LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Wow those 2 new sets are something else. Peridia set has great minifigs, but the set itself is just plain. Everyone complained about Obi-Wan Vs Vader duel set from 2022 which was also just buildable grey baseplate, but everyone is fine with Peridia build? Yes I get it has more details but same concept. And 55$ for this one , I'll wait for sale on this one. Desert Skiff is another weird set of me. Skiff looks too small compared to 2012/2017 versions and most of the pieces went into Sarllac pit for some reason. I though Skiff was supposed to go with Jabbas barge UCS set, but it's too small to fit what I imagine Sail Barge will be. And who even asked for fiat Sarllac pit? I think 2017 version was fine forehat it was, why did Lego fell the need to make giant Sarlac and small Skiff is beyond me. The figs are good, except Boba needs his cape which his past versions had and why now Weequay guards? Also 80$ for less than 600 pieces?! What is Lego thinking with these prices? -

Fair enough for Tonys face. But to me it lacks Tony's personality in its expressions. That's why I like 2012-2017 face better since it translated his personality better especially with that confident smirk. -

New buildable C-3P0 is surprisingly looking great! Honestly I was expecting monstrosity on the level of last year's Chewie, but I'm happy I was wrong, iamd the price is really good. But the main problem with the sets as minifg collector is we only get same C-3P0 as before. This set was perfect for anniversary fig instead of droid builder set. And as much as I like this C-3P0 buildable figs aren't my cup of tea, so I will pass on it. And considering how many good 100$+ sets we are getting this summer unfortunately C-3P0 isn't worth picking up for me. Also for anniversary minifigs so far we got Fives, Darth Malak, Saw Gerera, young Leia, Cal Kestis and R2-KT. Is it just me or some of them stand out as figs we could have gotten in other sets or not needed at all? Fives as great as his fig is could have been put in Clone Wars set(probably without arm prints). Cal could have been included in that big BD-1 set from a few year ago or even better a set based in Jedi Fallen Order/ Survivor. Young Leia wasn't even requested by fans so I don't know why Lego bother to make her. And R2-KT could have easily been included in droid builder set along with R2, Chopper and imperial astromech to fit with buildable versions. Saw Gerera and Darth Malak are the type of characters that perfectly fit idea of bonus anniversary fig that Lego wouldn't have made otherwise. Maybe more obscure but popular characters like Darth Plagueis, Darth Bane even Boss Nass could have been a better fit for bonus figs. -

Yeah, I've seen that face before, but Lego don't seem like they will be reusing it in summer sets. Rather keep it exclusive to those Spidey sets, plus it's a bit more cartoons than regular Marvels line faces. -

After taking another look an summer sets I've realized how lazy and cheap Lego are with reusing faces. I mean Iron Man still uses the same face from IW sets in 2018! How crazy is that? That face wasn't even liked back then and it's been overused since then and new Tony face is desperately needed. And then there fat Thors head from Endgame being used on younger versions of the character like Avengers and AoU and Ragnarok. Like this face doesn't even fit the character in those movies! He has grey hair and goofy expression that doesn't really work for younger Thor. Why does Lego keep reusing these 2 heads so much when they don't work anymore? Like get they like saving money but it doesn't cost that much to design a new head (Tony) or bring back older design (Thor) that would work better for the character -

These characters you mentioned actually make sense to have rubber capes, especially Dr Strange. Rubber capes restrict hairpiece choices which can be seen on Thor. So I think as of now Lego is just trying it and wants to see the reaction these capes get -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Yeah it seems unlikely rubber capes are fully replacing cloth ones. Lego does try experimenting with this things once in a while and they usually fail and get disregarded soon after. Remember 2015 supejumpers piece? -

Diorama has 613 pieces which nowadays Lego would price at around 70$ without Hulk bigfig. Which is good price considering all the minifigs. Bigfigs historically added around 10$ to the price of the set. Hence 80$ for this set would be a fair price. Lego has been raising prices a lot since 2022 but his one seems a bit too much. Not as egregious as 2023 Captain Marvel set though. -

The picture is too blurry to tell for sure, but knowing Lego I’m confident it’s the old face. -

