[MOC] S.C.O.U.T. - a Steampunk Reconnaissance Vessel
legopiratelord replied to draganb's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Looks totally awesome, would love to take that ship on some adventures. -
Thanks for the kind words and advice everyone. I'm looking foward to using Bricklink, but I'm currently living in Japan with plans to return to Amertica in a few months. So I'm planning on waiting until I won't have to use international shipping. Also I'm trying not to aquire too much stuff that I'll have to ship back. But it's really hard with all the new, awesome sets comming out.

Loving the polar exhibition! Especially the weather balloon and the icebreaker challenge. Looking forward to the spring update.

Yes, I think it should be lower too, but it's not really possible with the current connection. Though with the technic connection, I should be able to lower it. I'm looking for a set with a nice selection of useful technic pieces and axels right now.

Oh nice, that's a very cool one. Yes once I get the technic pieces I'd like to try rebuilding a sturdier version with a conection similar to this one. Thanks for the link.

I was recently drawn out of my dark age with the wonderful new Arctic sets and this is one of the first MOCs I've done since I was in high school. I would have liked to make a few different color/part choices, but you gotta work with what you have, and right now I don't have much. But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out overall. C&C welcome. The initial inspiration to do an Arctic motorcycle came from this picture from Popular Science: After I put this together, I Googled Lego sidecars and discovered that TLG did a motorcycle and sidecar set in the Indiana Jones line (7620). They use a much sturdier link to keep the motorcycle and sidecar together and I might try to make another model using their conection method as this one is pretty weak. But for now I don't have the pieces. It can survive a little bit of pushing, but certainly won't hold up to much play involving kids. Edit: figured out how to post pics from Flickr

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
legopiratelord replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well there is a pterodactyl in this shot as well. We also saw a D-rex and a Coelophysis in the leaked molds. And a triceratops also seems likely as they still have the mold from the recent Dino theme.- 1,412 replies

Great Animation! Can't wait to see more, I really hope it's a full series the world looks full of excitement. Also, I can't wait to get my hands on the pegasus chariot that was in the teaser. That will almost certainly be in the second wave, right!?

Yeah, the portal to other worlds create all kinds of story potential! Dark forces invading Heartlake City sounds fantasticaly fun. Or maybe the return portal takes them to yet another world full of adventure, like Quantum Leap or Stargate. Or maybe Johny Baker and Emily fall in love and they both return to Emily's world to open up an Elvish bakery. Loving the potential of this line.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
legopiratelord replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow, can't wait to get the Brainiac Attack set, Supergirl looks great and I'm loving that ship. Really, I wish I could get all of the figs from this wave, but I'll probably only be able to afford to pick up the Braniac and Gorila Grodd sets. I sure hope that someday they'll come out with a DC Lego CMF series. -
Disney Princess 2015 Rumors and Discussion
legopiratelord replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Love the sword wielding Jasmine pic! Reminds me of when she was allowed to take more active roles in the animated series, like this episode. And I'd love to try and make a custom Scourge minidoll to look like this, but then who would she have adventures with? I'm pretty conflicted about this set. The Jasmine minidoll looks great, and I'm happy to have a magic carpet, but everything else about this set is dissappointing. Her 'castle' and surrounding scenery is very mediocre. What exactly is she supposed to do besides eat turkey legs and fall into a fountain? I guess she can fly up high to admire the tiny part of her castle left standing after an apparently devastating earthquake destroyed Agrabah and everyone in it. If only this set would have come with Aladdin....argh! I'm so close to having all the main characters from Aladdin. This set comes with Jasmine and Carpet, the Genie from CMF series 6 pretty much IS Genie from Aladdin, and any of the pirate monkeys make a very servicable Abu. Now I just need the person the movie is actually named after. Is anyone else bothered that there are no males in the 2015 line? Apparently it's just women and their animal / magical snowmen companions. It feels like such a step down from last year when we got Prince Eric,Prince Charming, and Flynn Rider. I guess the larger sets that the guys came with didn't sell as well? I don't know, I've given up trying to understand what Lego is doing with the Disney Princess line. I know I certainly wouldn't have released 2 Duplo and 3 System sets based on The Little Mermaid in the same time frame it took to release just 1 system Frozen set, I would have done the reverse. Anyway, it's clear I'm not Lego's imagined audience for this line. I grew up when these were all just Disney movies rather than part of the Princess Industrial Complex. -
I'm loving those names, except for poor Johnny Baker. Surely there's a more imaginative name for him. Hotcross John, Ferrez Breadstone, Kallen Doughspree, thesee are just off the top of my head. Also, I'd love to see an antogonist (that's not an angry, acorn hurling squirel) in future waves! It doesn't have to be a dark and angry menace, but maybe just a faction that is afraid of more strangers coming through the portal and wants to close it or something.

