Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Huigberts Builds replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
They never fail to surprise me. If only I didn't promise myself to wait for a gwp reveal. Either way it's my place to go for cmf series. Speaking of which, what reason could Lego probably have to not reveal it? It has been leaked, it's out in stores. The bootleggers have probably already stolen the designs by now. I really don't get it. -

Who's hair did you use for Pettigrew? The colour looks way better. Wow, finally a good look at all the figures. Thanks @Micmac Bellatrix and Sprout look especially detailed. I love them. So baby Harry has an H printed on him. That's gonna make him way less useful. Really not that big of a fan of it now, especially without the scar. At least there's Lily. Kinda wished she had a matching outfit to James though. The sword of Gryffindor is outstanding. Overall probably the best figure of the wave alongside Dumbledore (I really love my Dumbledores). Griphook definitely makes the extra year waiting for Gringotts bearable. So diagon alley will at least have one goblin to fill it. James look great, love the glasses. Happy he stands out a little from Harry. Got kinda tired of the customs using the same old Harry face xD. Love Ginny's face and hair, not so much together though. Her hair reminds me of young Lily. Also gotta love fred and george. The triwizard tournament feels better right away. -

Yeah I thought I remembered it going something like that, but I didn't pay enough attention to the Hogwarts d2c in 2018 to be sure. I already bought most of the 2020 stuff so I will definitely have to wait for the gwp set. Gonna be my first time trying to be on s@h again since last time they canceled my order without notifying me, because I wanted to pay with my bank (since I didn't had any creditcards.) Apparently they won't accept that at higher prices. Wish they had notified me sooner as the set was gone by the time I realised. So I guess I'm gonna need PayPal. -

Finally, I can get back on eurobricks again. Nothing wrong with my clock Either way I love the butterbeer glasses. Never would've thought we would ever get those. The mold looks really cool. Also love the new faces for Ron and Hermione. The potions book's tile looks really great with the sectumsempra spell and all. Just kinda wished it also included the name Half Blood Prince. Oh well, this will do just fine. I have an entire list of my guesses for 2021 and 2022. But I don't think this is the right forum for that so I save that for next year. But to keep it short, basically I expect them to use 2021 to make sets mostly set around the horcruxes (with an exception of the ring, which would be the resurrection stone instead) and the battle of Hogwarts. I don't really expect too much for the 20th anniversary as unlike star wars, Harry potter was most of that time not around. Maybe a fun little polybag and festive boxes but that's about it. For 2022 I expect them to give us the majority missing locations, like a chamber of secrets. But also with two or so crimes of grindelwald sets because of the third movie. Maybe a third one for the actual movie, but that's always tricky. And a cmf series 3 to fill in on the missing characters (with both fb 1 and 2 included for the characters that are unlikely to appear in sets, like Gnarlak.) Maybe another d2c, this time Hogsmeade. And from 2023 and onwards they go revisit old locations with maybe a hint of that new direction with a 19 years later train in 2022. But back to topic Don't you guys think it might be wise to wait a little in case there's a late gwp reveal? Or is that always revealed the same day? -

Yeah I agree. I'm not really a fan of exclusivity anyway, I rather want things to be easily available. Maybe, he would be fun ofcourse. But on second tought I think he might fit better in a future cmf series in his more well known outfit. The hogwarts uniform with the prefect badge and a new mold for his hat and hair. Also after rewatching the diagon alley scenes, I just realised this might be our one chance to get Hermione's parents. This version of them appeared less than the mind wiped ones from deathly hallows, only a split second, but still, it's probably more than the ice cream man. And Lucious directly mentioned them. Maybe a little bit boring of a choice, but not unwelcome in my opinion. -

This sounds actually pretty reasonable. Although maybe Arthur over Molly Very likely. I think that's the very reason they made Dumbledore without the hat. -

Meh, I'm still not convinced on that one, but it's of course still up in the air. But if the lc is included those figures will definitely be included. +probably a fudge figure. I just hope they'll go with poa Tom. Way more recognisable imo. -

I don't think Tom and the other two are very likely anymore without a leaky cauldron. Personally I think it's gonna be something like this: Harry, Ice cream man, Hermione, Ron, Fred, George, Ginny, Lockhart, Lucious, Draco, DP photographer, Hagrid, Ollivander, Fenrir, Quirrel -