This new Marvel wave is one of the best LEGO out in years, but far from perfect. Positive: - Milano build is amazing, probably best non SW ship they made in ages! - Leviathan is finally made at appropriate scale and looks great - Iron Legion BP is awesome for the price point and minifigs - Surtur build is great and fairly accurate to the character in Ragnarok - New Iron Man MK 43 and iron legion drones, Hulk and Hawkey look great! Negatives: - All Guardians are still using same team suits from the final battle of the first movie! This is so disappointing considering we never got Gamora in her black suit before. And while the prints are generally good they seem worse than 2014 minifigures - Plastic cape for Thor is unnecessary. It limits the choice of hair for him as only original 2012 hairpiece fits with new rubber cape. Early Ragnarok Thor needs Qui-Gon hair from Love and Thunder sets for accuracy. Plastic cape works for Dr Strange but doesn’t for Thor. Hope Lego abandoned plastic capes as cloth ones offer more options for hairpieces and just look better. - Standard issue with reused faces. We had the same Tony Stark face since 2018 and it’s gotten old. We need new face for Superheroes line. Spider-Man 4+ sets got new Tony face before standard superhero line did. And same generic face for Hawkeye. They made pretty accurate Jeremy Renner face in 2015 why not reuse that face print? Penny pinching as usual. - Also why is fat Thors face is reused again on younger Thor? It doesn’t work on his younger version and is lazy reuse on Legos part to save a few pennies. They could just reuse old 2017-2021 Thor face instead as it was great piece. - Also new Ragnarok Thor is way worse than 2017 version which had leg prints and arm prints! Why in 2024 we get worse minifigs than in 2017? - Cap still doesn’t have leg prints or dual molded legs. It’s such an easy fix for Lego, but they stubbornly refuse to improve this character. - Some prices are ridiculous, especially Avengers diorama for 100$! I get big fig tax is a thing but at most it should be 80$! -

New Maul leaked, and the eyes with no pupils look cursed! Why did Lego stopped giving Sith pupils when they clearly have them in-universe? Last version of Maul looked awesome with normal eyes, but this one's face is wrong. The torso prints are good, but eyes ruin this otherwise great figure. -

Wow, new Ronan is huge downgrade from 2014 version. How's it possible that we have worse minifigure 10 years later? Why not bring back his hood/armour combo mold? Lego is so cheap these days with minifig quality... -

Wow new Avengers tower is amazing build wise! Almost 1 meter high, looks like it’s nicely detailed, but I expected more floor tbh. As for the minifigures I have to agree Vison is such a standout here! Amazing cape print ( and I thought 2016/2018 version was great) and Trans clear legs to give shifting effect? This Vision alone might be a good reason to but the Tower. Hulk is great, and apparently has new mold since it looks like his head can move. As for the rest of minifigures, they are mixed bag. I expected them to reuse Avengers 1 cast from Quinjet and it’s fine. Although it still bugs me they use fat Thors face for younger Thor since it doesn’t fit this version of him! But new Hawkeye get such a generic face print here, he looks nothing like Jeremy Renner, I mean even 2015 Hawkeye had more accurate face than this new one! New battle damaged Mk6 is a welcome addition, reuses of Fury and Pepper are expected. New dr Selvig and Pierce are good. Helen Cho and Kevin Feige are great additional figures. Scarlet Witch is not AoU based for some reason? Why would they cheap out and put inaccurate figure of her in this set? Also Tony Stark could have used new face print as 2018 one is getting old and tired( it also feels expressionless). Also why no Quicksilver? He was important part of AoU, and only ever appeared in 1 set! For some reason Wong and Wasp who never were in Avengers tower in the movies are here for some reason! And finally why we don’t get AoU version of Avengers in addition to part 1 versions here since the set is mostly based on that movie? We already have that versions of Cap and BW on the market, why not add Thor, Iron Man and Hawkeye as well? Overall minifigs are a mixed bag, not great but decent. But it’s 500$+ set why can’t Lego be bothered to put more effort in Ucs set? -

While the new sequel diorama set looks nice, it’s very random. Lego haven’t made sequel sets since 2021(which is fine, since majority of SW fans hate ST) but decided to make random and non canon diorama? -

Why is Lego all of a sudden so obsessed with venomized characters? Like it doesn't make sense for Green Goblin to be venomized, but if Lego wanted to do something like this Norman Osborn became Red Goblin after merging with Carnage symbiote. Why not make something like this? -

