  1. The one photo says 2766 pieces. If that stays the same (probably will), that makes it the largest modular building ever, in terms of pieces, and one of the largest Lego sets ever. http://www.brickset.com/list/?MostPieces It would sit at #11 on this list, below the statue of liberty and above skyline. Next largest modular building would be Fire Brigade at 2231 pieces (535 pieces less!) I'm wondering if they'll up the price for this one. I think they're going to have to.
  2. Maybe soon. He seems to have infiltrated the upper ranks of the ship.
  3. Looks great. I want to also point out that I am officially declaring 2012 "the year of the bride". There's a bride shown in this set, one in the upcoming minifigures series 7, and one in a special cake topper thing. Photos below of all 3. All three look like different prints, I think. New modular set bride: Cake topper bride: "Collectible" minifigure series 7 bride (back row on the left):
  4. For the horse possibility issue, I bet there will be a new horse mold with movable legs. I think this because we have already seen a new bear for the City forest sub theme, and the bear has movable legs. And that's pretty final - we've seen high-res photos of that (maybe someone has even done a review at this point?) So if there's a bear with movable legs, it stands to reason they might be giving horses that treatment too. And if that's the case, I wonder what it means for horse barding? Will the old bardings fit on the new horses?
  5. TRU here in the US now has CMF6 available and in stock for purchase online. They have the price at $3.50 though, when MSRP is $2.99. :( http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12131498&prodFindSrc=rv
  6. It's hard to pick a favorite. But for some reason I have a special attachment to this guy from the 2009/2010 building set: I like how he has a happy smile and an eyepatch. He has a unique face and torso printing (with back printing). He could be a shipwrecked privateer or even an imperial that got lost on an island. Well, okay I guess he has a pirate hat, so that makes him a pirate. I have him on the bridge of my IFS right now.
  7. No, I don't believe they said that. There was an official communication in writing (read it on the internet) that said something like classic Pirates isn't going away forever, it's just on hiatus. That was in regards to the announcement of PotC.
  8. I never tried out Lego Universe, but whenever I saw photos, I would notice stuff like the following. It's different, to be sure. I suppose it's possible to give the ninjago treatment to a pirates theme. I mean, they give the ninjago treatment to the old Lego ninjas, right? I'm not implying that Lego Universe is a divining rod to what Lego will do. Just saying that maybe if they did ninjago-ify pirates, this is what it might look like.
  9. Hm? I'm confused. It this the result of the voting thing? Is this a product? If so, how much will it cost?
  10. Goodbye Kingdoms. It's been a good run. I hope you enjoy your now home at that "medieval village raid" in the sky. I hope to see a speedy return of a yellow-skinned castle theme. And by speedy, that probably means late 2013 at the earliest. Time to start a-MOC'n, I guess.
  11. I'm a stud.
  12. Get. Out. That's a sweet deal. One time I got two of the lighthouse polybags because they ran out of the terrible-looking Hero Factory notepad thing. I like to preorder CMFs from TRU online, and return my surplus to them in-person at the brick-and-mortar store (gift card refund). Other than that most of my purchases from them are impulse shopping because all the Lego looks so pretty when it's lined up on their shelves, or I don't want to wait for Target/Walmart to eventually get something in. But yeah you really have to be vigilant and on your toes to make TRU "worth it" for your purchases.
  13. So frustrating! Nice try though. I doubt they'll respond with specifics, because that would be revealing a future set, and they try not to do that. Please update us here if they do respond at all, though. I wonder who is on the other side of their twitter feed: a marketing person or a customer support person.
  14. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=30016-1 Looking on brickset, this satellite polybag is only allegedly owned by 12 members there, and wanted by over 700. That leads me to believe it has not been released. Also, I've kept an eye out for this polybag (I presume) and have never seen it in stores. Does anyone know what the deal is with it? I like the looks of it because of the minifig and the trans-blue tiles.
  15. Oh my god there was a TV show. I had no idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWxeNd1DlBI I'm going to stop looking into this now before insanity takes hold of my senses.
