Interesting topic... Minifigures: Droid battlepack for me. I know they're just droids and they're cheap to produce, but 7 figures in a BP is just awesome. Parts: Easily the 8014 Clone Walker. SNOT parts, 8 hinges and some plates and wedges, great for MOCing. Design: The Hoth rebel pack. The Ice Cutter is well done, it looks exactly like in the movie; that's something you don't usually find in BPs. It's a tough choice, though - most BPs are great in one or two of the three criteria.

If you could pick one Star Wars Set to own
Supersonic replied to thegurumb's topic in LEGO Star Wars
^^getting the UCS Falcon and reselling it is probably the best idea. But let's try just to think of owning a set, not selling it... As I already have my favorite set (the 7665 Republic Cruiser, which I love even though its design isn't 100% accurate), I would love to have the UCS Star Destroyer. IMO, it's even more impressive than the Falcon. -

The pilots in the new ARC 170 are Phase II clones, while we still have Phase I pilots in TCW. Consequently 8088 is an Episode III set. (The fact that the pilots don't have cartoon eyes is evidence too, of course.) -
Oops, that's not what I meant - I mean a Venator in the same scale as TLG's official ISD and Venator sets. I can't afford monster projects like that (yet) I've been trying hinges and a technic frame, of course, it's just really fragile, but let's talk about that once I've figured it out and made my own thread.
-
Wow, that's great. I wonder how he did those angles - the parts used in the official Venator set make the model way to blocky and steep. Would be great to see building instructions for this. I want to build a minifig Venator soon and advice would be helpful. But I guess we'll have to find the guy first.

The Corellian Corvette ( e.g. the Tantive IV) was a ship that the Rebels often used, although it's a lot smaller than the ISD, of course. All the others are hard to realize - MCCs and rebel transports are very sleek and round, the Nebulon B is obviously not an easy choice either. Besides, the Separatists need a capitol ship too. The Providence-class carriers look easy enough, maybe we'll get one for the ROTS-3D-release.

This. It's not perfect, but you can only expect so much from official sets. Still, the price is outrageous, even for an exclusive set. Compared to BfG, which has Luminara, Rex and more than 300 parts (or to Mace's SF, which has 2 exclusives), this is a really bad deal. The only reason to get it is the pilot, maybe the security battle droids. But I don't believe it contains more than 200 pieces - and paying 25 cent per piece is ridiculous.

If you only look at the movies, the Empire wins exactly one real battle agains the rebels, which is the Battle of Hoth - a scene full of logic errors itself. The destruction of Death Star II was definitely unlogical. In a real world, Han's strike team on Endor would have been executed the moment they were captured, and fluffy teddy bears killing elite troops by throwing rocks at them isn't flawless either. But let's not get to much into this, we all love these movies regardless of their flaws. --- One of the ships I would simply love to see as a set is the Nebulon B frigate. Of course it would need some support due to its unsteady shape, but I have seen some great MOCs that are small enough to be realistic as 150 $ sets. Minifigs could be some Rebel technicians, pilots, and droids.
-
The fighter and the figs look great, let's just hope the price isn't too high. It shouldn't cost more than 30-35 dollars (considering that you pay 30 for the Geonosian Fighter which includes two new molds), but as it's an exclusive set, I'm afraid it could be a lot higher.

It's a good thing you point out logic flaws in the PT - I never noticed any in the OT! Look for logic mistakes as hard as you want, ANH, ESB and ROTJ are perfect and there is nothing wrong with them at all! Seriously, if you don't like the PT just shut up instead of showing such minor things in TPM - there are about a hundred logic errors in each of the movies (such as, let's say, the whole story about the destruction of both death stars - if SW was really logical, the Rebels would just have been crushed). And to prevent this post from being too much off topic, I would indeed like a royal starship - if TLG can think of a way to capture the sleek form. A fair number of new parts would be necessary, I guess. It would probably make for a rather good exclusive set.

If you actually think all these sets are badly designed, are there any sets you like? The Y-Wing, the AT-ST and the Republic Cruiser look fine als lego models. Especially the Radiant had to be modified - otherwise you would be left with an extremely small body and giant engines, which makes for a bad set. I agree about the Snowspeeder though - it's a shame TLG's still sticking to the X-Wing cockpit part for the T-47 even though it looks nothing like it should and this problem could be easily solved. -
What other SW "Battle Packs" would you like to see?
Supersonic replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I really hope there'll be stormtroopers in the Imperial Endor BP. They're really hard to come by these days and nearly all the Endor sets ignore them (except for the 2001 Ewok Attack). What we need less of are Scout Troopers. I'm hoping for one Scout, two Stormies and a Navy Trooper. A speeder bike and a small non-canon station (as seen in the Snowtrooper BP) as accessories. For the Rebel Endor BP, I hope there will be one or two Ewoks in it. You don't need many Endor rebels for a big BoE diorama, you need loads of Ewoks. -
I don't think it's too hard to build this model with the parts from the T-6. I guess anyone could do something like that without instructions.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion

Delta 7B's still suck. It's time for the Eta-2 to appear - I really want some of those as sets. -
There are so many reasons not to believe this... 1. Yoda's Hut would make for a poor set. Most LSW sets include some kind of vehicle - but a hut? That's not interesting enough for kids (who will buy a action-heavy TCW tank over a OT diorama any day). 2. The figure in the stun tank are totally wrong. 3. The set number. 4. The fact that there is no more space for more exclusive sets, especially not in that price range. 5. KimT already (more or less) confirmed these are fake. So no, there's no way this is real.
-
That's new. Dunno how I feel about that - you don't need more TIE pilots than fighters, and the AT-AT driver is in the BP already. Ben is nice, but he's in the Landspeeder...honestly, this is another rather disappointing magnet set. Where are Aayla, Shaak Ti and Saesee?
-
The frigate is a rather perfect way to get some of the new blades. It's expensive though - are they in any other (non-LSW) sets?
-
You're so right there. I can't imagine people thinking the new prices are high, while us Europeans have to pay so much more. Also, how is 120 for the frigate or 140 for the Falcon too much? That's the same price range as the Venator, Tantive IV or ISD. Both sets have many parts too. We should be happy - the only overpriced set is the Geonosian SF with 155 pieces for 30 dollars.
-
The guns and the greebles are done well, but I think the wings are too low. Compare them to the official rendition: Otherwise, good work.
-
I doubt they would add Boba Fett and not include him on the cover - he's a rather iconic figure, unlike droid or clone pilots. If they had included him (which would have been possible) he would be the calendar's star. The rest seems likely - the calendar already has droid, clone and rebel pilots, why not add a TIE pilot?
-
I'm surprised we haven't got new pictures of the Geonosian Fighter and Cody yet. That leaves room for speculation that Cody was just a preliminary choice...maybe there's a brand new clone in there?
-
Loving most of those! Amazing shot fenris. Great job guys
-
Nice! Could you look again or take pictures?

And the Republic Gunships, AT-TE, LAAT/c, SPHA-T, Geonosian Fighter, the Bounty Hunter ships, the Slave I and the Jedi Starfighter... If there's a wave dedicated to AotC in, say, 2012 or 2013, I'm pretty sure we'll see the Gunship and/or AT-TE again. They appear in TCW as well, so kids who watch the show know them too. A minifig scale, well-designed Acclamator would be the dream, though...

You're right, I finally found the picture here. Aayla does look nice Agree on that - a remake that comes too soon or changes too little is bound to be unpopular. On the other side you got great remakes such as Grievous' Starfighter or the Sith Infiltrator next this year, which are really a lot better than the old versions. But the newest Slave I and AT-AT are actually worse than their predecessors...
