Hi When I visited the park in May the selection was reasonably good. It was missing Cafe Corner but it the Hobby Train set appeared while I was there and there were some factory sets like the amusement park. The marquee tent didn't have the best selection in the world but the main store had a better selection than the store at the Billund Park which I visited in June. If you like ice cubes this is the place to go!!!! The attractions are fairly similar to the other Legoland parks. If the weather is nice check out the new pirates area as there is a fantastic interactive ride which allows guests to fire water cannons from their pirate ships at the public bold enough to fire at them with cannons of their own and also at other pirate ships as they pass each other. My son had a ball on that ride and we got soaked. Even the people in the queue aren't safe. A superb ride. The Technic test track is always a popular ride (I thought the Billund version was slightly better as it didn't seem to brake as often) and there is a Bionicle ride that is effectively a robotic arm that you can program with various moves (to turn you upside down etc.). Its indoors which is a bonus if its wet. In general Legoland rides are tamer than for other amusement parks but this might be because the target age group is lower. I enjoyed this park a lot and overall rated it better than Billund due in part because it was far less crowded although the Billund park has a Legoredo western town area which the Gunzburg park does not. Its certainly a lot cheaper than in Denmark and the thing to do in advance might be to check out LS@H prices for Germany before you go to identify which sets might be good value in Germany. For example Star Wars sets were good value compared to Irish prices although some sets e.g. 6211 and technic are much cheaper here than in Legoland. If you are planning to spend a lot consider getting at least one annual pass among your group as this gives you a 10% discount in the shops and restaurants and it cost almost the same as a 2 day ticket. I think someone already mentioned in another post that a child annual pass might be all you need.

Folks, I'm not sure if this has been noticed before so my humble apologies if it has but there seems to be a huge price differential between countries for the Complete Castle Collection on LS@H even within the eurozone. Example Complete Castle Collection K7029 (7 sets) Austria

I finally fell for it - I resisted as long as I could but I got the Eiffel Tower. I bet there won't be too many of them in Ireland as it won't be everyone's cup of tea. I also strayed into the castle line and have purchased the complete castle collection for

And don't forget these sets. Not WWII and not exactly swooshable but decent (in my humble view) looking sets David http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=10024-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=3451-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=10124-1

Who thinks we need a new Tour de France range?
Dfenz replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in LEGO Town
If I were Lego I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial 10 foot bargepole. There has been a lot of scandal surrounding the Tour de France in recent years and there are 'behind the scenes' books out there that have cast the tour in a not too pleasant light vis-a-vis dope tests (and I'm not talking IQ here). Any marketing that relies on the 'Tour de France' name could be affected quite easily by any adverse publicity that could erupt at any stage. The relatively short duration of the tour and limited scope for sets would also be factors against this development in my view. David -
Ha, I knew someone would find an Irish lassy somewhere in the Irish colours. Mind you they look a bit cold in the outfits and the one on the right looks like she hasn't seen any sunshine since the 1990s. The typical Irish milk bottle. I'd be asking for a stewards enquiry if any more Portuguese votes come in - maybe they all had to go to bed early and needed to get their votes in first. *sweet* David

Ah The Ice cube supporters are rallying. I'll confess to buying two of the things in Munich earlier this year! Nice yellow colours - the cubes are melting in my Baileys quite nicely. David

While in Munich earlier this year (May 2007) I bought two boxes of Lego in the Lego Shop (Reim Arcaden). The boxes contained around 500 pieces and it was not possible to see the contents without opening the box. Fortunately the assistant had opened a box and it contained many interesting parts including base plates. I'd like to inventory the contents as both boxes contained identical and what seem to me to be unusual parts. Unfortunately to save space in my suitcase I jettisoned the boxes at the last minute (I know I should have flat-packed them). Before I can inventory the sets I need the set/box numbers. If anyone bought one of these boxes and has the reference number I'd be grateful for the info. To jog people's memories this was the box that contained the tail piece of the T16 skyhopper set and it had two green, one tan and one white baseplate. thanks David

Many of the new 2007 sets are now available from LS@H Europe. These include Star Wars sets 7660 and 7661 and the new Batman (7786 and 7787) and Creator sets. I noticed a large variation in euro prices on the Star wars sets with the 7660 costing Euro 49.99 in Ireland v Euro 34.99 in Germany!!

