  1. Yes, great song, indeed. And an excellent, but also corageous decision to make that song the first single of their album, back then. I'm listening to: EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY - how strange, innocence CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH - some loud thunder
  2. @Asuka: Yeah, that explains everything! *sweet*
  3. I agree, but not to everything you said. As I also wrote yesterday in my introduction for new members, I miss the more detailed sets, but theses had their best times even back in the 80s, not the 90s. I also miss the variety that for example city-sets had back then. On the other hand I think that LEGO got better again during the last couple of years. You can see a trend going back to more simple themes again, my only complaint about them is being to "technically". Look at the Viking-series: It's like a mixture of Sci-Fi and Vikings, if you know what I mean. I also miss civilian sets outside the City-series, it's all about fighting nowadays. Why don't they produce nice shops and similar sets for the Castle-theme, for example? I do not completely agree to your statement about the minifigs. Do you remember that the first variations of their faces (although they still all had the smiley-look) came with the new Pirates-Theme? That was a revolution back then, I even felt that when I was a kid - and I loved it. Before that all minifigs had the very same face (perhaps with the eception of female minifigs, I'm not sure when they first got other lips and eyes). Perhaps a few more still smiling minifig-faces today would be nice, but in general I still consider the different expressions a enrichment. But the way LEGO changed over the centuries is a very interesting and complex story, anyway. As I'm relatively new to this community I'd too love to hear what you other membrs think about this.
  4. But where are the delicious strawberries? Strawbrerry fields forever!
  5. Nathan, I took a look at your huge MOCs - and they blew me away, honestly. Absolutely awesome! I have respect for all kinds of MOCs, but I personally prefer MOCs which are not just smaller versions of buildings, vehicles or whatever existing in the real world. I like completely made up environments or creatures best. Some of your MOCs are along the most beautiful I've ever seen, especially "the caves". *sweet* And I'm not trying to butter you up, haha. Your "waterfall" is pretty dusty, by the way... ;-)
  6. Sorry, but I've forgotten in which way AFOLs use the term "dark age"... I've read that term quite a few times, but just don't remember it's meaning... Can you help me? :-/
  7. Welcome (from one newbie to another...) - and recover well!
  8. So, after I've been reading some threads in this nice forum for a few weeks now, I decided it's time for me to become a member and start my own account here. I'm from Germany, 28 years old and a LEGO-fan since my childhood. i never really paused being interested in LEGO and kept on buying a set from time to time since then. But I wasn't always satisfied with the sets and themes the LEGO Company published, in my opinion they moved too far from the idea having most of the stuff built from the original bricks. Also, I feel that in some aspects the quality of LEGO material is not as good anymore as it used to be... My favorite themes are City, Pirates (wow, I remember how excited I was when TLC started the new Pirate-Theme and added new expressions to the minifig's faces!), Western, Castle and old-school Space. But I also like some of the new stuff, so after being sceptical at first, I now DO enjoy some of the licensed series. There are a few Star Wars and Spongebob sets and one Batman set I like (It's the "Arkham Asylum"). I don't build MOCs very often, i'm more a collector of original sets, but I'm a bit picky concerning these. The MOCs I liked most were Transformers-inspired vehicles that could be transformed to robots or monsters. I built some of them (including a few clever ones) and that was really fun back then. ;-) So, I hope to have a good time with you nice people here! :-$ I chose this forum, because it seems to be a friendly, active and varied one. See ya around, rexcal
