Really..? I can only think of Lex Luthor, Doomsday and Zod for Superman (not really that decent to be honest with exception of Doomsday). No idea what villains Flash has.

I was talking with my brother when this range was first announced and said that I won't be getting any (I buy Lego to animate with and can't see myself doing any with the LoTR range), but the more I see the sets with the awesome detailing (seriously, the detailing of Theoden is fantastic looking) I can feel my attitude changing. My bank account will resemble a national debt by the end of the year!

Wow the attention to detail here is astounding. A fantastic MOC, makes me want to shut down the lapop, walk out of the office, go home and break out the Lego

Nice review. Also thanks for posting the comedy images too.!

When I think of major comic book characters the Green Lantern is not one that immediately comes to mind. I doubt that TLG would pour all that resource into a film which as already stated bombed. I think he'll come in a small set or as an additional figure. I can see Flash turing up with Batman in some way seeing as he's already appeared in the 'New 52' Dark Knight comic. Would like to see a Daily Planet or Fortress of Solitude set for Supes though. That would be real nice. Something gritty based on the Arkham games would be great but doubtful.

Back to topic though (Thanks for your comments Vindice/Helicaon), I hope so too. It's a good sign that we're getting two decent Jabba related sets this year and really hope they expand for a Rancor pit next year. I'd be surprised if we saw any Endor related stuff seeing the battlepack this year and also the Bunker set from recent times, although TLG could surprise us with an Ewok village. Home One has also been done so hopefully they will stay in Jabba's Palace for a little while longer.! I too though am looking forward to Palpatine's Arrest. -

How is my statement wrong.? You'll notice that I didn't in any way allude to time = better, just that I'm surprised at the level of critism that's been put against the Gamorrean for what could be a pretty difficult figure to capture and may have taken a fair amount of time in design. -

I can't believe people are still complaining about the new design of the Gamorrean Guard and comparing it to the old version. TLG probably spent hours working not only on the fantastic sculpting of the head but also the paint detail on both the head and its shoulder pieces, and all some people here can do is compare it to the version that's nearly 10 years old and say it's not 'piggish' enough. A kid having this figure and watching either RoTJ or Clone Wars will be very happy with a brilliantly detailed figure that looks pretty much like it does on the screen. I for one am very happy for these new detailed figures (except the new Clones Padme) and wish we had these from when I was a kid. I feel at times that TLG can't win and I'm surprised that more detail in figures is something people are unhappy with. OK my rant is over...... -

I remember when I was a kid and Lego men didn't have faces or arms (they were set into the body) and their legs didn't move. It was like a whole new world when the space range came out in the 80's with poseable figures and faces. Back to topic - The new detailing on the figures are indeed fantastic and TLG must be proud of their efforts there. -

I can see your point but just think that this will carry on and progress for as we have now seen today the next 10 years. I'm still not overly hapy with the peach coloured faces on the licensed stuff and prefer the traditional yellow which to me is what Lego is all about but I guess this is what companies call 'progress'.! I would rather good detail than poor detail tough but at the same time I can see your points -

I think to keep it in line with the scene there would be one more. Maybe another 2 with the Barge. A battle pack would be awesome though -

At first I thought I wouldn't be spending much money on SW this year but I think this will change by the summer. Jabba's Palace is an awesome set and as already said may be the best play set TLG have done so far. I think that as we got Leia in disguise in this set it paves the way for having the slave Leia in a revamped Sail Barge (maybe in time for the 30th RoTK anniversary). Also having Boba available on the Skiff means he wouln't be required for the Sail Barge set which gives way for another of Jabba's court (Max Rebo band perhaps?) Seeing the new Dragon for the Ninjago set I wouldn't be surprised if we got a nice Rancor set next year which could dovetail nicely under the Palace set (why would TLG go to such great level of doing a top notch job of the trap door and sliding throne if it wasn't going to lead to anywhere.?) Maybe have it as part of the droid torture room as well (I know that's asking a lot here) I really like the SWTOR range. My guess is that Lucas will do a cartoon on this once Clone Wars finishes and have these sets churning out for the next few years. Again, the detail on the figures are great quality I don't understand a couple of the complaints here against the high level of detailing of Lando's disguise helmet and the Gamorrean Guard, surely if we're paying close to £100 for a set we'd want the highest level of detail possible.? I personally think both of these along with Jabba and Boussh are fantastic and full marks to TLG's designers. I'm sure everyone would be bellyaching if the quality was pants -

