  1. Looking forward to the Cars sets. I like these a lot and have collected many of them so far. I'm going to guess, though, that the single car ones aren't large scale, but individual ones for $6.99. Probably related to the scene near the end where Red uses his water gun to fend off the henchcars. You might want to take a look at toy sales before making such a baseless assumption. Cars is one of the most lucrative and successful movie-based toy franchises. It is probably ensingle most successful movie-based franchise launched since Harry Potter. It is the highest grossing Disney franchise, and it's sales have not only topped into the billions for the past five years, but they have increased every single year since the original film came out.
  2. Target clearances are determined on a store-by-store basis. It's essentially computerized, and based on sales at a particular store and a ratio of sales to stock in hand. So, essentially, this means that at the particular Target you went to, this set was low in sales and high in stock. I saw not a single Target with set marked down, but did go tomone with Ultimate Build Francessco marked to the same price.
  3. Absolutely not. It will be widely available through around October/November.
  4. Awesome! Thanks! But do you happen to have a bigger copy of this image?
  5. Absolutely not. It will be a late release in the United States and available this summer. I believe in the U.S. it will be a Wal*Mart exclusive.
  6. A successor to Paradisa is being introduced in 2011, but it will not be gender-neutral. It will have pink.
  7. I took advantage of the sales. Here's what I bought myself, all at 50% off! Online: 5636 - Duplo Bus 7486 - Pig Farm & Tractor 8403 - City House 8258 - Crane Truck LEGO Store in Miami: 7206 - Fire Helicopter 8052 - Container Truck 8214 - Lamborghini Polizia 8402 - Sports Car LEGO Store in Los Angeles: 7636 - Combine Harvester 7747 - Wind Turbine Transport I think the Miami store knocked down a bunch of Technic and Racers sets that were not supposed to be marked down. They were not marked down in LA or online.
  8. Off topic, but the G-Wagen is certainly not being discontinued and is slated to be in production through at least 2015, and likely past that. Back on topic, the Unimog looks amazing and I hope that the Mercedes-Benz license is used further in the future.
  9. No, my estimation is dead accurate, because I count metropolitan area, as it should. 50 miles round-trip is nothing in America. That's 30 minutes each way, if even. If driving 30 minutes to the mall isn't worth the savings, well, then I just find such an assertion hysterical. To each his own.
  10. I'm looking forward to the Unimog model. Before everybody gets carried away with the license thing, please remember, character licenses are expensive. Product licenses are cheap. There won't be much of a "license mark-up," if any, for the Unimog, just like a generic Matchbox or a Matchbox Unimog cost the same $1. The Lamborghini license models, for example, have been some of the best values in the LEGO line-up recently, The current Gallardo Polizia if $60 for 800+ pieces!
  11. It depends on the store. I was at the LEGO store in Miami Sunday morning. Not only did they have most of what was on sale on Shop at Home (except Taj Mahal, Green Grocer and the Carousel), they had even more. I picked up the Lamborgini Polizia and Technic Container truck for 50% off, and they are both full price online. A tiny fraction? New York, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Dallas, D.C. and Houston all have a LEGO store or two or three. Those cities account for about 25% of the country's population, and there are still another two dozen plus LEGO stores outside of them.
  12. I am loving the harbor theme! They all look great! There is also one more set - 4643 - not pictured. It's a powerboat transporter.
  13. When LEGO stores re-open tomorrow, pretty good chance that they will be price matching. So for the rare LEGO store that still has a Taj Mahal or Green Grocer, you'll probably find a bargain.
  14. Slightly off topic, but there will also be LEGO bricks (in addition to Duplo) sets released around the same time based on "Cars 2."
  15. Winter toy shop is in stock right now at Amazon. Just ordered one.
  16. This is by far my favorite LEGO set ever. Great review. I'm fortunate enough to have two of these. One I bought off eBay about ten years ago and built; another one I bought last summer that remains sealed in its box 22 years later.
  17. Deal with it people. Things are cheaper in the United States - there are low taxes, low import duties, insanely cheap distribution channels and a huge economics of scale advantage. Do you really think that it is only LEGO? Compare prices for, say, a Mercedes-Benz between the U.S. and Europe. In the United States, a Mercedes-Benz E350 coupe starts at $48,050 (€35,312). In Germany, the same, which is built in Germany, cost €51,408 ($69,950). Face the reality of economics and move on.
  18. Toys R Us has an unadvertised sale of Farm 7637. 40% off. Started yesterday, ends today. $53.99.
  19. Bought it yesterday at the LEGO store in Disneyland. Great little set.
  20. Picked up 10185 Green Grocer yesterday at the LEGO Store in LA; the store also had a bunch of the Volume I of the Vintage Minifig collections for only $9, so I grabbed that too.
  21. I went to the LEGO store in Los Angeles yesterday and treated myself to a Green Grocer. Too many threads about it being discontinued! LOL. I still think it will last through the early Christmas season, but I need to make sure I have the complete line of modular buildings, I love them! Green Grocer is awesome, of course. Looks great next to my Cafe Corner!
  22. Large sets like Green Grocer sell propoitionally better during the holidays, between October-December. The key to these sets is to sell them for three holiday selling seasons. That is what was done with Cafe Corner, and that is what will be done with Green Grocer. It still has the rest of 2010 left, but expect it to dissapear right before Christmas. Even if LEGO has ended production, they likely have significant stock to keep it through the year's end. These sets sell very slowly outside of the holidays.
  23. "Hard to Find" means that it is available at select stores in addition to the LEGO store. It has no bearing on availability. In the United States, Green Grocer is sold at Toys "R" Us in addition to directly from LEGO.

To note, sans the 3221, these are not summer sets. They should be showing up in stores shortly and are already on LEGO.com's "City" web page.

Children like trucks. Children love trains. I'm not convinced the truck stop won. If the set is $160, then I bet it includes rails and a battery pack. A $160 truck stop? Seriously? I don't buy it (though, I will of course, buy the set).
