  1. I was thinking more along the line of something that would allow a CCBS set or MOC to be fully scanned into a tablet by pressing it against the screen, like Grumpy Sparrows Telepods, amiibo figures and AppBrick builds. But like I said, I'm not sure that's even possible. EDIT: don't know why, this changed "the game with birds against pigs you know" into Grumpy Sparrows. Weird
  2. What about a CCBS version of the AppBrick, so LEGO could get into the "Skylanders copycat" business? In case you're wondering, I'm kidding. But is that piece even possible?
  3. Consider myself convinced. I still miss when those sort of things were more advertised though; probably nostalgia. However, I should note that I wasn't asking them to combine every time in the story, even when it doesn't make sense (like the Mixels, or Transformers Energon), just to aknowledge that it's a power they have. And it's not like they need to; after all, they completely ignored the Skull Spiders' face-hugging mind control and color-coded powers, or the Golden Mask of Skull Spiders, but those still are canon. I think I didn't explain myself well. My problem with the new sapient species weren't the complicated names, but the lack of them as well as any other relevant information: there's a whole page in Biosector01 of unnamed species whose only information we got was "This guy who only appeared in a small cameo or a guide book (usually Dark Hunters) belongs to it". It annoyed me to no end. And that's why I like that this line is keeping things simple for now: no unnamed, irrelevant species. Also, the first time I saw a non-humanoid Kaita-like combination (the Metru, I think), I was thrilled since I though it meant Kaita weren't just humanoid or restricted to the fire-earth-stone/water-ice-air combination...only to find out those weren't Kaita, but a Rahi and a Vahki prototype. I felt so disappointed... Frankly, I think he's more like Jaller: close to the Turaga Protector, has wide-eyed admiration for the Toa... All it lacks is military training. And leadership skills. And being an adult. And being a main character. ... You know what, he looks nothing like Jaller at all. That contest would be cool. We need more fauna. As long as it's not sapient species (for the reasons explained above). ...Is that a trick question? You could always consider the Okoto society to be generally patriarchal with the exception of the Water Tribe being matriarchal. That's what I'm sticking to. I guess that's what people expect from a reboot: reinterpretations of their favorite characters, with a few new ones. Just go see any long-running franchise that is constantly rebooted: there are a lot of characters who are just reinvented versions of the old ones. That said, I like it that this BIONICLE has more new characters than rebooted ones. I just hope they add more nods so this doesn't become an "in name only". And we ARE getting the Vahi back... only it's a new version, a full mask called simply the Mask of Time (and with no connection to the previous Mask of Time, please don't restart the flamewars!) ...That is a GREAT story! Much better than the one I came up with. That certainly fits the G1 verse, where "science" wasn't very scientific...
  4. Frankly, I never thought combining to be limiting, if they were handled as a possibility in a million, like the Kaita/Nui fusions, the Exo-Force combined mechas and the Mixels: "They can fuse in many ways and with many partners; this is one example. Now go make some of your own". It's when the combinations became definite, separate characters that it became too limiting, in my opinion, especially since they often had to create an entirely new species just for that character.
  5. I would love that. Unlikely, though, since combinations and alternate models are advertised less and less as the years go by (a bad move, in my opinion, since LEGO sells construction sets).
  6. Again with the Vahi?! This is starting to become annoying! I think those are just bats to give the ruins/undead atmosphere. It would be cool if there was a set, though. Maybe it's the speculative, unlikely-to-happen exclusive? Okay, I get your point (and agree), but if they're masks of elemental power, what else are you going to call them? "Helmet of Vines"? Well, we do have that river/fountain flowing from the mask workshop... YES! True combiners are back!
  7. Thanks. That was really a long time ago! That's a really great idea, though I would probably swap the elements: a small water creature that needs to combine with a larger, land-dwelling fire creature to walk around. How exactly is "Sword of Fire" any better than "Mask of Fire"? The only one remotely different is the Scythe of Quakes.