I'm gonna say august 21. I always felt Friday was gonna be reveal day somehow xD. Definitely, I believe he even said so himself someday. Especially as Griphook was basically already a figure. Now if only we got a Lego ideas willow set. Is there anyone who rivals him? I know Harrison Ford used to be the first to have 2 characters made, but he's been long surpassed. -

Have you even read our counter arguments? If you want a civilised discussion like you said you wanted that's the least you can do. Also did we suddenly forget about the time he faked some screenshots of a conversatile between him a kingnono, the other fraud? Either way that's the last I'll have to say about him. Don't want the topic to be closed again now that a reveal is right around the corner. Oh no, not shop size, that's basically gonna be about scale all over again -

Yeah that would definitely be a no for me. Skipped the microscale Hogwarts, skip this one. If only the figures weren't that expensive to buy on bricklink or ebay and such. Or not microscale at all ofcourse . Either way if it is microscale, which it isn't, he would've just made a lucky guess. He trolled about way more than just diagon alley. -

Omg, that would be amazing. I hadn't even thought of that but that's probably the only way we'll ever get them. That reminds me, I still need to pick up a second quidditch set to complete the field. Just waiting for a good deal. On a side note, I kinda wished they would include the fantastic beasts book for F&B. Especially after just watching the movies. (They were actually pretty enjoyable, really want more sets. Just bought the dimensions pack I skipped to get Macusa). Although maybe it fits better in a cmf series as that way it will be printed rather than stickered (such a shame about lockhart's book, I hate stickers). That's for doors that are huge. The one in diagon alley is your standard door size, so about the size of the one in hagrid's hut and privet drive. The small space left open for a stud on the sticker gives us a scale, as we know the size of a Lego stud. That immediately gives us a scale for the other stickers as well. If the door was microscale (and thus the sticker) they would have just put a doorhandle on the sticker as there are no pieces that include anything that could go there otherwise. Forced perspective is also not the case as lego always choose either one or the other. Besides the stickers are all in the same scale towards eachother so that rules that out. Lastly, if the door still doesn't change your mind, the sticker for lockhart's book definitely shows the scale we're getting. I used to be open minded about the chance of it being microscale, just to prepare myself for potential disappointment, but the stickers don't lie. -

I agree about Barricuda Bay, but Diagon Alley would work completely different. The Bay is roughly speaking basically the same build but arranged differently. Switching between the two is relatively easy and will take only minutes of your time. Like you said, DA will be a lot more complicated. You'll basically have to build an entirely different building, and the stickers cause you to not be able to switch between them easily. I mean it might happen, certainly a possibility, but it won't be as user friendly as the bay. We've seen the reactions of people having maybe to buy gringotts separately. Just imagine the reaction if on top of that they'll also have to buy a second 400 diagon alley xD. And honestly if they approach it as a 2 in 1 set I'll doubt Gringotts will be one of the options. The building requires way too many different stones compared to the other shops. I mean I believe it's the only white building on the street. Well I guess there still was this vague rumor about a store exclusive set, then rumored to be the ministry. Can't remember the set number but it was still up in the air which set number was diagon alley and which wasn't. Just imagine them both being the alley xD. Although I don't think that rumor had any credible sources behind it. Nonononononono. He who must not be named was wrong about absolutely everything. You know who's second account double proved that with the release of the cmf series. -

I actually meant it like what they did to the 3 marvel mechs recently. 3 previously separate sets, combined into 1 box. I think fans will be outraged if they either have to choose between building 1 shop over another, or having to buy two 400 sets to get the entire street. Oh no . We can do this, let's go! (At this rate we'll be reaching that amount this weekend already, even without trying xD). -

