looking like a fake Disneyland recreation. I absolutely hate everything about it. This is by far the worst change from the original design. I don't think that LEGO should be allowed to make such significant changes to what was voted on. I bet a lot of people that voted for the original design, would not have voted for the LEGO redesign.
-
I voted for the original blacksmith, but absolutely would not have voted for the revised version. It's gone from looking actually medieval, to looking like a fake Disneyland version. This is by far the most disappointed I've been in the change from the original. I can't even work out who it will appeal to any more.

I don't understand their thinking. They say that these ship ideas overlap with the Pirates of Barracuda Bay. But they're fine constantly approving further sitcom casts in their living spaces.

Is this the first photo of the upcoming LEGO Creator 31109 Pirate Ship?
Totoro replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Haven't bought this set yet. I'm going to wait for an offer and hopefully get it for around £70 instead of £90. The brick built sails actually don't bother me in the slightest. I actually think they look pretty cool. And I really like the brick build hull too. The things that bother me the most are: the lack of door on the Captain's cabin - I mean, what the heck? And that God-awful mermaid on the front. Some of the rigging looks a little off too. -
Which is your preferred skull & bones emblem?
Totoro replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Pirates
I get that they changed the design to make it look more like a skull that would belong in a minifig head... but I don't think they achieved that at all. But the thing I don't like about it, is that the design is more childish and cartoony. It also looks deformed. I prefer the ones that look more realistic. And I really like the skull design on the one with the cutlasses. Never seen that design before. -
Very cool! I really love the idea of torn sails for the wrecked ship. I assume that it's not too difficult to print the red stripes on both sides of the sails? It's one thing that really bothers me about the original LEGO sails, making the ship only look good from one side!
-
Yes, I could do that as a temporary measure. Thanks for the suggestion :D I wonder if there's a way to add an alert on Bricklink for pieces you are wishing for. Surely there must be? I know there's a section for colours people want bricks in. EDIT: Found the option for email alerts on Bricklink, so hopefully it will notify me when/if that piece ever shows up in yellow.

I really wanted to swap out the window frame of the Captain's Cabin with yellow bricks, so that it looks more like the original BSB. The parts highlighted in red below. But it turns out you can't get those rounded 1x1 bricks in yellow - RIP my dreams.
-
The one and only disappointment of the new LEGO Ideas BSB is the sails. The original 89 BSB has the stripes printed back and front. But the new LEGO Ideas BSB only has print on one side, and that means the ship only displays well from one side. I know that LEGO have only printed on one side for a long time now, but it really bugs be that the sails on the new BSB are inferior to the original 89 BSB sails.

Wow, I came here to answer this question, and there's my first two pirate sets right there. The Caribbean Clipper and Sabre Island. They were also my first LEGO sets of any theme. Unfortunately, I was less than 10 years old when I had these sets and they were well and truly played with, and are missing a LOT of pieces, and the pieces I do have, aren't in the best shape. I dug out my childhood tub of LEGO a couple of weeks ago and tried to find the remaining pieces of my Caribbean Clipper. I'm missing 84 pieces (including the sails and the flag clips are broken). I'm planning on restoring it to its former glory though.

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
Totoro replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
When I made the bay, I actually decided not to add the sails to it as I figured that rolling them up would be a bad idea. I converted it to the ship yesterday and I'm definitely glad I made that decision. One thing I really don't like about the sails (and it's my main gripe about this set), is that LEGO only print the stripes on one side. I know it's been that way for years now, but it really hurts the aesthetic of the ship. The original 89 BSB has the stripes printed back and front, so I don't know why since then, they have put out inferior sails. For the main sails, it doesn't matter so much, but for the two smaller sails front and back, it means the ship only looks good from one side. Very frustrating.
