LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion

Clearly he's an alien shipping and receiving yard worker; the crowbar is to open the space-crates of space-merchandise after they are unloaded from the space-trucks. -
That gap in his teeth makes me question his caution going down those slopes...
-
That reindeer plush is awesome!
-
I love her! The patch print on the sack is a great touch.
-
OMG that FACE on the Grinch! (I would have gone with Impostor Santa over Evil Santa, but whevs.)
-
She reminds me of a dance unit in the Disneyland Christmas parade. The gals wear snowflake costumes (not quite like this--their arms are free and the snowflake shape is mounted on their back) and roller skates so they can skate and twirl down the parade route!

How wonderful! This has me wishing TLG would add a Hardware Store to the actual Winter Village...or upgrade the concept to a Winter Downtown with a new modular every year! (Ot both!)
-
Okay, I am DYING of adorableness.
-
That's gorgeous!

That train is amazing!

Gosh this is gorgeous! Here are some of the details that stand out to me: Stud throwers used to make logs with little side branches. The woodpile in general. That is some excellent parts usage. I like the cheese slopes as split logs. The bush inside a hollow stump to depict the splintered inner wood. The headlight brick as a birdhouse (with a little snow cap). Various items of gear on the porch. This is a very hands-on Santa!

There's at least one more iconic Nutcracker character to go...
-
I realized another thing to appreciate about this progression of figures...the Nutcracker becomes more "real" over three days! First he's just a printed image on a tile, then he's a separate microfigure, and finally he becomes a full-sized minifig who can even transform into a handsome soldier! idk, Drosselmeyer is kinda spooky if you ask me. Maybe more mysterious than spooky, but he's still a bit of a shady character. The music drops into a minor key when he makes his entrance!

This is so good! I love all the details, like the old boards alongside the logs in the woodpile, and the use of textured bricks to create the wallpaper!

He's PERFECT!

@Robert8 it is wonderful that you found a second use for your extremely specific microfig shako from years ago!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion

It is odd to me that they chose to make the Violinist a kid (who is presumably at a lesson rather than actually performing--regardless of age, people generally dress up to play the violin for an audience) rather than an adult professional, since the latter is far more archetypal an image of a violin player. However, the violin itself is the important thing, and adults in formal wear are already abundant in LEGO City, so it's not as if we're missing out on the potential for formally dressed orchestra violinists as a result of this move. Re-usability is a big deal with the CMFs, to my mind--I don't want them to be so generic that it seems like a waste of an increasingly rare CMF slot, but I also don't want them to be so specific that they don't make sense without a surrounding context that I would have to make up from scratch. That's why I tend to like the animal costumes--they're great, unique parts and there are so many reasons to imagine people wearing such costumes, from Halloween to sports games to furry conventions theme parks. A hypothetical zombie space violinist...what would you even do with that? There's a whole lot about your sci-fi horror setting that you have to establish before you can decide there was a zombie apocalypse at the Astrobach concert. -
Drosselmeyer! I love that waistcoat print!
-
Love him! I made a Father Christmas/Holly King of my own, as well as a "classic Santa" that uses the red color scheme but more of a hooded cloak look than the usual suit. That rolling duck toy is inspired!

"Cabaret" has potentially salacious connotations that are a bit surprising from LEGO. -
That striped scarf is to die for!
-
What a beautiful figure!
-
@Robert8 designed a couple of Calavera figures in the Day of the Dead style, but I agree it would be lovely to see some official rep from TLG. Even just a skull with some extra printing suggesting sugar skull decorations would be nice.

A classic! And you neatly skirt the "no religious content" angle by giving him modern clothing. The hair/hat combo is a big winner!
