  1. My poster, received in the UK, is 28,171 of 35,520 but just says Limited Edition. I think you're right about that European total, Petit.
  2. I've not really been paying much attention to what's been going on with the Cars theme but these little characters look fantastic! The printed elements are a definite win. The pricing of this set seems very reasonable for a licensed theme (though I'm only guessing at what the pounds value is). I'll definately pick one of these up. Thanks for the review... I'm off to check out the other sets now...
  3. No fangled brick separator for me! I use bricks to separate plates, i.e. to separate 2 1x2 plates I'll attach 2 1x2 bricks to top and bottom, allowing me to grip them with my fingers and click them apart. If I have a small plate in the middle of a large plate, I'll use a folded piece of paper to slip under and lift it off. Simple but effective! I use 'Sticky Stuff Remover' for any problems I have with stickers and the residue they leave behind. It also works well clearing random smudges I've had on new minifigs on occasion.
  4. You don't necessarily need excessively complicated building techniques to make a model accurate. Just a good understanding of what you're building. It seems that some other models should inspire them too!
  5. Fantastic work so far Davor and Kost, it's great to see this progressing so nicely - only wish I could see the physical thing! If I may suggest: the tan structures all look very smooth and uniformly coloured. Don't you think they'd benefit from some weathering or inconsistencies in the surfaces? Alternate colouring, nicks and dents, etc?
  6. It's great to see the huge amount of effort people have put in. There's some truly awesome entries that'll make voting hard for sure. The very best of luck to everyone!
  7. DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA... BOOM! And that's you told. What fallen says is absoltutely right though. While LEGO try to achieve a balance between accuracy and playability, they don't just sell to children. There is an expectation within the AFOL community of what these sets could and should be and as such this is an open forum to discuss and critique new LEGO sets. As far as the accuracy of 7965 goes, I don't think the the position of the mandibles and cockpit would have any effect on playability and structural strength if they just positioned them correctly and worked around that template. To me it's just a little bit sloppy. I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker though, and for those who don't have it already it's looks like a great set to own. If one feels strongly enough about the inaccuracies there is always the option to mod it. That's the beauty of LEGO. It's something I personally have done to many of my sets. I own 4504 already, which while no 10179, is a superb set. I may forego buying 7965 and try and source some of those minifigs by other means insetad.
  8. I ordered the Battle for Geonosis and Cad Bane's Speeder early on the 4th but when my package arrived, no ARF, though I did get the poster. I called customer services and got through to a very sympathetic and helpful lady. It turned out that all the stock had gone that early in the morning of the 4th and I was really disappointed when she said they wouldn't be able to send me one... however, she said I could choose ANY figure from those currently available and they'd dispatch it to me. All things considered, that's actually pretty cool...! Just need to choose my minifigure now - will probably buy an ARF off Bricklink.
  9. Great entry sunnyx, lots of nice details and features. Amongst other things I especially like how those anti armour rockets deploy. Must have taken some time - and lots of fun - to figure out all those workings. Best of luck in the contest.
  10. Can someone add me to the lineup in the first post please? I'll be travelling down by car early on Thursday and staying 'til late.
  11. Thanks for sharing the review of 7964 with us. I own the Radiant VII so the immediate thing that sticks out for me are the similarities in construction... but I do like this weaponised version. The interiors are better than it's predecessor (which I modded) and I absolutely love that little 'hologram' 1x1 round brick, such a nice little touch! I wish I had one of them for my Arquitens MOC! The minifig selection is very good, Eeth Koth is a big win for me as is Wolffe and co. Jury is still out for me on Quinlan Vos's hair-do though... suitable replacement may need to be found! On 7877: Very dynamic box-art... certainly sells it. Another lovely version of the N-1. I may consider buying this one seeing as it's 4th incarnation. Like the red-garbed pilot. The Droideka is over-designed unfortunately. On 7879: Intrigued to see this in the flesh. Minifig selection sounds about right (excluding rebel troopers). Can't help thinking with all these Hoth releases they should have just given justice to this pivotal location in one major set including interiors, shield generator and turrets?
  12. I'll be driving down Thursday morning but won't be staying overnight - would it be best for me to come to the hotel and continue on with the group from there? Might be best for a meet and greet before heading to the park?
  13. Man, the bling on that is so awesome I need to wear shades! Superb detailing throughout... what a great entry. Good luck in the contest!
  14. Super cute, great humour! You must have been smiling with delight while building this. Good luck!
  15. Cheers! I wanted to take a different approach to the theme of the contest. The Crab Droid was great fun to build! The legs are ball socketed at the hull - it allows for a lot of poseability but can be tricky to get it to hold still! I originally tried to build this in reddish brown but just couldn't get the right bricks for those shapes and curves. Dark blue is very CIS and seems to work well! Thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated.
  16. IT's one of Arealight's custom pieces. Thanks for the feedback guys!
  17. Thanks very much for the all the kind comments! May the brick be with us all! Respect! Thanks L. I used trans black 1x2 tiles as I have plenty of these on hand. The bridge is secure enough wtihtout the need for those being plates.
  18. And here's my final entry for The Character Rides Contest... Obi Wan's 105-K Lancer Bike. EDIT: I've updated the entry with a small change to the swoop's fairing. And pictured Obi with his clonetrooper helmet and lance: Back to the original shots: Another favourite episode of mine from the classic Clone Wars series featured the Battle of Muunilinst and the Lancer Troopers led by Obi Wan. I've never attempted building a 105-K before - this contest gave me the perfect excuse! I didn't photo it but Obi looks great with his clonetrooper helmet on - maybe later. Feedback welcome... thanks for looking!
  19. Hey, Here's my 2nd entry for The Character Rides Contest: Mace Windu's Hijacked Crab Droid. I love that episode in the original Clone Wars animated series where Mace hijacks a vulture droid and rides it throught the skies... awesome stuff. I'd been looking at the image of Mace destroying a Crab Droid on Wookiepedia and thought it'd be cool if he'd hijacked in much the same way the Vulture, holding onto it's system cables as a kind of rein... Mace has hacked away part of the Crab's shell to expose it's workings and cables: STOMP! Woah boy! Thanks for looking. Feedback welcome as always!
  20. Hey, Here's my first entry for The Character Rides Contest: Obi Wan's Arquitens-class Light Cruiser. Really liked this spacecraft ever since seeing it the episode Grievous Intrigue. Some close-up details: And the interior - the top of the forward hull removes to reveal Obi Wan captaining his ship: Inside there's two ops stations, a hologram comm device, weapon and cargo stowage... and a nice beverage of some sort! Hope you like it! Feedback much appreciated.
  21. Some to get us in the mood!
  22. I think it's RS McColl newsagents that do it in Scotland - at least that's where I got my promo sets when I was visiting last year.
  23. Superb looking mech Solscud - you've managed integrate Boba's colour scheme and the elements of his equipment into the suit really well. I also like how the suit looks reminds me of a gorilla in it's walking tank mode, adds an extra dimension to the design. Was that intentional? Best of luck in the contest!
  24. Nice entry Yogi, looks like you fused many aspects of Star Wars spacecraft to create this: the asymmetry that we see in the Twilight and B-wing for example. The results are great, very interesting fighter to look at. I agree with what was mentioned above about this looking more like a Jedi's starfighter. A bounty hunter flying around in those colours might get unwanted heat from the CIS! Good luck in the contest.
  25. Great entry Baron, really like the combination of low and high tech. Lot's of interesting shapes. Colourscheme works really well too. Good luck in the contest!
