I am so sorry, Kristel, I thought BCD was your site. I think your modulars are absolutely fantastic, and I get more compliments on them than the official ones I got. I'm very sad to see that you're not selling the designs anymore (that's why I didn't use your name at first). Hopefully someday we will see more of your awesome ideas.

Thanks, those two modulars are designs from brick city depot, there's 2 more next to the PC, and I'm still working on getting pieces for their Coveted Clutch building. Ive been wanting to design my own, but so far I haven't been able to.

I haven't posted here in over a year. I just wanted to check in, I'm still AFOLing around. No huge developments. I just added the Haunted House to the set up this week. Since my last post here I've added the Ferris Wheel, Brick Bank and some smaller things, and still chipping away at this waterfall mountain. IMG_9521 I'm planning on expending the table again, so I can spread things out. I could either make it longer along the wall past the ferris wheel, or make a peninsula sort of extension where the round table is in the photo. I welcome any advice regarding future additions to the table itself. I took all of the little creator shops and added a middle part to allow the train to go through them, more for efficiency of space than for realism. IMG_9490 ..and I finally got around to replacing the billboard on the GE, it's not as good as I thought I would make, but it'll work for now. In the near future I'd like to finish the mountain and do something about the lighting situation in this room. Anyhow, thanks for your time. IMG_9517 better look at the waterfall IMG_9059 better look at friends neighborhood IMG_8680 and downtown, before I took all the speed champs out to make it less crowded.

I got back into Lego in 2014, after nearly 30 years. I was drawn to the city/creator/modular type stuff, and tried to organize a set up that kind of centers around those themes. The friends/disney sets made a cool, similar environment for my daughter. Sadly though, almost all of the little sub themes (underwater, space program, arctic, volcano raiders, etc...) haven't really fit into the sort of layout I've been putting together. So I've just been ignoring them, and gradually losing hope that TLG with ever release a sub theme that I could use, other than swamp crooks. ...and then I see this thread!! I just happen to have a beach next to a jungle with a lot of coastal space between it. IMG_9517 I'm very excited for the new sets to come out. I don't know what I'm going to do with all those yellow vehicles that aren't going to go in the jungle, but who cares. The crashed airplane, native structures and large cats are a dream come true. I'll have to spread some things out to make the beach larger, but that's ok, i'll just make the table bigger. I wouldn't post anything about this if I just thought the new wave was sort of cool, it's nearly perfect!!!

Wow!! GG is my favorite modular, though I just bricklinked in the original sand green. I almost wish I had experimented with other colors first. Xon67's chart would be immeasurably useful. Very fun to look at, if nothing else. The white one with the tan windows in the front row is superb. Someday I may have to build me another one.

1 CC, 1 GG, 1 GE, 1 PS, 1 PC, 1 PR & 1 DO Also, not sure that this counts, but I have also built 2 of Brick City Depot's designs (Trilogy Bar/Night Club and the Castiron Building) Currently bricklinking BCD's Psychiarist Office. I know I'll never get MS, and I think I can probably live without TH and FB.

IMG_1961 I have been very busy since the summer, between moving, getting married and a bunch of other stuff. But I have finally managed to finish the additions to my Lego table. IMG_1962 I've extended the right side (my downtown area) about 4 baseplates longer to the wall. Giving me more room for the modulars, once I figure out the best way to arrange them. Arranging them with the train tracks is becoming trickier. IMG_1954 IMG_1851 I have also extended the left side (my daughter's world) another 5 baseplates longer, and 1 plate deeper (making it possible for a train to turn around). I did cut a baseplate in half diagonally to fit in those two corners. IMG_1952 Eventually I'd love to make the train tracks go from my side all the way over to her side. Obviously I'll need more track, but I also have to figure out how the tracks should go. I think that some sort of figure 8 layout is the only way it will work, but I don't want the tracks to cross over water. Whatever, I'll save that problem for a time when I have enough track to do it. I also need to put the waterfall and jungle back together. Hopefully I have more room now to make those areas bigger. This photos pretty much shows the new additions clearly... IMG_1758 There's a lot to look forward to with this development, but I am happy that I've gotten one big step out of the way. I appreciate any interest, and I apologize if this isn't all that interesting.

Cafe corner has tons of expensive pieces in it. The doors, the skis, the window boxes & window panels, dark blue pillars and arches, lbg turn tables. Dark red roof pieces (36 of them). Brick linking that was expensive, I only subbed the window panels and turntables. They would've made it about $200 more expensive than it already was.

Favorite Collectable Minifigure?
Hemlock Falls replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love the recent paleontologist. I used to draw comics about a red headed safari girl, and they made a perfect Lego version of her. Although, I did end up changing the face on her. -
What Lego-related thing did you do today?
Hemlock Falls replied to Savage Oppress's topic in Community
My daughter and I are now painting some lumber that I cut to make our Lego display table bigger. -
What is the story behind your profile picture?
Hemlock Falls replied to Robert8's topic in Community
Mine is kind of obvious, I tried to make a minifig look like me. So it's autobiographical. His story is far too robust to fit into a post here, but I can tell you that it's filled with love, hate, violence, betrayal, depression, comedy, crime, success, failure, metamorphosis and surprises. He's been everywhere from jail to college, rehab to the family life, hospitals to climbing mountains in the desert. If a picture is really worth a thousand words, this one could be a best-seller. -
Oh no, not even close. I work in an inner city high school in NY. (Not New York City) A lot of these teenagers wouldn't be able to pass third grade in the suburbs, and half of them can't write their own names in bubble letters. They spend more time trying to throw stuff at each other than they ever do trying to draw or paint. I spend more time breaking up fights and babysitting than I do teaching the other few kids who could learn something from me. So, to stay in tune with this topic, I think I was mistaken. I guess in the Middle Ages I'd be unemployed because I don't think they had a welfare system back then to keep people like this alive.

The high school I work at got a 3-D printer and the first thing I thought was to make Lego pieces with it.

I'm an art teacher, so I guess I'd be doing kind of the same thing. Except I'd have students like Michelangelo and Vermeer.

[Rant] Getting LEGO by post - your nightmare stories
Hemlock Falls replied to AmperZand's topic in Community
IMG_7773 I ordered a Horizon Express from Hungary, and it arrived looking like this. Like some angry Hungarian who probably hates Americans just kicked the crap out of it before sending it. Either that or the mail people didn't bother landing the plane from Europe, and decided to just throw the box out of the plane. The Lego box was also damaged but not as bad. I know that this is only one order from ONE person in Hungary. So it's not fair to hold it against a whole country, but I do find myself leaning away from ordering anything from there again. -

What Happened Miss Simone, a documentary about Nina Simone on Netflix -
Yes, it's Dope! I'm a 40 year old inner city high school teacher. My students showed me this movie, and naturally my expectations were low. However, I loved it, I found this movie to be very entertaining, thoughtful and memorable. I even went and bought the soundtrack. Good stuff!