  8. :wub_drool: :wub_drool: Yes!! Though unless the exclusive mask is the part-trans Mask of Fire/Water, I don't think I'll buy the Activity Book...which I think is the only one who will be sold in my country (thank God for online shopping then). Indeed unlikely, but it would be very nice to see that. On a sidenote, refresh my memory: what was the HF exclusive? So... something with the new rib-torso shell sideways? Seriously, though, I like that idea. Though I would prefer a more eel/lamprey like sea monster (don't exactly know why; it just feels more menacing in my head). Or maye Skeleton Cyborg Cthulhu. Forget that, silly thought. Frankly, I don't really mind; given how little information we have on the Gen2 Villager characters (not even the Protectors have names), they might as well be rebooted Gen1 characters like the Toa. The mask of Fire, however, feels odd, since it has an official name and power (which is not shielding). That being said, something original might be better and less confusing. My personal headcanon is that the Protectors let go of their old names and identities once they take the mantle, to mark them as serving their tribe above all else.
  9. I'm not exactly sure on that either, but I assumed since the city turned to ruins after the shockwave it could probably have affected the people living there as well. As for getting the same characters consecutively: that happens all the time in constraction lines. Remember the Toa Mata/Nuva, the Toa Metru/Hordika, the Toa Inika/Mahri and most of Alpha Team? Hell, Furno and Stormer showed up in every year; I've checked! Not only shooters, but shooters turned into hammers held by tiny arms. It needs that friction. I don't own a console, but I would like if they released a game, especially if it combines MNOG and the cancelled first game; unlikely, though, since the reboot is on a low budget. EDIT: As for the humor, that happens in most Lego Adaptations games anyway; as long as they don't repeat Piraka Beach, fine by me. I know your pain! Frankly, I prefer the Breakout torso to the "original" 2.0 torso; it's more detailed. But I think it would look too sci-fi for Gen2.
  10. I hate it when I have to study while the best subjects are being discussed . Oh well, I can participate now. Regarding the movie, I actually liked both styles, but I think they should have been switched: the more mechanical, set-accurate design for the Matoran Universe trilogy and its mechanical characters, and the more stylized, organic design for TLR and its organic characters. However, I wouldn't want a repeat from either for a new, Gen2 movie: I'd prefer a new style, more detailed and set-accurate than the animations but taking some cues from their design choices (like the shape of the forearms, and placing Gali and Tahu's pauldrons on their shoulders). And I would prefer if the film was launched in 2017, as a closing for the current 3-year saga (and maybe with a "The Adventure Continues" end, even if the line doesn't extend beyond that). Alexander, the video and the function seem great; it's only a shame the arms can't seem to stay up. Hopefully the official design will have something to fix that (more friction, perhaps? Or a lock on the gears, like the Nuva?). Speculation: what do you think is the story about the Skull Army? Who were they before turning undead, and why are they like that? My theory (at least until something official comes along) is: Also, do you think they might reuse some things from Gen1 that were scrapped, like the cyborg dinosaurs and Three-Finger Island? P.S.: for those talking about anatomical issues regarding the new bone pieces and their placement in the sets, I agree with you mostly. However, since these guys are merely humanoids and not actual humans, and their ranks include a skeletal invertrebate (with human-like bones no less!), that really doesn't bother me so much.
  11. That would probably be better achieved if the sets weren't so symmetrical: all the bone-like limb pieces are in the exact same spots on both sides of the body. The sole exception is Skull Warrior, who has a skeletal upper left leg, a skeletal lower right leg, a fully skeletal left arm and a skeletal lower right arm. If they were arranged more randomly like that, it would give a better sense of decay and disrepair; otherwise they just seem to have been built that way from the start (which they were, but not in-story...I think ) I don't think they want to use the masks; if you notice the box art of MMvsSG, Skull Grinder seem to want to drop the Mask of Creation into that vat of molten metal. EDIT: Speaking of the MoCr, does anyone remember if that gold mask in the NYCC had the hieroglyphs? If it did, I see no reason to remove them from the plastic version.
