It's been a while since I saw any 1x2 trans colored bricks but last year in early Spring my local store had loads of trans-green (the old, darker not the new bright trans green) and I had a large cup of it somewhere. Last time I checked (May 4th) they only had 1x2 clear plates, and some 1x1 plates and cheese slopes in trans-red/orange/yellow

'STAR WARS DARK BUCKET' project has reached 10K supporters on
Lego Otaku replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I never voted for this bucket because I knew it'd be shot down without a second thought. I'd love to see it happen but there's a better chance of getting 1 Darth Vader and 99 troopers set from one seller on BL or eBay than from LEGO. -
[rant] LEGO sets missing minifigs
Lego Otaku replied to Lego Otaku's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There's another anti-tamper idea: shrinkwrap with LEGO logo printed on the wrap itself. Even if the crook has access to shrink wrapping machine, it'd be more than worth the cost and effort to replicate fake LEGO printed plastic sheet for re-shrinking pilfered sets. 2 stores just a few miles apart, probably the one same thief or team of thieves. I did notice unusual number of eBay auction selling only new minifig from just one seller in the same city as those pilfered boxes, I just printed them out when I took the set back and spoke with the loss prevention staff. I'll let them figure out what to do with eBay seller. Maybe they'd watch closely, and try to match the timing of newly listed minifig with returned LEGO boxes that showed sign of tampering to get a face of the thief or thieves. -
Bricklink had to rush in newly revamped code to stop hacker from deleting data and messing up the site, and they had not been able to test everything with the rushed codes. So they are fixing the broken code one by one. It is a tedious job that takes a lot of time. Nothing wrong on your end, just wait a few days for them to patch up the rushed conversion from old and poorly protected SQL code to more secure ASP code. If you need to blame someone, feel free to make a voodoo doll called hacker and torture it slowly.

Not to mention putting arm in torso or legs in hip would cause crack because PC do not flex for joining. If there were to be a trans minifig, it'd have to be a one piece non-poseable minifig.

If I were to guess, if LotR/Hobbit does die down after a few years, LEGO may go back to plain old castle theme. Unless there are mini series or spinoff like Clone Wars.

I live about 20 minutes north of Lapeer and about an hour drive from Lapeer to Canada. I don't like Port Huron though, cops there don't like me and go out of their way to pull me over

I saw the picture somewhere but it seemed a bit unfinished so I tried to liven it up a bit and make it more complete. LDD is giving me a bit of trouble, it seems LDD does allow Box Wrench to be used for stud to stud connection but if I re-open the file at later time, they get deleted as illegal. So I had to fix it every time Anyway it uses a few colored parts that do not exists: mainly pearly-gold parts. It also uses a couple parts that don't exists in white, and the feathered piece I used for fairies only came as white with black print. I need to work on Link a bit more, I didn't find a good hat and I can't do Zelda style printed torso or shield as they don't exists in LDD either. Image (Top View) And the LDD file: Download C&C please, what can I do about Link? Anything about that "illegal" part that keeps getting deleted?

Problem starting LDD today
Lego Otaku replied to Kazz's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I don't like to edit HOSTS file on Windows 7. It's a pain in the butt as you have to run the text editor as admin to get edit permission, then edit the file and save it. If you skip or forget the admin permission, you'll get error message when saving the revised HOSTS file. Plus you got to manually re-edit HOSTS to re-enable LDD for updates. I like this method better for Windows 7 if you are using basic Windows firewall. The one below, done once and it's just a few quick steps to toggle it online/offline. 1: open Start 2: type in firewall in the search and hit enter 3: in new Firewall window with advanced security, look at the left side for outbound rules. Click that 4: On right side of the window, click on New Rule... 5: select Program (if not selected) and click next 6: browse to where LDD is stored. Typically in c:/Program Files (x86)/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer and select LDD.EXE, click Open, then click next 7: select Block the connection and click next 8: select all 3 if they aren't selected and click next 9: name (I used LDD) and description (For when online LDD is broken) and click Finish In the future you can come back to Firewall outbound rule pane, and select LDD to enable (block) or disable (allow) as needed. I'd leave it blocked unless there's an update as LDD seems a lot faster offline. The procedure is probably the same for Vista. You'll need to consult the documentation for using other firewalls other than Microsoft's version. -
Yep it's down again, and after the admin locked my original thread from this morning's downtime. Looks like the problem is outside this time. You can bookmark their new twitter channel for tweets: https://twitter.com/#!/BricklinkAdm (no registration needed to view) Glad I pushed out the last of open orders and temp closed my store, no need to get caught up holding an open order or 2 because the site is a bit wonky for one reason or another.

