Hello eurobricks community There has not been too many great reviews for this fantastic set so I decided to do one for you guys! This set is almost a must buy even though it has been retired for quite some time, it's an amazing set and it really pulls you back into your childhood. This set was officially released back in 1998 selling for $20.00! Now a days you can find one in great condition for only $40.00-$50.00! This set was in the Ninja wave or the spinoff of a castle series and it has 198 pieces and 3 minifigures! And without further of do lets dive in! WP_20160426_16_49_14_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr And just right off the bat there she is! It looks very ancient and oriental in every way! Sorry for the bad lighting . WP_20160426_16_50_21_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Here are the minifigures! They all look fantastic! According to multiple resources the black ninja on the far left is named Bonsai. In the middle that is the master samurai, and to the right is the samurai apprentice. WP_20160426_16_50_58_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Here is a look at all of them without there armor or hoods in the way. As you can tell they all have very nice torso prints and great face prints with a ton of detail! There is absolutely no back printing so there is no need to show you it. WP_20160426_16_51_45_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Here is all the minifigures weapons and armor! Correct me if I'm wrong but the Ninja line is the only line that has those black older style guns! WP_20160426_16_59_18_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr For there time differences they actually look pretty similar! WP_20160426_16_53_05_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Now on to the fantastic stronghold! I mainly wanted to start out by showing that very nice structure item that is on both sides of the grounds of the stronghold. Such a simple design but yet so effective! WP_20160426_16_53_20_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Here is the beautiful front gate of the stronghold! Two very large wood doors with some flags on the front of them that adds a ton of color! WP_20160426_16_53_37_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Up on the second floor of the stronghold there is a booby trap! Oh yes a booby trap and their is still one more in the set! This particular trap has 4 1X1 cylinder pieces in light grey that act as rocks. And the point of the trap is to make sure that no one can get through the front gates! WP_20160426_16_56_27_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Poor poor Bonsai . WP_20160426_16_53_46_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr At the very top of the stronghold there is a small balcony where you can pose some figures for play! That flag piece is almost a plastic type material and is very sturdy and strong, will not rip easily! And those light grey fish pieces are simply an amazing mold! We do not see it anymore but that could look good in a ton of MOC's. WP_20160426_16_54_43_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The back or interior of the stronghold is lacking a lot of stuff that could make this feel a bit more homier. But in the overall this looks very good! That ruby must be very desired because Bonzsai really wants it! The ruby also has two yellow chalices on either side just for looks or maybe their worth something as well. But this brings on the second and last booby trap of the set! WP_20160426_16_55_24_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr When you pull out this pin it will drop this massive axe right in front of the ruby! So... WP_20160426_16_55_10_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Once again poor Bonsai! WP_20160426_17_01_50_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr One of the last and one of the greatest features about this set is that you can easily pull off the second and balcony off to allow easier play inside the stronghold! WP_20160426_16_58_22_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr And that is it for my review of the Samurai Stronghold! My opinion is that this is a must have set if you like medieval, ninjago, or the oriental johnny thunder theme! For kids this set is a 10/10 for sure! Great play ability with the booby traps, and the ruby! For teenagers it will definitely be a 8/10. I scored it less for teens because its a great set in all but there is not much really here for a teenager but it still looks really sharp! Then for adults it would have to be a 10/10 easily! It looks great, the figures are great, and its just a fantastic set! I hope my review helped you in any way and if I didn't show you something let me know! Thank you for reading all of this and I hope you have a great day!

Who is your favorite Ninjago villain?
azog replied to Master_Data's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I love the snakes for sure! Pythor and scales are just amazing villains at least in the rise of the snakes season, but garmadon will forever hold a place in my heart -
The green nrg dragon looks fantastic! But the fact that I almost just spent $500 on Lego...I just don't know. Can someone help me out here?
-
And not just a single wave, to be honest it was almost a disappointment. Especially because kingdoms and castle (before kingdoms) was such great lines with tons of sets
-
I personally think that flick fire missiles should be discontinued, kids love the new ¨flick" weapons and it goes a lot faster and hits your target almost exact as the flick weapons it was hard to aim with them

This set does sound like a pretty nice set, and looks like one too! , looks like another $120 jumping out of my wallet
-
Yeah I need to make my photos better for sure thanks for that! And I appreciate the tips thanks! And I was trying to keep a classic feel to it so it would match up with future or past Lego castles
-
That was what I was trying to aim at here. I wanted it to not look out of place with my lion knights castle, and the trap door had to be done. It couldn't be a evil fortress without a trap door to a prison!
-
Beautiful ship indeed! I love the way that you built the whole bottom deck!