I agree, a big well done to the designers. When first seeing the box art for Jabba's Palace I was not really impressed, but on seeing the video with the trap door feature, the plethora of figures and the cool detailing inside and out I'm totally sold. The detail on Jabba is awesome. A sure fire purchase for me -
Interesting topic as normally I would say there's never enough Lego.! But I can see your point. I think maybe they should limit the minifigures down to one or two waves a year. The licensing side is difficult as I imaging the Star Wars waves have helped TLG during a tough recession, but on the other hand the amount of licensed ranges must make it a nightmare for parents to decide what range to buy and stick too. I don't think City will ever be replaced as the sets are fantastic for kids getting started with smaller Lego pieces, but I fear that other ranges like the Egyptian range (has this been wrapped up?) and maybe the Dino range may be caught out for not being either City or Licensed (not helpded with maybe very little promotion). Would be a massive shame with the Dino range as the sets and the molds of the dinos are amazingly good quality. I wonder if part of the problem is the tie-in with Disney. Having to provide ranges for films like Cars, Toy Story, Prince of Persia (OK film but not much scope for decent sets, and no sequels) and PotC (didn't help that they came out just to tie in with the damn awful Pirates 4 movie) means that there's more choice, which in turn brings the headaches.! It's going to go crazy with LoTR and more DC stuff (which is not a bad thing in the case of those 2). My only gripe is that there will be more flesh coloured heads than the original/trad yellow which I feel is part of what makes Lego - Lego (but that's an topic for another day)
-
While I agree to a degree, the children in the City range are not as important or as what the Hobbitts were in the LoTR storyline. I think this would be a shame if they didn't. I'm no designer but I can't see it being that difficult
-
Sorry if this has already been covered but do you think TLG will re-design the smaller legs for the Hobbitts so that they move.? Would be a shame for such prominent figures not being poseable. Cheers

Review: 6857 - The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape
AngryChair replied to AlexScammer's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm really looking to opening all the new DC kits which are happily sitting on my shelf when I finish my next animation. Thanks for the review. This set looks awesome -
Awesome looking set and awesome review as well, thanks for posting up.! I was really unsure about the way R2's legs hang out the bottom of the ship but I actually think TLG have done a really good job there in keeping with the sleekness of the design. This will probably be the only set I get from the Jan' Star Wars wave as this is one ship I've wanted to get since missing out on the original one back in the day
-
You're right though, the figures are more adult orientated so probably not something TLG would go for.

Lego may see warehouses full of Hogwarts Castles and think these could be easily recycled to make Wayne Manor of the X-Mansion. I'd well like a Gotham Rooftop scene. So far though I think TLG have to be praised for the good quality of the sets so far. Mine all arrived just before the new year and the details are great (especially the mini-figs). It's set up for some great future sets (anything based on Arkham City and Asylum would please me). Regarding Marvel, a large scaled Sentinal would look awesome. I think Fantastic Four along with the Silver Surfer would also be ace

I thought they would be up either today or tomorrow. Just placed my order.

I still don't get why Lego have not released the Batman range before xmas in the UK especially as they're out in the States already. These would make them a nice tody profit before the end of the year.

I wonder how long it will be before there are no more yellow lego faces/heads and all have been replaced with the peach range that the licensed ones have. I for one will be sad to see that happen. I dread to think how expensive these sets will be. My wife is going to kill me.!

I happily stand corrected on this as I never thought this would happen. Now off to sell a kidney to afford all this and the Marel/DC range..!
