  1. Thank you Scott, and everyone who has taken the time to check out my little display. I have a lot of other work to do from moving before I can really invest too much time into my display, but hopefully before long I'll be able to make further developments.
  2. I really love your buildings.
  3. I wonder if the 21110 Research institute could fit in there. That doesn't really jive with the exterior, but you know, maybe there'd be a bunch of scientists working in there. Could be top secret, low profile kind of thing. Or I could try to squeeze my Foxy Blocks Performing Arts Center into the 2nd floor of CC... IMG_0086 It's a bit too big to fit inside, but I could modify it I guess. That'd be awesome!
  4. IMG_1002 I've recently added a bricklinked CC to Hemlock Falls. The city is filling up, I need to make this table bigger, IMG_1036 I've just ordered 2 instructions for Brick City Depot's modular designs. I think they are well-crafted buildings with convincing architectural influence. And TLG just ins't putting out modulars fast enough. I'm not really crazy about the FB or TH, and I really don't see myself ever being interested in MS. Idk, there might be a place for FB in there. We'll see. But in the meantime, I've been trying to design MOC modulars on LDD, but it's time consuming and I've been pretty busy moving and stuff. So, I'm very excited to assemble some of Kristel's designs. And I kind of like the bricklinking process. I can order $100 worth of pieces if I can swing it, or I can do little $6 orders and still be making progress. The time it takes makes it more of a project for me to get into. IMG_1039 IMG_1037 Thank you for checking out my little world.
  5. IMG_1034 I've finished bricklinking the CC. The GG I did a few months ago. IMG_0998 I made only a couple substitutions... The 2nd floor windows I replaced with window frames. (the 20 white panels are just too expensive) The 4 LBG turntables I replaced with three 2x2 jumpers and a 2X2 tile. (this makes the tower and coffee sign considerably more flimsy, but looks identical) Other that that, I went with correct doors, 3rd floor window boxes, roof slopes, dark blue stuff around the door, the skis, everything. Some of these parts were excessively pricey. If I ever sell this I will spend the $$$ on all of the correct parts first. IMG_1017 But I can't imagine that I'll want to sell it anytime soon, it looks way too nice in my little town.
  6. I'm waiting on one more order, the two blue archs, that's it. I've been building up the stash of pieces to make this CC for months. Only substitutions I made were the 20 white window pieces and the 4 grey turntables. I did spring for the doors, I like the doors. I like the white skis, and the roof. Lego prices are just stupid anyways, so these pieces are more stupid, oh well. I've wasted more money on dumber stuff several times. I can't wait to put this bad boy together and add it to my display.
  7. Back in June I had the laborious task of disassembling Hemlock Falls. Even my daughter was asking, "Dad, how are you going to move all of this?" IMG_0187 We moved from an apartment to a house. I tried to keep my Lego kits intact as much as I could, to make re-assembly easier. I filled 9 boxes with Legos, 2 with instructions, and 2 more with Lego boxes. IMG_0412 For the past month I've been thinking that I'd put the Falls in front of this window, but when I actually tried it the whole thing just looked awkward, and the background wasn't very flattering. IMG_0694 At first I considered just completely rebuilding the table, but before I got carried away with that idea I thought I should try it some other places. It was built for a corner in our old apartment, it should probably be in a corner, or completely rebuilt (which I don't really have time for now). So I found a good corner for it, in this room that I had previously dedicated to guitars, piano and art supplies. Who am I kidding, I never play guitar anymore? IMG_0698 It's a basement room with no windows, completely covered in this 80's looking panelling. I thought if I ever want to take photos of Hemlock Falls this would be a way nicer background than a basement wall with pipes, floor joists and wires showing all over. And I spent my childhood (5-15 yrs old) in the 80's. back then Legos and panelling went together like Destro and the Baroness. At least in my world it did. IMG_0712 I spend a while day just rearranging stuff to look as aesthetically pleasing as possible, still not there yet. There's also a fireplace on the opposite side of this room. That's really groovy. I didn't want to set the Falls up exactly like it was in our apartment, but it occurred to me that the prior layout didn't happen in one day. It'd be foolish to think that I could magically come up with some thorough, well designed layout today that would be better than the one that evolved over months. I got