I know the TFA Star Wars sets are slated for a September release (according to other threads), but why couldn't these Constraction sets be released in August along with the second phase of G2 Bionicles? It would certainly take the sting out of waiting so long for the other sets, and help spread the pain/payments.
-
I agree. If the range was limited to just droids and the like it would have limited appeal. Stormtroopers are at the top of my list, as is Darth Maul and Alec Guiness Obi Wan. Not sure how they would carry off a Chewbacca though. Oooh . . . how about Jar-Jar Binks??!! . . . KIDDING!

When you look at series like the Star Wars sets, many of the space craft get a make-over every few years. I would love to see a make-over of Brutaka. That was by far and away my favorite Bionicle Titan set of G1. And why not? I can see no good reason why some sets from G1 can't have a make-over for G2. There's been a lot of talk (just from the snippets I've seen) of bringing back the Bohrok, so why not a masterpiece Titan like Brutaka?

Absolutely! The short, squat Onua was a total disappointment (I've hidden him at the back of the shelf behind Lewa and Pohatu. This is a great figure. Definitely worthy of an XL remake. Very, Very Badass. I actually like the smaller foot in a build like this. If you look at powerfully built characters from other genres, like Warhammer/Space Marine or Starcraft, the foot is not in proportion to the rest of the leg (too vulnerable?). Just the toe poking out gives it an impression of weight and power, like an elephant or bear.

I love this model! This is exactly the sort of figure I was hoping for during G1. Hopefully, a forward thinking Lego designer is not too proud to make this kind of figure a reality in 2016/17. I'll be back some time (normally hanging round the SW threads) to look at this in more detail.

Sorry, but I'm a bit late to this thread. Has there been a release date given on the SW Battle Figures? I started a discussion about this sor of thing over in the SW thread, but a moderator movedit into a general 'future sets' discussion where it was quickly swallowed up. My thread was aimed at asking people what they wanted to see, specifically from future SW 'constraction' (new descriptor for me) sets. The main discussion then moved on to TFA sets, so if there was any news of the SW Battle Figure release dates it didn't appear over there.

HI Robianco. Good reasoning. I hadn't forgotten sales tax and had meant to add that as a line at the end, but forgot. I can remember doing the mental math during one visit to the US one year, and still bought a UCS set because of the huge saving. It may not be worth pinning our hopes on another UCS set this year as they don't release two SW UCS sets every year (only one in 2013 - Red Five, and one in 2011 - Execuor). Also, with the sets already released, the TFA sets to be released in September, six Battle Figures, plus who knows what else, it may be that TLG has released news for all the sets of this year. I, for one, will be happy to wait until early next year for another UCS . . . allow the bank account to recover a little.
-
This is a really nice set. I don't normally buy Battle Packs, but I'd very likely go for this one as an excellent complement to any Rebel minifig scale vehicle.
-
Hey, thanks Wookiee. That's a very useful tip. Hi Billy. I had that set at one time and was really impressed with the Dropship. Sadly I had to let it go to fund other projects.
-
Hey, I hope so.
-
I seem to recall from an interview either earlier in this thread or in another thread, that a Lego designer (for the Slave 1 UCS?) stated that TLG don't release more than 2 UCS models a year for any particular theme. SW has had two UCS modles this year. So, if there is a TFA based UCS model it is more likely to be released early next year, I would suspect.

