  1. Oh dont worry, i only spend time on lego when i feel like it anyway As for 8051, i do keep an eye out, but looking at the bricklink priceguide doesnt give me much hope. And honestly, with my 42036 looking like it does, i feel a bit less bad for missing that one
  2. Thanks! ill definitely give the chain-inside-swing-arm thing a go, but itll have to wait a few months as i have other stuff that i want to do first, if i get it looking good ill definitely post it here As for 8051, im still beating myself over the head for not getting that set when i could, prices in the used market are way above MSRP, and ive seen MISB sets go as high as €200, its crazy, and i hate that i missed it, as it would have made an ideal base for a good Triumph Street triple model (it already basicly is, with the twin headlights and i3 engine)
  3. Thats pretty good looking for "crap", a little tweaking will get this thing looking good enough to match the F40 Intersting steering too, and kudos for RCing it in such a small package
  4. This is the current state of my 42036, ive done a lot of color changes (ducati inspired), and i changed the exhaust location, both the end of the pipes and the origin, so it looks more real. Also added two small fairings on either side to close up the bodywork a bit, that bit below the saddle looked a bit empty with the exhaust relocated. Overall im really happy with the look, ideally id want to move the chain inside the swing-arm, and maybe shorten the swing-arm by a stud, and change pull apart the swing arm mounting from the drive axle. Im really enjoying modding this thing, im even halfway tempted to buy a second one, do a different color scheme, and try to fit in a different engine (an inline 3 or 4), but with all the color changes it would probably end up costing a lot of extra in parts.
  5. Thats a shitty way to get lego, but at least you know you shared a passion with your friend, and he could at least pass knowing his sets were going to be appreciated. And it gives you some very nice mementos of you friend EDIT: Received two BL orders, used the parts in one to mod my 42036 street bike, the other one is for modding the 42039 24 le-mans car And promptly placed another bricklink order once i found out the shop i just bought from had a whole bunch of hard to find red panels, and added some more red parts and some pins etc.. Bricklink and tech modding are a dangerous combo for my wallet
  6. All those indian trucks were insane, so colorful and nicely painted :)
  7. Im leaning in that direction as well, the ship in the teaser also clearly doesnt have any bottom wings, while the lego craft features them clearly. They might be closely related in universe, and it might turn out to be the same after all, with lego having based their design on early concept art, but im seeing a little to many differences to believe they are the same ship
  8. Not the best review IMHO, the lighting was especially poor.. As for the set, waaaaaay to many stickers, and it looks pretty bland in the brick TBH, i do like the "skirts" on the snowies.
  9. I like the exo-suit, its a nice mech, and the packaging etc.. really felt like some next level stuff, luxury so to speak. I do have one gripe, and that is the fore-arms, the construction is just a bit flimsy, the hands dont always hold position, and its too easy to disconnect them altogether. I might pick up a second one if i see a clearance deal, and try to fix the arms on that one, and id definitely pick up any follow-up set, hell, i bought my first ninjago set (the electromech) so my exo-suit could have a playmate.
  10. Yup, SW lego seems ridiculously overpriced here in europe, compared to the non-licensed sets. The price on stuff like the AT-DP and Tie proto really keep me from buying, and the new sith infiltrator is just insane (€110 for 662 parts). For the forseeable future my SW purchases will be limited to microfighters and used sets from years gone by, at least those can sometimes be had for a decent price. As for the snowspeeder, without seeing the movie, my feeling is that it should've been a small battlepack style vehicle, but it depends on what kind of role it plays in TFA i guess, if they are just part of a FO assault or base scenes, a battlepack would've been much more apt.
  11. Haha, i love that, love how the youtube play icon is positioned, kept me wondering until it started playing! On topic, ordered some extra parts for modding my 42036 further last night, and i should receive another BL order today, so more tinkering tonight, in addition to wasting most of the workday on here killing time. And trying not to order more stuff.... budget and all that.
  12. Thanks for the reply! Im fine with using used parts, so i might be able to save some money there. Again, kudos for the models, and for what its worth, id prefer a more accurate model with rare parts and some extra cost over a "not quite it" model just for the sake of saving some bucks, these things look really good, and compromising on that would be a shame.
  13. The porsche 919/917 is likely to be a ferrari truck style set, two cars with a LOT of extra stuff thrown in. The $100 F40/Mini style sets arent Speed Champion sets, but expert level Creator.
  14. Ouch, do you normally have a budget, so to speak you base your designs on? Do your new designs start out cheaper in terms of part-cost, and then go up? Id love one of these cars (probably the 312T), but 300 euros will take some saving up (and putting other projects on hold)
  15. Was afraid of that. To me it really depends on what comes with the set, at first i was only interested in the cars, so the porsche GT set felt like two cars with €25 of extra stuff i didnt care about thrown in, which is a bit hard to swallow. Now though, im planning to do a race track build, so the start/finish stuff and a pit-lane from the 919/917 set might actually be very useful. Still, it's easier to budget in a €40 set then a €90 set if the main attraction is just two cars.
  16. Ouch, i missed that set as well (didnt even know about it till i read your post), and while i also have, and love the utility shuttle, this model is much better, the rear engine pods, the wing flaps and just general size.. My own personal "one that got away" is the 8051 technic street bike, saw it in shops a lot, but never picked it up because i was in a short "shadey age". Now i really regret not getting it, since second hand prices are far above new. Im compensating for it by pimping up the new 42036 street bike, so far ive spent a good €15 in bricklink orders for improving it.
  17. Im really stoked about the R8 LMS and the 919H/917K combo in adition to the R18, sooooo many le-mans goodness. The 458GT2 is my favorite from the 1st series for this very reason. I do hope the porsche set doesnt end up as expensive as the ferrari truck, if the set ends up the same price as the current porsche GT set ill pick it up though
  18. Hi guys, My name is Victor, and im from the Netherlands. Ive been into lego for as long as i remember, i got my first set when i was four or so, and barring a few years of dark ages in my late teens/early twenties, ive been enjoying lego for my entire life. These days im mostly into Technic/cars, with the odd star wars vehicle thrown in. Ive started modding my technic vehicles this year as well, and discovered briclink. Ive also been lurking on these forums for quite a while and figured it was time to join in! Greetings!
