    The bumping was a problem, but I used a tank like sustention system on the train wheels to eliminate the bumps, it is on 2 sets of offset parallel tracks to reduce the frequency of more then one wheel going on a bump at once

    I just finished making a $0 budget Lego film, I built everything freehand and no plan or instructions. My goal was to show that effective film does not need large amounts of expensive equipment! The camera ran on a motorized Lego dolly at around 1 stud every 3 minutes, The camera is a fake rip-off GoPro that i found in a tip and fixed. The filming took around 3 months as i had to balance it with school work, i am fairly happy with the overall product though. What could be done better and would be an interesting next video?

    I use the old 9v train dial with an old style brick wire to new style adaptor (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=8886-1), but a full new system and control panel would be amazing!

    You could use a pulley, have it go from the bottom of the gate to the to the top of what the gate is held in, do this to both sides to make the gate open equally, the other option is to have a shaft going across the frame that is holding in the gate and have a gear connecting to the rack and pinion, then you can have your motor assembly at the side and only a small shaft above the gate

    there's a couple of ways i use mine, i found an old style lego 9V connector to mindstorms which made testing Mindstorms creations very handy!