Disney Princess 2015 Rumors and Discussion

Ok, here's what I found on reddit. Go to this website: http://brickseek.com/sets/target_inventory and enter your zipcode and the DCPI number, which the OP said was: 086-14-2474 and it will tell you if any of the stores near you have any in stock. I tried searching near my parents and none of the stores near them had any in stock. Hopefully if you keep checking, some may pop up in a store near you. Good luck! -
Disney Princess 2015 Rumors and Discussion
legopiratelord replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Here's an article speculating about it: http://www.bricksandbloks.com/lego-frozen-elsas-castle-41062-set-released-stores/ It was most likely either Toys-R-Us or a physical Lego store who ignored the street date, but I'm sure other stores will be dropping it as soon as they get it as well. If you check the Lego subreddit, there is a post on there talking about how to search which Target stores have it in stock, I think. I'd link to it, but Reddit is blocked at my work computer so I'll attach a link later if no one else does. -
I agree with rodizirobs, it's probably a line with two or three waves planned, and depending on sales, they can either expand it further or cancel it early if they want. If we look at the minifig lines, there are really only two evergreen properties: City, which is filled by Heartlake City in the minidoll line, and Star Wars, which is kind of a special case. So this is probably a ninjago equivalent. I am very excited by this attempt from lego to expand the minidoll line beyond the shopping malls, beauty parlors, and juice bars of Heartlake city into more imaginative, adventurous teritory. I hope the success of Elves leads to many more minidoll themes that are already popular in the minifig lines. Can you imagine minidoll space, historical, and creator equivalents?

Wonderful scene, I love the edges just spilling out. And I love the color of those leaves, are they official lego or 3rd party? I'd like to get some.

These look gorgeous! I'll definetly be picking up the ship and workshop. If my wallet can afford it, I might pick up the treetop hideaway. Anyone else notice the giant portal on top of a smoke shrouded mountain in the background for all the box art? Even the treehouse, which comes with a portal of it's own, shows it in the background. I'm guessing this is the portal Emily needs to return to her world, and maybe the treetop portal was a one-way portal that brought her here? I wonder if there are plans for it to appear in a wave 2 of if it's just a part of the background lore.

What custom minifigure do you desire?
legopiratelord replied to LuckyTheySay's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I would LOVE a Batman Beyond range, especially the Justice League Beyond. My favorites are probably Superman Beyond (White S and starting to grey bottom hair), Warhammer (This might be hard since you'd need new molds for the wings and helmet), Aquagirl, and little kid monk Green Lantern. Ten/Melanie Walker (with her own flying poker card would be great), Super old Bruce (accompanied by Ace the bathound?), eypatch Dick Greyson (from the Batman Beyond comics) and Catgirl Beyond (also from the comics) would be other favorites. I would jump on those. There are soooo many other great characters from the TV show and comic sequel as well. If lego did a Batman Beyond line, I'd give them all my money. I also second (or fifth or sixth by now?) the need for armored females. Steampunk seems like another area that not many people are doing, maybe the demand is too small compared to fantasy, modern day warfare, and the less mainstream superheroes, which is what most customizers seem to focus on. -

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

The fake website for the company that owns and operates the Jurrassic World themepark mentions that InGen is doing some work in Siberia digging out wolly mammoths. Here's the quote: So I wonder if there will be a portion of the movie that takes place in Siberia, or even better an 'Ice Age' portion of the park with wolly mamoths, saber-toothed tigers, and dire wolves, and that is the reason we've seen a white D-rex, because he blending in with the snowy environment. I'd LOVE to see some Lego wolly mammoths.- 1,412 replies

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
legopiratelord replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
I missed the last round of dinos but loved the molds, so I'm super excited to get my hands on some dinosaurs at a more reasonable price. I love the Jurrassic Park franchise as well, so I imagine I'll be picking up quite a few of these. I do hope they release a second wave that covers the original trilogy also.- 1,412 replies
