Tow Truck XL
Therion replied to dikkie klijn's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Some more building pictures. Took a while to get all the wires and hoses optimized, and making sure everything is working ok before closing up the body. A few more pics on my brickshelf, as soon as it's public... -

Not too much, about 200 euros for 1200 missing parts (including some expensive electrical extension wires and lights). -

I spend last weekend gathering all the pieces. Next weekend I can start building this beast! -

Maybe it's an idea to have a seperate 'my missing parts'-list? That way, you can keep all the official sets, and all the parts you have listed in this 'missing parts'-list are subtracted from the total parts-collection when doing calculations etc? -

I did some guess-work by looking at the instructions: black hoses: 2x 2L, 4L, 4x 6L, 8L, 9L, 12L, 15L, 20L, 30L, 34L, 50L, 60L, total = 270L (216cm) blue hoses: 2x 2L, 2x 5L, 6L, 12L, total = 32L (26cm) lbg hoses: 2x 3L, 4L, 8L, 32L, total = 50L (40cm) Please note that I might be a little off sometimes. I'll post a more accurate list after building. You can buy cheap hoses here: www.blokbricks.com -

I haven't even started yet... I'm afraid I won't have time until the first week of october edit: I don't know if someone else noticed this, but there are quite a few differences between the partslist on Rebrickable and the one at the end of the instructions. 7 parts have different partcounts, and 2 parts are missing entirely at Rebrickable (3x string and 3x rigid hose). I guess I'll know for sure what's what when I start building... can't wait! -

Blue. It didn't matter much in terms of missing parts (blue, black or red), so I went for the easiest option -

10 meters! Anyway, I have ordered all my missing parts now I hope I have enough hoses laying around here... -

I'm missing 11.7% 4.6% I noticed that the lengths of the pneumatic hoses are not mentioned in the instructions, does anybody know what lengths are needed? -

ah, that's why that pin was missing! I just assumed you 'forgot' to put a normal pin there. I totally missed it when looking at the photos... -

Take a look at the BOM at the end of my instructions, that's complete. Also it has the correct colors of all the parts, some of the parts were in the wrong color in the original LDD-file (mostly pins/axles). -

I tried to convert to ldraw too, but I gave it up soon after... many parts were missing or rotated. So I used the same method as Kronos to build it. I did make simple instructions using LDD-screenshots if you're interested. -

Great model Lipko! I just finished building it myself: More pictures on my brickshelf page. -

Happy building! I'm the one who made both the instructions for Nathanaels GT-Car and Ninja Convertible. -
I built Jovels model last weekend, but I had a problem with putting the wheels on. The rear wheels are meant to go on an axle, but I couldn't get the axles to go through the wheels. After inspecting them, I found that in 3 of the 4 wheels, there were some plastic thingies blocking the axles to go entirely through. I can get them in by aprox. 1 stud from both ends just fine, but no further than that. Did anyone notice this too?

I was wondering why you're using the % of parts missing when searching for sets/mocs to build. For example, when I have 99% of a 2000 piece set (20 parts missing), this set is showed before a set with say 500 pieces where I have only 98% of the parts (10 parts missing). Why not order the list on the actual number of parts missing? Doesn't that make more sense? -
Instructions are ready! I must say it was a real challenge You can download them here (63mb) I've made a few changes to Nathanaels original GT-Car, but nothing major. It's still 99% original, and still contains only parts from sets 8458 and 8466. I've used a few green panels, added lower sideskirts, and the front hood is a little different. Happy building!