boxes of Legos that need to be emptied today, no time to be reinventing the wheel for no reason, especially when I know that I am going to make the table bigger before summer is over, and have to rearrange everything all over again anyways. IMG_0737 So, here's where it's at. The 1st thing I am going to do is to extend the table to the right until it reaches the wall, that gives me four more baseplates in length, and that the downtown part that I really need room to accommodate the modular buildings, traffic and the train turnaround. I will also extend the left leg of the table about 4 feet (about 4 3/4 baseplates), still being only 2 baseplates deep and covered in friends, elves and princesses. I have larger plans beyond these initial modifications, but that could be months away. I will certainly be constructing additions to this display. I welcome any feedback or advice on my progress so far and potential directions I could take with the development of this Lego display. Thanks
  8. I am almost finished collecting pieces for CC. I only deviated from the true parts with the 20 white panels I replaced with 1x2x3 windows. Everything else is true to the Bricklink catalog. The only lot I haven't gotten is the 4 lt.bl.gray turntable bases. ($15 each, $60 is steep for these little pieces) I saw in this thread that they can be replaced with 2x2 jumpers (can get 4 of those from the trailer of the new Service Truck with the portapotty) except for one of them. (which looks like it could be replaced with just a 2x2 tile). The pictures in this thread only show where 2 of these turntables are s'posed to go. Can someone explain or show where the other 2 go? And any cheaper successful replacement ideas?
  9. Things have improved yet again at Hemlock Falls. IMG_0090 I got the pool hall from my fiancee for my birthday, I think it looks really nice in there. IMG_0110 I also picked up the new Changing Seasons house, which I thought, at first, was really tiny. It is, but I do like the colors of it, and I think it looks nice up there. IMG_0091 But the most inspiring addition to the falls is.... IMG_0086 That's right! Citizen Brick's gentlemen's club! Three of my friends chipped in and spent A LOT on this bad boy. But check it out, this thing is awesome... IMG_0077 The lights are far more obnoxious than I had assumed. It's like a grenade of exhilaration exploding on my desk. The excitement never ends at Hemlock Falls!!! IMG_0095
  10. I haven't made a lot of progress on Hemlock Falls, but I did build up one wall of the mountain/waterfall. Ultimately the entire black wooden box will be hidden by grey mountain and green/brown forest. IMG_7823 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr IMG_7824 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr IMG_7825 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr I also ordered another Horizon Express because I found myself agreeing with the people who think that it looks like half of a train with only 3 cars. IMG_7826 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr I redesigned the tunnel entrance, because when I googled "train tunnel" I realized that most train tunnels are very plain. My original one was too decorated to look realistic. Notice how perfectly the train fits into the tunnel. IMG_7827 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr I also added a bit to the jungle... IMG_7828 by Hemlock Falls, on Flickr So, further progress on Hemlock Falls will be delayed because we are moving soon, into a new place. I will have a bigger room for the legos, and I will surely need to construct a bigger table. I have begun ordering pieces to BL the Cafe Corner, but I intend on spreading the purchase of those pieces out over months and maybe finish it by the end of the summer. Also I have a feeling I may be adding the Detective Agency to it very soon, I hope (my b-day is 2 weeks away). Anyhow, thanks for your time to check out my project. 14. Sorry, Stuff got real busy.I will post a image tonight
  15. Better off Dead
  16. I wonder why Lego hasn't made a town school (other than the Friends one). Most towns have at least an elementary and a high school, even small towns. Definitely needs a bar/pub/tavern Diner Car dealer TV/radio station Maybe a laundromat or flower shop, But every town certainly needs a dirty book store. A zoo is a great idea but way bigGer than just a building.
  17. They won't do zoos until they figure out a way to include helicopters.
  18. Well, that's good to hear. I think I might have to try it soon.
  19. I really doubt that I can gather all of the pieces for Cafe Corner for $220-280, sounds a little low. I would guess more like $400-450-500, i guess.
  20. Caddy shack 2?
  21. Yep, Amy was cute.
  22. Clue? That character's name is Amy, and the actress's real name is Amy.
  23. oh yea, I see. I didn't realize supergirl was in the Brainiac Attack set.
