Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Huigberts Builds replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I believe Nearly Headless Nick has already been confirmed for Legacy, so a character like Peeves could be pretty likely to show up. I just hope they don't use the Hogarts Mystery design as it looks a little bit too soft. Personally I'm very nostalgic to the old Harry Potter pc/ps designs for Peeves. Which was also by Warner Bros. So I hope they take some inspiration if he makes an appearance. Not to mention that I would really like some Legacy sets. Doesn't sound too farfetched. They'll need some new inspiration anyway after next year if they wanna keep things interesting in the long run, there won't be too much left to do. -
Yeah... Should've known better. If only the Christmas ghosts were included to change their minds

I'm quite dissapointed it's a qwp set. Especially as I already made all my big purchases for the year. Oh well. Hopefully the resellers are nice.

Flying Class would also be a good 4th choice. Hooch is the only event exclusive character that didn't receive an alternative way to get her. -

These look great. I just hope the flitwick beard is temporary. The hobbit line has some more accurate beards if recoloured or a new piece would be even better. Although I'm just glad we'll get this version. That said the builds look so big. Very detailed. This is a beautiful display piece. I was planning on changing them and using it in the hogwarts sections but on second thought that would never look as good as they do now. Can't wait to see better pictures. -
It's done similar to the simpsons one. So a printed goldfish on a transparent head piece. You can see it next to Elmo on the stairs. Although looking at it again it might be slightly stylized.

I absolutely love it. The fact that it includes a second building is even better. Looks way more like a street now. The downscaling doesn't bother me at all, just big enough. Such a nice detail how they include Mr Hooper's drawing and store. I personally don't really know the character as I grew up with the Dutch version of the show, but I know how much he meant to it, so it's a nice little tribute. I think all the characters look very good. Surprised Ernie uses short legs, but it fits. We even get Elmo's goldfish (Dorothy if I'm not mistaken) looking like an actual goldfish rather than the stylized version often seen in other merchandising. Really useful, we will no longer have to use the three eyed mutated fish from the Simpsons. I'm so glad Oscar made it into the final set. Gonna be a pain to find a torso for him though. I guess he will just stay a head for the time being. I think I might switch around big birds torso with one that has regular arms, which luckily is an easy enough piece to find. Can't wait to see the inside. I'm only kinda missing Count von Count and (super) Grover. They would've finished the set. But it works fine without them. I'm just glad we at least get Oscar. Maybe when the Sesame Street movie releases in 2022. I think Grover the Count and Abby are the most likely to appear if they ever give us more. Also makes sense to not give us everything at once if they see a potential future in the theme. Can't wait to get my hands on it. It would even fit nicely next to Diagon Alley and modular sets.

I'm pretty sure it is. Never have seen it before in any other licenced sets. At least we still have your advent calendar to get a taste of what the ghosts could've looked like (well except for Marley) xD
-
There are no ghosts in the set. The illustrations in the book, or at the versions I know of, depicts scrooge in his pyjama with a night cap. Which isn't currently an existing piece. So I thought it makes sense they picked the easy to make yet still iconic version with a top hat rather than reusing pieces to make a version that kinda misses the mark. Yeah that's fair.

Now you mention it there is indeed a lot of holiday stuff from Lego this year, and they all look great as well. Couldn't agree more, exactly what we need right now. On a side note, is this the first time we get a set based on a "modern book"? I mean Harry Potter is of course based on the movie and the red riding hood and jack and the beanstalk are ofcourse very old fairytales. I hope we'll see more like this in the future. Just think of all the possibilities.

It appears we're getting a Lego Christmas Carol set with set number 40410. An image has been leaked on Instagram by a very reliable source. The set is shaped like a closed book, with the spine having a sticker saying "***A Christmas Carol*** -Charles Dickens-" and some decorative stickers as well. With on top a small build of Bob Cratchet's home. With an open fire, stickered painting and stickered brick detailing on the sand green walls and wooden floor to give the impression of the state of the house being somewhat old. There's also a small window for Scrooge to look through from the snowy street. The figures included are: Scrooge in his suit with top hat and a new face print with side burns and glasses. He also has a black umbrella. Bob Cratchet with what I think is a new torso print and the Peter Venkman hair piece. Tiny Tim with a red scarf who appears to be reusing the brown Ron Weasley sweater torso. All figures are flesh coloured, so no yellow figures. The set looks like a very fun little christmas themed set. It's a very iconic scène from the end of the story. However the lack of Christmas ghosts is noticeable so is the choice to put Scrooge in his suit rather than the pyjamas he weirs for most of the story (the scene could've been based around the ghost of Christmas present instead, but that would've required new molds). What are your thoughts on all of this?

