Volkswagen bug suspension help
bord4kop replied to T_Tank's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
First: I love the way you build the thing so far. Good and accurate detailing  The original beetle had sort of torque (?) axles. I am not sure I am using the right word here. Me too, I tried too make a similar front suspension by using a standard axle trough some arms. Where one end was connected -fixed- to a liftarm thin, like this one: Whilst the other end was connected -fixed- to the chassis. Thus creating torsion on the axle. When creating a bigger model, such as an PF one, the axle snaps. This is a classic beetle front axle: You could try to convert it into the 1302 or 1303 ("Super Beetle"). As of 1972, which used McPherson front suspension. This is easier to recreate of course I gave up trying and finally I used a more or less standard suspension on my version.. Note: You probably know that swing axles where only used on automatic transmission beetles? The standard shifters used axle beam at the rear.. (in case you want to stick to 'as close to the original as possible ) And the tile "grille whit groove" should actually be located a little below the engine at the valve 'pushers'( what 's it called?). But now I am probably a bore The engine you created is actually a gem! -

Bord 's MOC
bord4kop replied to bord4kop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks! The diff is a new style one driven by a Gear 20 Tooth Double Bevel. On the other side (trough an standard Technic beam is also a 20 tooth Gear which itself drives an 12 tooth gear which connects some Technic, Gear 16 Tooth with Clutch. The gearbox itself is pretty standard. 20 to 12 gears and 16 tooth to 12 and 16 to 16 gears. The slack is on the 20 tooth beveled gear on the diff as far as I can tell.. Here 's a pic from beneath, although one cannot see it very clearly And from above: -
Bord 's MOC
bord4kop replied to bord4kop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
And my Baja Bug is finished. This next MOC is a bit more advanced. I am not totally satisfied, but it was a fun and informative experience It drives not that well, due to the ´new´ differential I guess. One car hear the gears creak Features Fully independent suspension Working Flat 4 engine 3/speed gearbox (not driven unfortunately :omg: ) PF remote controlled PF lights, with switch detailing.. deeplinks As seen from above: The Original (inspiration) Movie on YouTube, bad quality alas -
Technic Transition Talk

I agree to this as well. No change necessary IMO -
The note was done by a moderator, so it aint no joke I think the post was because the poster had two posts after another (1 day between em) with nothing much noteworthy. Second to that; there was nothing new to say about the set. At least when one is following the topic (see above for how 's and do 's). If I don 't log on to the forum for several days, weeks, months, etc. there is always tons of new material Me too, I figured it was a strange, unnecessary bump. If there is something new to mention, it will be in the topic in a flash! Well, that is to say; it was every time something new came up, that is.. And I am sure the people who ordered it will look the topic up from whatever depths it has gone and revive it in a hurry with good material and perhaps pictures too.. They want to be first to show of their 8110 I 'm sure! (I would )