I'm sorry to keep coming back to this, but "Reality Check!" people. If those dollar prices are correct then the UK and European prices are SHOCKING! Look at it this way, $150 = approx £100, so the $149.99 set should cost £99.99 in the UK So, in rounded figures: 75099 @ $20 should = £14 - but listed at £20, so £6 more expensive than in the US, or 43% 75100 @ $40 should = £28 - but listed at £40, so £12 more expensive, or 43% 75101 @ $70 should = £47 - but listed at £60, so £13 more expensive, or 28% 75102 @ $80 should = £54 - but listed at £70, so £16 more expensive, or 30% 75103 @ $90 should = £60 - but listed at £80, so £20 more expensive, or 33% 75104 @ $120 should = £80 - but listed at £100, so £20 more expensive, or 25% (best value??!!) 75105 @ $150 should = £100 - but listed at £130, so £30 more expensive, or 30% Sadly, it could actually be cheaper for our European cousins to drive over to the UK and buy their SW Lego at West Thurrock (Lakeside Shopping Centre), or Maidstone in Kent, if they wanted to buy bulk for friends. Sorry to be a pedant, but don't kid yourself that we are getting a fair deal on those prices. . . if these prices are correct! At these prices I'm sorry to say that I'll only be shopping at the Lego Store for Exclusive deals, as the likes of Argos, Tesco's, Asda, etc. will all do deals (3 for 2, and such like) which will bring the prices down to more equitable levels, eventually.
-
Would you mind confirming where you saw those prices, or better yet just relist them here. Ta.
-
Although I love McQuarrie concepts, I don't think I'm alone in hoping that the new "FOS" is markedly different given that it should be unrelated to any former Rebel vehicles. Yes, those prices are scary. Gotta wonder if Disney are pushing for a higher price point because it's a new SW film and it's approaching Christmas, and what weak willed parent will refuse the demands of their untamed, illdisciplined offspring to purchase every new set? . . . [speaking as a parent who has no trouble saying "No" if the little parasites don't deserve it!] After all, we're only talking about $670/£450 for the entire Winter release!

Just bought the Imperial Shuttle online from Tesco Direct, which is a bargain if you have any clubcard vouchers as they are doing the double-up deal on some SW Lego sets . . . including all of today's releases. So you can effectively get these at half price!
-
Sorry Ultron. I don't see anything remarklable about that image. The ship to the left of the Death Star is clearly an Imperial Shuttle. It just looks like an advert for the show, to me.

Exactly right, Fuppylodders. All lego. No glue or rubber bands (or sellotape). The underside and engines were not quite as detailed as I would have liked, due to lack of finances and a need to get it finished, but also, practically, it's not the sort of thing you can pick up and "zoom" around (not that I didn't try - successfully ) so underside detail seemed a little less important. Not bad for a first MOC (if you don't count my MF when I was 11). Yes, Lobot, I did sell it on eBay. To someone in Scotland, as I recall. I never did hear if they managed to build it okay. Since then a doctor in the US (friend of a close friend) has asked if I will build another one for her husband. I'm going to try and design it on LDD first . . . probably Lego Fett, I used some dark grey behind the greebling, to give it the impression of more depth, but other than that I wasn't sure where to place it so stayed with a light grey exterior. Again, this is something I will revisit on the 'next' one. Time constraints also prevented me from building a few, in scale, Star Destroyers. That will also be remedied next time. Not likely to happen until next year though, because of all the other MOC projects I have in the pipeline. Thanks everyone for your supportive comments.

As promised last week, here are a few shots of the SSD Executor I MOC'd back in 2011/12. I started with the 'Starship Battles' game model as my reference point and after creating the frame work, after a few months had an 80% completed model. However, something just didn't look right to me so I researched more thoroughly and after finding photographs of the origninal movie model, set about redesigning the back end (and all associated sub frame etc.) I had tried to get it ready (on request) for a Lego Space display at the Leicester Space Centre, in July of 2011, but was faced with too much work to be done and an increased workload at work, so the ship didn't get close to completion until early 2012. Sadly, funds were running low, and I was being pressured (by a somewhat unsupportive and unsympathetic spouse) to finish it and clear it away, so didn't spend as much time on engine detail as I would have liked to. Anyway, here are a few shots of the finished model. IMG_2672 by [/url] Length approx 7 foot / 2.15m Over 6000 bricks Weight approx 44lbs / 20kg as I recall.

That was at the "Smyths" store. I'm going to another one on Monday (if I can get there in time after work). I was tempted to get one, but I've already hammered my account enough this month (as I am about to elucidate). I still seem to be in the grip of a pre-mid life crisis, at the moment (. . . a pre-pre MLC, if I'm going to be vain about it) and my recent purchases include: All 12 Micro fighters All 12 Planet sets Calendars from 2011 to 2014 B-Wing 75050 Jedi Scout Fighter 75051 . . . to name a few. I also have three TIE Advanced Prototypes (two without the minifigs) for a MOC project.