That's a relief, sesame street without big bird would be a huge disappointment. Can't wait to see better pics
-
The Jim Henson company (or who owns the rights idk) could've pushed for her inclusion though. It was always a thought (or more like fear) that was playing in the back of my mind. So I'm not too surprised if it ends up happening.
-
Abby would be the biggest dissapointment. The set will likely be bought by older fans and Abby is way too recent for that. It should be a classic. Although I can see it being Abby as they really push for her being an Elmo like mascot for the franchise Possibility two, maybe they didnt count Oscar as he was hiding in the trashcan? xD Wishfull thinking
-
Well Big Bird should be one of them (I hope), I think I rather have oscar or the count as two blue guys will be rather boring. Without any torso printing and all.

Wow this was a surprise. I wonder how the books will connect to each other. I kinda imagine them like brickbuild versions of the old cardboard common room, diagon alley shops and classroom sets. The potions class is probably the least exciting. The only interesting thing being the (hopefully printed) blackboard. Maybe it's our chance to get a full black Snape and more accurate Seamus, would've preferred a second Slytherin though. Transfiguration might finally give us an updated robe and hair/hat combo McGonagall. A cat and printed blackboard would've been better then what we got but I guess it will do. Herbology sounds great. We get earmuffs for around the necks and an exclusive Sprout. A hat without the muffs is probably too much to ask for. The room itself sounds interesting. Glass door sounds great. The beds are odd. I guess this set seconds as a Hufflepuff common room. At least something. The herbology torsos are really useful, if only they weren't house specific. Still that means another lack of Hufflepuff torsos. A blackboard also would've been nice, guess I'll have to get the old one somewhere. Charms is definitely the best one. We'll finally get classic Flitwick. Also a blackboard and another shot at the ravenclaw torso. I wonder why they picked a desk over the books Flitwick teaches on. Can't wait to see what's up with these. -
So we basically have 4 confirmed, Elmo, Cookiemonster, Bert and Ernie (as there's no Bert without Ernie) and 4 still up in the air, that being Big Bird, Count von Count, Grover and Oscar. Any other character just feels very unlikely to me (sadly). From the rooms that might be included, I think Bert and Ernie's apartment is the most likely to be kept. Elmo's world and Big Bird's nest are the only other locations that feel like they have a big enough chance to stay. I just realised we could've easily found out that one Bert was a fake leak just by counting the stripes on his torso xD. Either way what would you guys prefer? Grover or Super Grover? As a removable helmet is very unlikely. I can't decide.

Really want the Dumbledore hair in white now, to make a more accurate hatless one. -
Not to sure about that Grover being real. Sure Elmo is next to it, but he looks slightly different then the other.
-
Count Von Count luckily looks just as good as Bert. And here I thought they would make him with existing pieces as they easily could've made him look good. Didn't even think we would see him. Now there's only 3 more to go to make me completely in love with this set. Just wondering how they're ever gonna do big bird, if at all. Definitely regular legs. Maybe a the sandwich board style mold to include the tail?
-
That's just the original ideas submission, not the final product
-
Cookie Monster looks really odd, and he definitely could've used some printing to represent his bigger belly. The white from the eyes going over the fur also doesn't help with this version, I hope that will be a little bit cleaner on other ones. The mouth being so straight also makes him look a little odd, he looks to clean. At least Elmo has the nose going on for him.
-
And there is a cookiemonster tease
-
Oooh I love Bert. So glad he has the midlegs. His little turtle neck being molded is also very funny to me somehow. So this basically confirms Ernie as well. I think Cookiemonster and Big Bird are also save bets. Not sure about the others though.
-
How good to see new molds. He looks a little funny though. The mold kinda looks like a knockoff mold. But I thought the same of the Disney leaks back in the day, and I love those now. I don't mind the lack of torso print as I rather have the budget go towards the molds. Just as long as the characters with clothes get prints. I guess Grover and Oscar can use the same mold if they print the unibrow and nose. But I thought the same about Cookiemonster and Elmo and that's already of the table so who knows. I'm just really curious which characters we'll get. I really think/hope they'll leave out the humans as they're exclusive to almost only the English version of the program, plus I don't wanna miss out on muppets just to get humans.