  12. Great work there! One thing I think we need is a soft rubber armor or add-on for organic parts and characters, with a hard plastic core to maintain shape and allow connections.
  13. I honestly prefered the animal heralds matching the character's abilities/personalities and the storyline. My thoughts exactly; a mix of System and CCBS is far more likely. Didn't know the theme was so unpopular, though. Probably because it kept reusing the same pilots and "opposing bases united by a bridge" plot. Back on topic, I hope the Grievious figure has splitting limbs and four lightsabers.
  14. That. Vader. Is.AWESOME!! Luke, on the other hand... look like an android, not a person. Though I'm mostly a Constraction fan, I have to admit the system has this fault: it's very hard to make a believable organic character. That's probably why I liked the Inika masks so much (I'm gonna get lynched, am I? ) No sure if anyone's noticed, but look at Vader's calves: there's an axle in the back. I think we finally got that full coverage armor we were asking about... (On a sidenote, I'm secretly hoping for a Knight's Kingdom II CCBS reboot every time I look at those calve pieces. But hopefully without the candy colors) And I wouldn't mind a CCBS Exo-Force reboot. In fact, I'd welcome it; maybe this time the robots might be interfacing rather than piloting their machines. My only complain is that it would be hard to make believable vehicles. But this is about Star Wars, so let's move on.
  15. Yeah, you have a point; I never knew the name even had a meaning till 2006, when I discovered Biosector01. And I really don't think they'll repeat the Great Spirit plot, since Ekimu and Makuta are well-defined characters this time. Still would be cool to find out Okoto is a living island or something like that, though. Shame about the Skull Spiders (and bad marketing, too; after all it's their main play pattern). It's refreshing to know they're making pieces with more personality again. And speaking of Gali and Tahu, I noticed something: remember that promo image with the Skull Mask? There are only two streams of elemental energy going to the pedestal: one red and one blue. And the pedestal seems to have molten metal flowing out of it. I think the missing Toa might've had a hand in reawakening the Skull Army, and it might've involved melting their masks into the skull masks. Maybe the Army is trying to do the same with the funmetal Golden Masks and awaken something worse? And I just checked MMvsSG's box art again; the pedestal has more molten metal. I don't think Skull Grinder is trying to steal/use the mask of creation... Yeah, representing a tridimentional, moving object as static, bidimensional printing always feels weird...but at least it means they could save the budget for the new piece molds. Probably the Toa; as far as we know, they're the only ones in the city besides the Skull Army. Then again, we don't really know if everyone got out of the city after the Mask Maker battle...
  16. Hi there, just joined Eurobricks. I must say, I'm really thrilled that BIONICLE has come back. This and Transformers have been (and still are) my favorite franchises ever. And I like the direction they are taking the story: simpler than before and with a bit more humor, but without turning our beloved Toa team into pathetic clowns or removing the mystery of the first three years. I am a bit disappointed with how the Skull Spiders and their Lord have been handled, though: what's the point of having mind-controlling mooks and a mook-controlling device in the hands of a villain if neither of those plot points are going to be used in-story ? Let's just hope the Summer webisodes fix that. I also like the fact that they are making more new characters instead of just reusing previous ones. It shows they want the new BIONICLE to stand out for itself instead of just riding on its predecessor's popularity (although I'm still hoping for CCBS sets of my favorite villains, like the Bohrok and Vezon ). About the Skull Army (or more precisely the new limb pieces), I think they could be improved with some pin holes instead of that huge gap (it would make them look less hollow and more bone-like, and would be more useful for MOCing), but I don't think they're as bad as some say. It certainly fits the bare-bones better than the current ones, without making it seem that something is missing. Also, something that has been said before (way, WAY back), but apparently ignored: what does the name BIONICLE stand for now? Does it still mean "BIOlogical chrONICLE"? Does it mean something else? Or are they just reusing the name without giving it any meaning? Because depending on the answer, we might have a few guesses about the way the story is headed...