New Gunship is a mixed bag for me, it's cool to get a Gunship, but it's way too small and out of proportion. Minifigs are mixed as well, cool Chancellor Palpatine, and inaccurate Fox. Shock troopers would be great if not for the stupid helmet holes. Packed is strange inclusion here, face isn't Natalie Portman face , but rather generic one. Why could Lego designer be bother to reprint 2013 gunships accurate Padme face print here? -

Now that official pictures are out I can confidently say Series 2 is way worse than series 1! Many poor decisions were made like Clint’s hair color, Echo(worst mcu character since Phase 4 started, and that’s saying something) and werewolf by night. But the worst change is boxes instead of blind bags! How can we find out what character is inside now? If there’s no barcode trick like in 2010 Cmfs are basically done… -

New pics of Clint and Kate show them much better details. Honestly other than new bow piece Clint is pretty inaccurate. First of all why does he have tan hair instead of accurate dark brown? How did Lego get his hair color wrong? Jeremy Renner Hawkeye always had dark brown hair in Mcu and Lego portrayed that accurately in the past, but screw it up somehow after 10 years!!! Also he has no leg prints. Why does Cmf figure come with no leg prints? Sure he has plain black pants, but print at least some details! Kate looks good, although face isn’t spot on Hailee Steinfelds likeness, still looks good. Also it seems both of them have old quiver piece. Was kinda hoping Lego would finally make modern style quiver instead of medieval one they’ve been using forever. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

That's why it's unpopular opinion I guess🤷♂️ As far as Stormtroopers go, I disagree. 2014-2017 was peak Stormtrooper design imho. Leg prints make them look great. New "family guy" helmet is the problem with current 2019-2023 design though, not leg prints. Captain America is just a simple example here. Just compare say Marvel Cmf Captain Carter(I'll use her as stand-in as they are similar characters) figure to Hydra stomper Captain Carter figure. Or zombie Captain America Vs Endgame Cap from 2021 set. Lack of leg prints makes latter way worse than former. Ok how do we decide what qualifies detailed costume though? Using Mcu as example here all character have detailed suits. Yet only Iron Man and Spiderman seem to consistently get leg prints. Even though Caps or Thors suits are very detailed too. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
benderisgreat replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ok, I misspoke let me rephrase it. It's ok for say City minifigs to have no leg prints as they are meant to be just random citizens. But every licensed set should have leg printing as those usually have iconic character who have highly detailed costumes like Marvel, SW or Jurrasic themes. Look no further onthis than Captain America who looks very bland without leg print. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
benderisgreat replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lego has gone insane with the recent price increases while also not adding more value to the sets. Recent The Marvels set shows they are either insane or just don't care at all about reasonable price for the value of the product. It's really a big "F you" from Lego to not give every minifig a leg printing in 2023. It costs them almost nothing to print legs , but they are penny pinching when it comes to this, especially in Marvel theme. If someone asked me say 10 years ago if something like leg print on all minifigs will become the norm, I would have said yes, but Lego managed to screw us still. Lego does way too much overpriced 18+ "adult" sets(like Black Panther bust) that have limited appeal. All licensed Cmf should have 16 characters at least, original Cmf are fine with current 12 figs. 12 is just not enough for licensed themes Also the decision to make Cmf in boxes now is utterly ridiculous and money hungry move by Lego. All this corporate talk about 'eco friendly" packaging for Cmf is just poor man's excuse to remove last opportunity for us to find minifigs we actually want and make us spend more on cmf! They should really reconsider this stupid decision cause the reaction from everyone is very negative on boxed Cmf... -

Yep, comparing Marvels set to Ashoka shuttle is just not fair. Shuttle has 4 highly detailed minifigs, great build and costs less with more pieces! Lego is definitely treating Marvel line recently as the least favorite child. -

Ashoka show sets are just amazing! Shuttle looks great and has great mini figures too. Never thought we’d get Huyang as minifig after his CW appearance, but here we are. Ashoka herself looks brilliant with printed arms and new lekku, transclear blades work well for her lightsabers. Sabine looks a bit boring though, but still good. Inquisitor is amazing definitely looks like he’s been through some stuff with rusted armor. E-wing set is great as well, but for minifigs only. While ships here look good, I never cared for E-wing itself or Shins fighter. Shin and Baylon are big draw of the set, and look like worthy pickup. Buildable Chewie is a stuff of nightmares though and someone should call exorcist on it!