Sadly, I tihnk you may be correct, although I've been arguing heavily to the contrary. But here is the evidence: Here is the image we are presented with as being the instruction book for the new villain's ship. Here is a poster that seems accuratley represent what we saw in the Trailer 2 clip. I've highlighted the most glaring differences between the two. Here is another poster that is very siilar to the first ship design - again highlighted. Note how the wing barely extends below the fuselage and how the inner profile of the upper wing section is 'clean'. Also the front of the ship appears to have a single bank of possible 'viewing ports' on a very slim, wedge-like nose. Now look again at how the Lego model looks and there is no similarity at all in these areas. So either this image has been doctored to throw people off, or this is an appalling reproduction by Lego with some clearly fundamental errors. I am at a loss to explain otherwise. The only real similarity comes in the shape of the upper wing and the twin cannon mounted at the hinge point - very reminiscent of the Imperial Shuttle. So again, I question whether this is a fighter craft instead of maybe a personal shuttle.

Lego pieces not sticking together right.
NNOPMOC replied to IronFish's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had siilar problems with my MOC build (Speeder Bike over in the Star Wars section) where stuff I knew worked - I was building an LDD construct from photos I took of an actual build three years ago - was not allowed by LDD. In some cases I had to re-engineer the build, but for other part assemblies I had to leave them 'floating', and rely on the builders experience to work out how to assemble the parts. -
Though I very quickly took to LDD and think it is an excellent building tool, I do have some serious reservations about the Building Guide mode and the automaticly generated parts list. The Building Guide mode is, on the whole, very good but at one stage in this model it assembled all the technic pins in mid air then several stages later started assembling the technic beams in a different location (i.e. not around the pins) . . . ! Now, an experienced builder would be able to compensate for this, but anyone younger or less patient would be stuck. The parts list was more of a worry though as firstly the nomenclature used by LDD is frequently not at all like that used by Bricklink and other parts descriptors, but more disturbing is the appearance and disappearance of random pieces in random quantities. I was in the process of buying some part last night to start creating some sets to sell, and I came across parts decriptions that I knew were not anywhere in the build (in any colour), and other parts descriptions that I did not initially recognise but due to the colour (and quantity) I knew could not exist in the build. So, fantastic, time saving tool that it is, I would recommend doing a 'hand count' (if you know what I mean) of all the parts generated in LDD, especially on larger sets, before you go blowing big bucks on rare parts that you don't actually use.

To be honest there is no clear candidate for this new ship. We have the fuselage from a ship that appears in a poster and is seen for about 1 second in the second movie trailer, which has wings that start at the fuselage and extend upwards (like the imperieal shuttle), then we have the "Red Barron" concept art - a TIE Bomber lookie-likie with wings that do match the new model in style (though using your wings as landing struts is a poor idea - what if they get damaged in a fire-fight?) but has a completely different fuselage which looks more like a B-29 bomber. We only have three months to wait to find out what it actually is. I'm sure there are plenty of other things we can be getting bunched up about in the mean time.
-
Hmmm . . . Given that this thread I was quoting hasn't had any adverse reaction so far, and the MOC is based on concept art, easily Googleable, I think I'm safe quoting another post, don't you?
-
I agree that there are a lot of similarities, but again, as rollermonkey points out; and one of my original points a few days ago; Also, when you look at the detaling inside the wing on the lego model it hints at a wider range of purpose, whereas the poster image clearly shows a simple wing structure reminiscent iof the Imperial Shuttle wing - no hint of variable geometry other than being hinged at the fuselage. Over in the Apokka AT-AT on Jakku thread are these images: I'm sure I've seen concept art for the little ship in the belly of the AT-AT a couple of times. Anyone have any idea if this is going to be a Winter release model, maybe one of the sets 75100 to 75102? It's one I certainly want to see.
