D2C Contest: Attack of the dojo
Tazmaniac replied to lego-maniac's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Simply outstanding!! This is what I'm talking about , pushing the envelope that little bit further Many have said that some entries are too this or not enough that , but as LEGO continue to up the level of awesome you can't hold too much stock in what has been done before and must look to the future of sets. Who would have guessed the level of detail in the "Grand Emporium" or style and size of the "Death star" before thier release. This is the kind of set I want to see released not a carbon copy of an already released set design. Goods luck in the comp... you rock! -
Cheers again for the feedback guys. Still trying to get a good pic of the dash and interior, maybe the sun will come out today and let me shoot.

D2C Contest: Leviathan Dragon Fish
Tazmaniac replied to ---Vertea---'s topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great entry!! The sea dragon is awesome and really fits the bill. You may need to loose the multi-up images as they are not allowed but apart from that I think you nailed the theme and have a real LEGO set feel to your creation. Good luck -

Thanks for the link PM I'd ever seen those before, very informative Very cool build , and a great take on an original idea. Keep 'em coming! -
Cheers for the kind words guys I've only just started to expand my building from just pirate MOCs to other themes and though pirates will always be a first love I've got a real soft spot for Johnny Thunder and Co maybe it's the Aussie conection? Expect to see a lot more from me in this sub forum.

D2C Contest: Ninjago Battle Chess Arena
Tazmaniac replied to kris kelvin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner So well executed, it's a pleasure to behold! The brick built pieces are beautiful and the fact you kept them black and white rather than a mess of colourful ninjas is simple but very effective. Your use of space under the playing surface is great a real bonus to this already beautif set Good luck sir .... you may well have my vote. -
This looks like its held together by hopes and dreams but not studs or clutches, does it hold together? I can't see many contact points. Good luck and you'll need to full edit the title to be in the comp as DreamTeam said

There is a door at the front and I like that there is only one , it gives it that secure feeling like a prison transport. I do agree on the side door suggestion though just for visibility factor if nothing else. Great idea looking forward to seeing it in brick and stickered up.

Cheers for the comments guys Yeah the head light has been bothering me too I think I can get it better... we'll see. Just checked out your bikes MetroiD they're so cool !
-
Do you have a refference pic of the original design? Nice bike but no way to attach a Minifig. The space gun from the collectible Minifigs works great for a motor and would fit your scale better than the stud built one you have there now. Thanks for sharing.

I've updated the top of the front forks so thhey're not so chunky....not that that's a bad thing but it's good to have options new pics tomorrow. I'm glad some one liked my title

HMS Surprise and USS Constitution by BlaketheAdmiral
Tazmaniac replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Pirate MOCs
How did I miss these... oh the shame They're beautiful and the scale is great!! -
Well the way I see it LEGO uses the medium of video games to pormote it's building toys (LEGO system) not it's building toy to promote video games... if that makes sense. I can't see what a video game theme would do for LEGO sure they would sell some units but ultimately the game scores the publicity. LEGO encourages creativity and imagination where as very few video games do, so I don't see the conection. I'd love to see my favorite video game characters come to life in Minifig form but it's just not good business for LEGO.

I'm not sure on this but shouldn't the shrouds run slightly backwards towards the stern rather than straight up and down? It was some thing I missed on my ship and it was too late to fix by the time I found out, If you have not started the rat lines you should try the shrouds at an angle. If Admiral Croissant or Captain Green Hair can confirm this that would be sweet. I love the scale of this ship and as others have said the shape is superb!

MOC: Adventure Offroad Vehicle
Tazmaniac replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Seconded, nothing better for saving the radiator from those pesky roos or ostriches and I don't think it'll hurt the moc either, I think something similar to the one I did in "Curse of the Mummy" on Matilda would suit it quite well. I've had my style compaired to yours before and I'm starting to see why. -
Butt nipping..... really? I thought you nipped it in the bud, but then again I'd say bud any way
-
I didn't use any refference pics but just checked out the OCC site and now I don't think they're too big
-
It's the gun from series three alien Cheers for the comments guys

Well done Admiral ! A very deserved promotion to one of CP greatest assets, keep up the good work Admiral Croissant.

It has an "M" rating so it's too old for LEGO's target audience, Most 5-14 year old children don't know "God of war" and LEGO would certainly not want to promote this game to kids due to the high level of violence and religious content.