  16. My girlfriend (we're 29 years old), who doesn't have much of a Lego interest in general, flipped out when she saw the Friends sets. She had to have them! We bought this treehouse set and the workshop/lab/classroom set. This one was great. From a parts perspective, I like the nice alternative colors. The best thing though are all the little parts that can go on flower stems. There are 2 or 3 types of flower buds and also these little red stud pieces in the shape of beetles. This is also one of those types of sets that catch my eye for landscaping parts, in this case the brown arches and leaf parts. I think TLG may have a winner here. The previous girly line looked a bit weird, but this theme feels more like the true spirit of Lego to me. If I had a daughter, I would totally push these on her. Funny quote from my girlfriend: "These sets are way better than yours, where it's just like one dude stabbing another dude underwater."
  17. Another problem is that I'm afraid TRU is going to sell it for $3.50 instead of the MSRP of $3 (rounded up a penny there). But maybe they'll change the price listed there when they start selling them. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12131498
  18. I got the Black Pearl and Queen Anne's Revenge for Christmas. I put together the Black Pearl a couple days ago. It's an okay ship. The transom by the rudder is kind of awkward. A strong point is that I like the rigging on the jib and the mizzen sail. Haven't done the QAR yet.
  19. A bunch of Christmas movies. Most of them were forgettable. The good ones were Jim Carrey in The Grinch and there's a Disney CG Christmas cartoon called Prep and Landing which are pretty clever.
  20. Ugh, that movie was bad. I'm sorry nobody warned you (me either). I actually hadn't seen Edward Scissorhands either until last week. I enjoyed it. Actually I had seen a little of it, but I was a young kid. Same thing happened with Nightmare Before Christmas - I saw that one for the first time as an adult too. I saw some Christmas movies recently. I think I saw two versions of A Christmas Carol (one with muppets, and one with Scrooge McDuck). I also get forced by my girlfriend to watch some bad romantic comedies around this time of year, like Four Christmases and Just Friends (her favorite movie of all time). One time I tried to "get back at her" by making her watch Star Wars, which of course she ended up loving. (Besides, who makes it to adulthood having never seen any Star Wars? I mean, really?)
  21. Oh right, I forgot the Hillside House. I actually have that one still in the box to put together. Maybe roofs are all red in Denmark?
  22. Ha seriously - vehicles and houses. At least I'm down with the houses part. Blue is a strange color, I agree. The thing that gets me though, is that I'm sick of red roofing. Bright red is an unrealistic color for a roof. You'll see ceramic roofing that is more of a salmon color in real life - TLG could have made the roof in a sand or dark red color instead. But I like the house. The main model on the box looks really fun to build. (Can't make out the alternate builds.) It looks just big enough, and reminds me of the Creator Beach House. I think those two would look good side-by side; a little beach community! You've got a sand castle and a wave, and a palm tree made with green slopes. I think they saw that the Lighthouse Island was a success and went well in the warm summer weather (sorry Australia!). I still think the minifigure is unnecessary, and would gladly give it up for other pieces. Oh well. What I like about Creator is you get 3 models in one. Sometimes I'm too busy to get engaged in designing a nice MOC, and it's good to have alternate builds. You can build a little and walk away for a day or two and come back here and there. Busy AFOL lifestyle. Does anyone know if there will be a second "house" Creator set? Last year we had the Log Cabin and the Lighthouse Island. And I think the year prior there were 2 as well, right? I wonder if they will continue that trend.
  23. I think the vampire castle lady is supposed to be a character like the matriarch from The Munsters. (Sorry I never saw much of the show / paid attention to it rather.) Someone also posted earlier pointing out that one of the cars in the sets looks like The Munsters's car. Heh, TLG would not market a character named Bloody Mary. I think that's considered a swear word in Britain, and I can say it's a little off-putting in the US.
  24. The skeleton horse mold is not new. They were the steeds for the skeleton army for the "Castle" theme in 2007/2008. Example: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7092-1 The glow in the dark aspect is new though. I don't think I have any glow in the dark stuff in my collection.