I think the samurai x cave looks like this

Thanks for the reply! :classic:The trap door was one of the last editions to the fortress along with the tower in the far back.

Hello Eurobricks community, this is my first MOC and it might very well be my favorite one! Background: I have always been in love with the Kingdoms series and loved every single set they made for it which I think many of you guys can agree on. But I have always had one argument about the theme and that was how there was no proper fortress for the dragon knights, yeah sure you had prison tower rescue, and escape from the dragons prison but those weren't fortresses or castles they were more like a section of a wall with a gate. nothing interesting at all! , So I had a great idea of combining those two sets and making a bigger fortress, all I would have to do is add some pieces to the thing to complete it. So this is my finished product, you will notice those two sets within my fortress. WP_20160423_15_55_40_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Right off the bat there she is! You will notice the prison tower rescue is mostly the super structure for the front of the fortress, I did extend out the right side and removed the stairs to the left. WP_20160423_15_56_24_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr This is the right side of the fortress and you will notice that it is very similar the kings castle. You will also notice that octagon style of tower. WP_20160423_15_56_51_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Then this is the back. It is very similar to the right side but instead on the far right there is the stairs that were in the front of the prison tower rescue, but blocked off and locked by the gate in the set escape from the dragons prison. WP_20160423_16_00_59_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Then this is the left side of the fortress! My favorite side too! The rock structure took along time to make! I did remove the rock that was originally on the prison tower rescue to add a way for the lion knights to get inside the fortress! And you will notice the prison bars built into the rock. WP_20160423_16_02_38_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr not much in the room there but it is mainly made as an entrance not a social gathering. WP_20160423_16_02_51_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr And there is a closer look at the prison bars, and yes that is the original branch that was in the prison tower rescue. WP_20160423_16_04_32_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Now for more in depth picture, instead of a prison at the top of the tower I made it a place where the dragon knights can display there kingdom jewel! WP_20160423_16_03_29_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The tower in the far back right corner is complete and decked out. WP_20160423_16_05_25_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The last floor of the tower is just a place where the dragon lord can store his royal hoarse! WP_20160423_16_05_15_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The second floor is where the dragon knights store there royal gold! WP_20160423_16_05_44_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr Then the third floor is where the dragon lord will "rest". And by rest I mean yelling at all of his knights from his balcony. Then the very top there is mainly just a watch tower where you can stage some fights or just pose figures. WP_20160423_16_06_25_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The interior of the lords resting quarters consist of some weapon racks where he can store his sword and shield and in the middle that's where he will set his helmet or his wig. WP_20160423_16_03_11_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr The back left tower is the two ends of escape from the dragons prison set combined to make one complete tower. WP_20160423_16_04_47_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr There you can see how I extended the front right walkway out. And that is it for my MOC and to see the set in play I added a section for what can go down for kids. WP_20160423_15_57_29_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "I don't think anyone saw me walk around! Lets hope not, let me just break this chain here so I can get inside!" WP_20160423_15_58_08_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Royal gold here I come!" WP_20160423_15_58_36_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "HEY!" says the dragon solider. "FOR THE KING!" says the lion solider WP_20160423_15_59_15_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr 'Whoa" WP_20160423_16_00_20_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Right where you belong lion solider! MUHAHAHA" WP_20160423_16_01_43_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Why am I always the guy that has to save the day?" WP_20160423_16_02_20_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "alright my friend and the gold i'm coming, it's a good thing I paid off the builder" WP_20160423_16_07_39_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Just keep sneaking, your almost there" WP_20160423_16_08_14_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Hold tight my fellow companion I just need to unlock the door" WP_20160423_16_09_38_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Now lets get out of here!" says the lion knight. "I wouldn't be more happy!" says the lion solider WP_20160423_16_10_43_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "Were going to have to fight our way out of here! Solider! Get the gold!" WP_20160423_16_12_42_Pro by jameswestman, on Flickr "We got the gold, lets go!" And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed and I will be happy to answer any question you might have for me!