I agree. I've all the HP sets and the best thing about the series of sets was the way they combined together to produce a huge Hogworths. Sure there was repetition such as the three versions of the Hogworths express and the 2 Hagrid Huts but the sets that could be combined to form a large school were more than adequate for the purpose. The Goblet of Fire series stand alone sets weren't too bad, especially graveyard duel, but I'd have personally preferred to see more classrooms. Its inevitable when collecting an entire series that you end up with a dozen copies of the main character and that certainly happened in the HP series. However, there was a very large cast of characters to choose from the books and most of the key people have been 'Lego'ized' at some point. I've got the latest set 5378 and it it bears all the hallmarks of a 'milk the franchise' set. I think it looks fairly bland although it will combine nicely with the other two castles and the classrooms. When I've built it I'll be able to add some more constructive thoughts. I would have liked to have seen a Ministry of Magic building together with the requisite phone box from OOTP. However, I can understand that when you are on book 7 and film 5 original source material (i.e. locations, characters or vehicles) becomes a little thinner on the ground. The other point is that the HP material has being getting much darker as the books have progressed and perhaps the theme may not be sitting as comfortably within Lego's target market as it was when the series started. Just my tuppence worth. David

The latest LS@H delivery arrived today with Market Street 10190, Hogworths Harry Potter castle 5378 and the Bridge Chase. I also picked up a 9v train motor to motorize the hobby train kit. The Ferrari racer set half price on the sales and deals page today has the card trying to jump out of my wallet again but the force is strong. I must learn to resist LS@H I must learn to resist LS@H I must learn to resist LS@H .... David

And all of the feedback to date has been from sellers! This looks like the guys first sale unless there is additional feedback pending. I wouldn't have touched this with the proverbial 10ft bargepole. David

What is the deal with shop.lego.com?
Dfenz replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I noticed most of the above. I believe the MTT was on the site for a short while to ascertain customer reaction. I believe it was mentioned in another post that there were only a limited number of these sets available initially and a few members here picked up sets. You can be sure I'll be checking the prices when it reappears (if only I could find the piece of paper I scribbled the info down on). Another unusual thing, pointed out in another thread was that the KKII castle, available at half price on the European version of LS@H in the Product Collections page never appeared at all in the Sales and Deals page!!! The other thing I've noticed is that the prices of new waves of Star Wars sets have increased shortly after launch. Most of the more expensive early 2007 sets were initially launched at prices lower than the current offering. Also Cafe Corner suffered the same fate (a -
While I haven't changed my mind since my earlier post that a Dr. Who theme would not work for Lego because of the lack of vehicles and gadgets and too many (expensive to produce) aliens/ monsters I'd point out that the show is quite popular in the US (albeit on the Sci FI channel ... which probably means it has 153 viewers - only joking!!!) Yeah, when I was doing the conversion I got lots of extra parts to make the shippng costs worthwhile. It took me an evening or two to narrow down the search to as few shops as possible that didn't have high minimum orders. Unfortunately my timing was a little off because I came across the transparent pieces in PAB in Germany only after I had ordered them through Bricklink and they weren't cheap. There are really only a handful of the pieces that are relatively expensive - its simply the hassle of trying to find as few stores as possible in which to place the order. If I recollect correctly I did it in 6 also and that was before I narrowed down the list to take account of bricks not required by each carriage. I think $45 plus S@H on top of the cost of your 3 10025 sets still represents good value considering the alternative. Enjoy David

Welcome to EuroBricks You're a long way from Fowl Manor. I passed by it this morning and no-one was home!!! David

Just returned from a weekend in Billund and picked up the new 7662 and 7660 Star Wars sets at Legoland. Just missed the 7661 set which someone else had in their hand going up to the checkout. For a shop so close to the factory it was very disappointing that there did not appear to be any restocking of shelves over the weekend. I got the sets late on Friday night, the remaining sets disappeared early on Saturday and there wasn't a single Star Wars set in the store on Sunday morning. There was a reasonable selection of new city sets available on Friday but these were almost all gone this morning. In addition to the Star Wars purchases I filled one of those large containers of bricks in the Brick shop. Didn't go mad this weekend - Danish prices don't encourage it. David

Not sure if this helps but I discovered that the bridge section of the City construction low loader (Set 7900) is wide enough to take my 9v trains and I've used this to span larger distances, i.e. between tables. I had to raise the piece that connects the two sides together to allow sufficient clearance for the trains. You'd still need to find leg supports for it if you are raising it above ground level to suit the Cafe Corner environment. regards David

Its up on the European version of LS@H today (2 June 2007). Its