I've gotten the brick separator in set 9474 Helms Deep and 9473 Mines of Moria and it looks like just about every good sized sets will have one for a while. The Shelob set 9470 didn't come with one and the reviews posted elsewhere didn't show 9469 Gandalf or 9471 army set having one. orc forge 9476 may have one but I haven't seen it yet. (note, there is no 9475 for LotR set, the number was used long ago for a different set.)

If the poly bag is under $5, hello easy army! Who will be the first to have an army of 10,000 for Helms Deep? Not me the most I can afford is 1,000 if I sell everything I have in BL store.

The security issue was related to chat room, it was disabled twice and has not been re-enabled yet. There was also some problem last year with odd virus that changed the splash page by inserting codes which, if an unlucky person views it, gets their own splash page infected as well. Most of the HTML feature have been blocked to prevent this. Right now BL is down for maintenance. Should be back up in under 30 minutes.

It's not just forum that is broken. I can't process orders because the order isn't showing correctly. Clicky (over 800pix) The order shows 65 items total, 10 unique items. But it's displaying only 29/3 so it is missing 36 items and 7 unique lots. The price displayed is correct for the full order. Yesterday there were some problem with non-USA stores not showing up at all and some stores were missing inventory. I'm wondering if the database file were corrupted and possibly hard drive going bad? I hope the admins can get BL back up and running.

Depending on firewall software, you can also add LDD to block list. It worked for me as it asked if I wanted to use LDD offline. -
I tried to read BL forum and I was getting error messages: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31' Timeout expired /messageCode.asp, line 130 Seems like the forum got bugged and isn't loading anything anymore.

Picked up 4 #8098 Clone Turbo Tank yesterday as they were on clearance sale for $79 each. I would have bought more clearance sales like these: Clicky (960x1280) and clicky too (same size) All those HP, PotC, and some SW sets on clearance sale for around 30% off. I would have needed more than a thousand dollars to buy all those sales stuff. I only had $250 left until Friday. If you live in or near Grand Blanc, Michigan check the Walmart store off Saginaw for those sales. The few sets not on sale on that rack were all open boxes courtesy of shoplifters.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Lego Otaku replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Is there any chance of a full Star Wars movies made from LEGO? Clone Wars seems to do fine but it's not LEGO, and we did have mini movie of LEGO version with young Hans. -
Great designs. This is how the classic space set might have looked like if they were made today with wide variety of parts as opposed to the production from 30 years ago.

I usually use LDD because it's a bit easier overall. I've tried SR3D and it does have a steep learning curve and it'd be a while before I can use it to make massive MOC regularly but I like the render feature of LDraw files and how it makes the MOC looks 100x better than any screenshot of LDD. Is there a way to import LXF file from LDD into anything LDraw related for rendering purpose?

They're out in Meijer as well. They were putting new sets when I went to check for clearance sale and to get cat food. The price for 9472 is still insanely high at $65 (compare to Toys R Us' $80 but still a lot more than optimal $0.10 per piece target) I still have not seen 9476 anywhere yet and I've been in 4 different Target stores. Either they are slow to put out the new sets or they are selling out real fast.

[rant] LEGO sets missing minifigs
Lego Otaku replied to Lego Otaku's topic in General LEGO Discussion
All sets with missing parts were from 2 stores within a few miles apart so it is probably 1 person doing it. As for lifting finger print, this is probably not practical as there's no way of knowing how many people handled the box or the bags inside not counting the thief. I wonder if I checked eBay for a seller who sells out of the city where the missing pieces are from, maybe I could figure out which one is the thief? The city has only about 5,000 residents so there can't be many LEGO thiefs.
