Heroica RPG - Quest #4: Taming the Lions
Darkdragon replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I agree. We should head to the blotched name tent and stop at the other tents that are on the way. The guards seemed more worried about the whatever is going on in the fields though, when they were talking before getting knocked out." -

"We should grab the lantern and move on quickly." Cinna whispers. -
Since I don't collect anything (sets, minifigs, themes), I don't care about keeping figs together. I have them all parted out. I have heads separated by print (bearded, glasses, ladies, sunglasses, etc). I have torsos separated by color. I have legs separated by color with printed legs separate and also by color. I have weapons and tools separated by type. I have hair separated by color and typical gender. There is a photo of my minifig heads box in this thread. That has since been updated to a larger box but the basic idea is the same.

I'm interested in all the Space Skull sets and figures but worried about shipping cost to the USA. -

"Hmm. In that case perhaps De'kra, you could pick the lock? I hate to break down the door, as that seems like destruction of property for no good reason at this point." -

I know I wouldn't and I have bought (but overall been disapointed with) Halo sets from MB. I have a lot (a LOT) of MB Dragons sets from when they were cool, the new stuff looks horrible. There are some nice unique parts in MB and Kre-o, I just wish it would be made with better plastic so it wouldn't stand out so much in a MOC. One of the problems faced by those of us that might like to use other brand accessories is the rampant fanboyism that extends out to contests and conventions. On the one hand I can understand why, but on the other hand it makes it even harder to get comments if there are clone parts in a model (and for people like me, it's already hard to get any comments on MOCs anyway). Yes I agree and I think Pep agrees too. There are very few things I actually throw away, but I do use the term "throw out" to mean that I get rid of it. I never purposely destroy things just because they are not LEGO though.

I'll get some photos tonight. I'm sure they are from an Iron Man set due to the color (and there are some gold-ish parts too) and the stickers on some parts that say "Stark" or "Stark Industries". Yeah, unless they are actually broken, I put all the "clone" and random toys I find in bulk lots into another box that eventually will be donated to Goodwill or Savers along with other toys and kid clothes.

Another thread I never would have seen but actually have something to contribute to. A couple weeks ago at a TRU sale, I bought a bunch of LEGO sets. For some reason the checker gave me a KRE-O promo set. It was in a nice little box that looked like a 2x4 plate. Inside the box was an Optimus Prime figure and a booklet of all the other Transformers sets. The plastic of the figure parts was fairly weak, not as bad as MB plastic but nowhere near LEGO plastic. The helmet, however is just great. I really do like it and still have it. It's a little tight on the LEGO fig heads (though it does fit, the eyes on a standard head don't line up), so I also kept the KRE-O head. The KRE-O figure has a lot more articulation than a LEGO minifigure, but this leads to looseness and a strange look to everything. The arms and legs are on ball/socket joints, and the hips are a single elongated stud which means the figure can turn at the waist. Here's a photo of the helmet+head on a LEGO minifigure body. Here's a photo of the rest of the body with a LEGO head.

Well I think this is the right thread to post this, I'm just lucky someone bumped it so I could see it. I've been going through sorting a big bulk lot I got on eBay. There is not much MB in it, but there appears to be nearly one complete MB set - something from Iron Man line. I feel bad because some of the parts are so pretty that I want to keep them. They are dark red with a very fine dark red glitter inside I have put them all in the "crap to throw out box" as I'm still sorting, but part of me really does want to keep a few of the small dark red glitter plates and modified plates. These small parts are very good quality, surprisingly. All the larger parts, though the same color, seem pretty crappy as usual (horrible clutching powers, waxy look/feel). One other thing, seems to be from the same set, is a toolbox and a power drill. I dunno, the drill seems TOO detailed and definitely too big for a minifig, but I think would look great in the hand of a Technic figure. The toolbox is really neat though, similar to LEGO treasure chest with some details molded into the inside-bottom. I'm so ashamed and confused.

Thanks! He is ready to go on a date (he thinks Harry Potter is a girl due to that fluffy hair). Thanks. These are my first try/prototypes. The material I am using is not available in many colors - bright orange, red, tan, bright blue. There is no black and the orange is the easiest color to get. After a few experiments I only found one way to color them black and that's what I did on the two hair pieces. I used tan for the hood and was hoping it would match better but it doesn't, so I will have to "paint" that one somehow too, but the material I used for the paint is only available in black, red, and white. I'm still experimenting with recoloring these things. Nope it's way smaller then a minifig helmet. It would fit on a 1x1 round brick but that's about it. I'm not sure why they made it so big unless they were just trying to go for the cartoonish look.

The red ones comparing minifigure, microfigure, and two 1x1 round bricks. The yellow ones laying down comparing the width of a microfig head to a 1x1 round brick. The microfig is exactly the height of two bricks, but the head is quite smaller then the 1x1 round brick in circumference.

I like everything about this. I think I can hear the chimp causing trouble

Great model. The biggest Pokemon fans in my house gave it a "H*** Yeah!" and a "Do Want" I like Chimchar and Charmander myself.

I've been doing some work on making headgear for microfigs as I feel that is something that is really lacking in the line. Heroica Fortaan came with a helmet which is very cute but IMHO a bit too large. I have the offical headgear in the images for reference. I'm creating these with a soft silicon material, not clay. The great thing about this material is that it does not require any baking or boiling and won't chip or snap off. It is soft like the Crazy Scientist hair (CMF). I am working on my modeling skills for these and also microsizing of standard minifig headgear, which is more difficult than I originally thought it would be for my adult fingers. For these first two image, I'm sorry about quality and I promise to update them with better photos ASAP. My favorite so far is the hood, but what do you guys think? I'll keep this first post updated with new items as I get them done.

I really like this simple outpost. The roof looks great, rocks look great. The use of different shades of gray (intended or just because you had to) looks wonderful. It would be nice to have some brighter images, but the lighting seems even so you may be able to adjust the exposure of each image using Photoshop.com or Picnik (on Flickr).

Welcome to EB! Don't let all the rules disaude you, they are here to keep the site clean and make it a good reference, unlike some Other LEGO forums around the net which are full of rambling children. Once you learn your way around and get use to the way things work, you will see it is the best forum around and almost everyone is very friendly and helpful. I spent quite a while myself just reading before I started posting much at all, and I'm glad I did.

If I did it wasn't on purpose. I investigated you the first night but didn't contact because I didn't know if I should or what to say.