Still not sure whether I'm sad or happy if Gringotts isn't included. Really depends on the quality of the sets. I can see clearly onw that baby Harry definitely doesn't have the scar. Oh well. This will do I guess. I might just buy 2 and cheat a little with some paint. Won't be purist though Well ever thought maybe lego is putting the customer at number 1 right now? You must remember the countless of people, many of which said so on this very forum, who can't afford a 400,- diagon alley set, but desperately want a part of it. This is probably the majority of the people. So they will be very happy if they're able to get the one centre piece of the street separately. They even were able to get the most important shop owner through a gwp set 2 years ago (although that one was kinda hard to get for some people.) That being said, now that those without 400 to spare are happy, let's take a look to the other side of people. What difference does it make for them whether they buy a 500,- fully filled diagon alley set, or a 400,- + a 100,- one? The end result will be the same, a complete diagon alley. Only the boxes might look a little bit off, but that should hardly be a real problem. And if it is Lego could just do a 2in1. Not sure if that's ever been done with a d2c, but they might as well give it a try. Now for the people who say they shouldn't need to buy a second set to complete their 400 dollar one (if there are any). It's not like that extra 100 you were willing to pay for a 500 complete set suddenly went away right? You probably even have a full year to save up for it. And for those comparing it to the real world famous landmarks. Sure you're not gonna make new York without the statue of liberty, Paris without the Eifel tower, London without the Big Ben (and the rest of the tower) etc. However that's usually the one thing they're known for. Many people usually aren't even sure about the other landmarks locations in that area, nor would they be able to stand on itself. While the diagon alley shop surely can. It's the most fun part in the theme parks to many and they have quite some interesting buildings to win people over. Mainly Ollivanders and WWW. Sure the daily prophet can't stand on itself, but it doesn't have to. Besides, most people who are already planning on buying a 400 dollar Harry Potter set surely are the people who are probably hardcore enough of fans to don't mind if it's just a part of a bigger display. Most licensed d2c sets are targeted at hardcore fans anyway, not towards to casual buyers and the children like regular sets. Also as one final, although slightly jokingly argument. People are also buying gaming consoles and games separately, so why would it be a problem for Lego sets. What I'm trying to say is, you can't have everything at once, surely not in the best possible quality imaginable. This is, if true, ultimately the only option to please the most amount of people. And thus, lego puts once again, the customer first. -

These stickers look very cool. So many buildings are being represented, we basically get the entire street. I think I'm only really missing the clothes and pet shops. Still I'm sad there's no Gringotts, B&B and leaky cauldron by the looks of it. Leaky cauldron would definitely had the sign included in a sticker if it was included. But I'll take the entrance wall as well. We did get more buildings than I ever thought anyway. And gringotts can easily be its own set. Still kinda odd that if they are planning to release it separately, they didn't bring them out together. But at least everyone who's only interested in gringotts can save some money if that's the case. Really curious how they're planning to do the interiors with this much buildings most pieces are bound to go towards the exterior. Also really curious towards the www head. I guess it's gonna be brickbuild. Or maybe it's like that one hidden side character from the fire truck set. -

I really hope Lego will be ahead of the leaks. I love leaks, but they kinda ruin the surprise. I really hope they reveal it this week (although I highly doubt it). Could this be a pirate bay situation where the reveal is literally right before release? Also I guess that august 7 release date for the cmf series from the brickshop website isn't going to happen anymore. They've like less than a day to "reveal" it. -

meta_bricks on Instagram made a great moc for Hagrid's motorbike. I hope he makes a tutorial someday. Can't wait to display Dumbledore and Baby Harry outside of privet drive. Still can't really see the scar though. -

I just realised, looking at the figures, Harry does have Lily's eyes . kinda sad Bellatrix doesn't have a second face print though. Dumbledore looks great though. Also I guess there's no reason at all now to assume that the leaky cauldron can't appear in the d2c. We've already had the butter beer so they might as well throw in the buildings. The Hagrid brickheadz is kinda meh, no new prints and I feel like I've seen better custom ones. Oh well. Also, for everyone in the Netherlands and Germany. The astronomy tower is heavily discounted on Amazon. Don't think it get much cheaper than this so for everyone waiting for the right moment, I think now might be the right time. -

Wow, these are amazing. Every single one of these were a complete surprise. So glad we got variations on Fred and George that are unlikely to appear anywhere else (I honestly only expected their Christmas outfits in an ac and the www in diagon alley.) Their accessoires are also great. HBP Hermione and Ron are fine, makes sense next to Harry. They aren't anything too special though, hopefully they have some nice accessories. James and Lily are probably the best part from the new figures. Didn't even dare to hope for them. Also I guess if baby Harry doesn't have the scar, this would be our first decent flesh coloured baby as the other was from friends or had a mask. Although it would be really weird, did we ever even see him without the scar? Ginny is a nice surprise. Really adds to the astronomy tower. And the hair and face are probably really welcome for everyone who was disappointed with the burrow one. Probably pick up multiple of her just to make some purist Ginny variants. For the new look at the other figures, the gryffindor sword looks great. I also love how we get a clean diary. Kinda odd though to see MM with medium legs, considering the actress was an adult, but it makes sense. Great new colour to get them in though. The new dress prints are great as well. Kinda missing villains though. Either way Lego is really messing these Harry Potter reveals up. They wait so long until they eventually just get leaked, they're even in stores already. Oh well, at least we finally have some new info. -
