  1. That doesn't look comfy
  2. My guess is that those two will correspond with their 3D release, like the 90 dollar podracers. TLG wants to make the 3D mega-set a memorable one. The pods are some of the finest models TLG has ever produced IMO. I hope to see a similar trend in the future. The ISD will likely come with the ANH release, and the Venator with ROTS.
  3. I believe it. I like to drink coffee when assembling sets, or sometimes a little cappuccino.
  4. Ok, here's what I've come up with. After reading over some comment threads I noticed a couple things. Vaguetopics, the designer doesn't point out the adaptations that he made to model that he likes personally. If the designer hasn't stated his intentions with the model, then how can roll their eyes at criticism? By stating your intentions within the topic everything should be fine. Another thing is the administration of criticism. I'll admit I may have been somewhat brash when giving out mine. Remember that everybody has the things that they like to see in MOCs. Some might seek dimensional/detail perfection, and state that they like the model better if it were that way. Some might just say that they'd like a different color scheme. If you're the designer then it's always up to you. But things would go a lot smoother if you didn't make a sassy comment back because you don't like that they don't like your model. And lastly, little clarity when posting. It's the internet, you can't portray tone, or mood. Using emoticons to the best of our ability could help. Also if your not sure what they meant, ask for clarification before jumping to conclusions.
  5. Nitpicking is when your just looking for flaws within a model so that you can write that there is a flaw. Constructive criticism is when your giving advice for the MOCer to improve their design. If nobody criticizes a bad model, then all comments would be pointless. You don't really know peoples opinions. For example, if Mr. Man posted his X-wing in all seriousness, and somebody say "AWESOME Work!!!", then how can the administer of that comment leave something meaningful on a good X-wing?
  6. I'm also experimenting with 3L bars with minifig hands to represent the fins, that might work too.
  7. Nice, I like the funkyness of the dragons.
  8. Mine was going for 100% physical accuracy, not most aesthetically pleasing. So while mine may have been more proportionate/accurate scale, KDMs is more of an eye-candy piece. That's just how I see it. KDMs is more attractive. Now stop talking about mine!
  9. You were being respectful, and logical over the course of the debate. We were talking about members specifying how much criticism they want. I was actually saying the my intent was to reach perfection in detail, and proportions. While KDMs was going for being for aesthetically pleasing. We all have differences as to what's 'perfect' to us. There's no definition of overall perfection. I'll say mine might be more accurate in things, like dimensions(IMO of course). However, KDMs is more pleasing to the eye, it looks so crisp and attractive. While my Bley approach is sort of a bore. Is it more accurate? IMO yes. Does it look better? Most agree-it doesn't. My comments were to show that we both had a unique approach to the build, which we both saw as more pleasing to us. Nope, no intentions of a 'gang fight' breaking out. Sorry, but I can't stop laughing at the idea of gangs, on a lego forum
  10. What do you mean? Why does everybody think that post is gang war related. If it is a gang war then...uhmm....FAIL! Yes we are having brawls on lego stores, and vandalizing miniland style lego amusement parks
  11. Actually, the creator failed to state their intent. When I attempted to summarize their intent, they got mad at me...
  12. A gang war? On a lego forum? Nope, I'm just saying that we all have our personal opinion, and all the discussion here is about how we like to do our MOCs compared to how the other person likes to do their MOCs. How is it pessimistic to recognize when you think somethings bringing out the worst in us? It's like arguing about taste buds, and who has the better ones. They're all individual and react to certain things differently. You're awesome sok117!
  13. This topic will go nowhere-nobody will change their views, no matter what. It's already a "He said!" and "You said this" type of deal. Nobody will change their point of view. As I said earlier this is a Lego Star Wars Lego Forum, so when you expose your creation you are welcoming infinite people to comment on it, they'll express their opinion. Then you can thank them, and say either you'll take them into account, or that your not too concerned. Nobody tells people they have to adapt their MOC, they are just stating what they personally think would improve the model. Be mature enough to except that. I won't be replying here again, unless to defend a members name. Brickartist out, peace.
  14. My thoughts exactly, it's called patronizing. Yeah, some people don't say anything there, but the vibe that you get is: "If you don't like MOC then don't comment and go away". If you the way you feel, don't just implicate it. Regardless, people should accept that they will get at least one criticism, weather they like it or not. When you upload something that people reply to, you can't control their opinions. If you're gonna put it out there, then you have to accept this.
  15. As much as you like.
  16. Ohhhh put me down for some SW. Revenge of the Sith if you have them! Thanks JimB, this is so considerate of you.
  17. I hope they spare your soul
  18. Ouuch my eyes! No matter what the staff says, in my mind the site got hacked....yeah we'll go with that...
  19. Anybody who's criticizing my criticism, read the comments. I said I appreciated KDMs approach, I didn't say anything else. I understand we all approach models differently. I also asked him if he did want criticism, which he said he was okay with. Weather it's my Minifig Scale version, or my UCS, version, both are not comparable to KDMs. We used different refferences, and made different styles of attempts. KDM isn't quite going for 100% accuracy, as I was. He also appears not to want to evolve his model to a point of perfection, as I did. We both took our own unique approach. BTW KDM, do you want a couple of easy points to make your model better? I have a couple in mind I said that to stop people from comparing our models, which they did As KDM said, not many people out there are going to evolve their model to the point of 100% accuracy, and I stated here, our models aren't to be compared. I did ask if KDM wanted advice before I gave it. Stop using this thread to compare our models! If you want to start a "Which BARC do you like better" thread, then do so. It's KDMs, not mine
  20. He didn't say anything about KDMs BARC specifically, actually. I think this whole discussion was maturely handled.
  21. I can't tell if that's sarcasm, or not. Fallens point just stated that a MOC isn't really SW looking if it's supposed to be a BARC, yet looks like a freeco.
  22. Sorry KDM, didn't mean those remarks that way. From what I've seen in your other models, I think that you go for a more aesthetically pleasing approach. For example, the references pictures you link show clearly the BARC being grey, yet you use white because it looks better as a piece of eye-candy to the viewer. I think your model looks nicer, and more appealing to the viewer than any of mine. I always thought, seeing your style of C&C you were more of that type of MOCer, I meant no offense in contrasting out approaches to MOCing. My intentions were to stop comparisons of our models, which is not what I wanted to happen. Onto the model, here’s what I think needs work: Right now you have Z-74 handlebars on there, which aren’t accurate. They deliver the wrong shape and Minifig hand angle. The handlebars stem from the area, brick building the sloping nose portion would render better results, and then you could leave a plate gap to attach the new handlebars onto. The front-Right now you have those extra bulky 2x4 inverting pieces there. Using the white piece that you have on the underside on the back of your model(Which if removed will make the back more accurate, we’ll get to that later) And stick on the front it would slim down that portion. Then place a modified 1x1 brick with studs on 2 sides there to put jumper plates on for the thickening front portion. Your repulsors are massive; compare the ones on the Salucami reference pic to a clones torso. Then hold the ski piece next to a lego minifigs torso –you’ll see what I mean. The Back- The use of the two 1x4 sloping white pieces side by side looks abnormally blocky, try putting 1 on there and using a modified 1x1 with studs on two sides to attach the correctly shaped plates on and capture the rounded back portion. This solution will also render a smoother transition to the 1x2 45 Grey brick, which is transitioned to abruptly. The back is incredibly too wide, 8 studs? I think 6 is pushing it. Try replacing that ski piece with a 1x2 tile, and reducing the Repulsor size. I have more too, but I’ll keep it at this for now.
