Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree the theme is not on the edge of extinction, but the viability of the movie-based sets is tied to the success of the movies. If the movies do not start resonating more with audiences then we could see more times where Lego reduces the number of sets or potentially skips making playset based on the movie - e.g. reduction or lack of more tie-in playsets released alongside the movie. Ant-Man 3 only had the buildable figure, Captain Marvel 2 only had the spaceship set, Deadpool 3 is likely getting skipped due to content reasons and Captain America 4 is seemingly only getting one main set with the others sets buildable figures or brickheadz - which hint more to Lego trying to branch out of the playsets OR tailoring those specifically to adult collectors with the 'final battle' style sets or D2C's - which may explain the insane prices of some sets. -

I'd imagine he gets one eventually, they can probably just bundle him with a buildable Dormammu and Doctor Strange and it'd sell. Seems like everything is stickers... so it's an easy pass from me, can probably make my own from the pieces I already have. -

That price is horrific, everything better be printed, no stickers for that price right? It's even worse when you see the photo on the back of the box is from Captain America: The Winter Soldier depicting three of the Helicarriers, Lego certainly wants to encourage people to replicate that by buying more copies. Set itself looks good visually, but at the same time kinda gives off the vibe of being a GWP for a different set. I'm leaning towards us getting a remake of the D2C Helicarrier soon as the previous D2C is nearly 10 years old at this point and could definitely be improved with a remake. Update time: Likely the last update for a little while as we seemingly know everything till October'ish Updated List: They seem to be revisiting films from around 9 years ago, presumably to have them on shelves for the 10th anniversaries, with the return to AoU (2015) sets and the rumored Civil War (2016) set/sets next year, I'd imagine Ant-Man would be sorta covered by Civil War but perhaps one set would be nice. I'd hope they revisit Doctor Strange (2016) to give us Kaecilius (Perhaps with a upper torso version of Dormammu). Will be interesting to hear what the slate of films is shifting to later in the year, as we could easily wind up with them revisiting Infinity War in 2027 alongside Avengers 6 if the 9 year revisits of legacy films continue. -

Unless I'm mistaken the majority of the set releases were pushed back a month in some odd decision by Lego meaning rather than getting the bulk of the sets in July and a few in August, we're primarily getting the bulk of the sets in August. Leak season could be impacted if the bulk of 2025 sets are intended for an August release and it's likely that we'll have at least four tie-in movie sets next year. I'd imagine we get a bit of information about Winter/Early 2025 sets but the delaying of films probably means that tie-in sets got pushed back, so it might be a bit of a slow start to 2025 - but should pick up in April/May (April/May Thunderbolts sets, July Fantastic Four sets, August Infinity Saga sets) -

The series devotes a scene to exploring the idea that Sam's family has financial difficulty and they are helped through the notion of community coming together. This should have been reflected in the solution to the displacement caused by the snap/blip, Sam becoming a figurehead of bringing communities and people together. Sadly we did not get that. Oscorp in the comics is just a skyscraper with Oscorp on it, so that might be a factor as to why they'd choose something else as a basis. It'd be neat in the idea that you could have rooms devoted to Otto Octavius, Norman Osborn's lab, perhaps the Spider room from TASM or some offices though. My speculation would be: Thunderbolts set 1 Thunderbolts set 2 Fantastic Four set 1 Fantastic Four set 2 Ghost Spider Mech Thor Mech (Featuring a comic-inspired Thor with helmet) Doctor Octopus construction figure X-Men 97 Sentinel Battle (Similar to the Surtur set. Featuring a Brick-built Sentinel, Wolverine, Colossus, and Jean Grey) D2C Helicarrier (Around 4500 pieces, Nick Fury, Phil Coulson and Maria Hill) Infinity Saga: Civil War Airport Battle (Similar style to the AoU assemble set. Airport jet bridge build. Featuring Iron Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, Vision, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch & Ant-Man and an Ant-Man Microfig) Infinity Saga: Civil War Giant-Man attack! (Buildable Giant-Man. Featuring War Machine, Spider-man, Hawkeye and Falcon) Infinity Saga: AoU: Avengers Vs Ultimate Ultron (Similar style to the Spider-man final battle set. Church-like structure as the build. Featuring Iron Man, Thor, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Ultimate Ultron, 3 x Blue-eyed Ultron Drone and 1 x Red-eyed Ultron Drone) Infinity Saga: AoU: Hulkbuster Battle (Features a buildable Hulkbuster that scales with Big-Fig Hulk, Iron Man, Big-Fig Hulk, Bruce Banner and Ultron Prime) Infinity Saga: AoU: Ultron Battle Pack (Quicksilver, 2 x Blue-eyed Ultron Drone and Hawkeye) CMF Series 3: (Featuring 12 characters: Infinity Ultron. Kahhori, The Watcher, Agatha Harkness, Iron Heart, Daredevil (Yellow Suit), Kingpin (Flower Shirt), 'Eyes Of Wakanda' Character, Spider-man (Homecoming/YFNS suit), Baron Zemo (TF&TWS version with spare unmasked head/hair), Zombie Scarlet Witch and Zombie-hunter Shang Chi) I believe so, 2025 should hopefully be more packed given film tie-in sets. Still waiting to see the midi-scale Helicarrier, but seeing the other midi-scale sets has me a bit nervous for how it'll look. -

No Sabertooth? He was in the preliminary version of the set? Not sure why they'd drop him. -

Madame Web was going to be a prequel to the Andrew Garfield TASM universe with Venom 3 also made with that mindset - despite this not really working from a logical standpoint due to conflicting continuities, time periods, etc... I think a lot of the sets conceptually were a hit and a miss, an AoU wave without Quicksilver, Ultron, etc... Couple this with massive dry periods without any leaks or information and when we do it comes with the unfortunate news of high prices and delays to sets people were curious about. Also factor in the general lack of Marvel media this year and people simply are not checking for Lego products based on anything Marvel related, so are'nt checking the forums. I'm waiting on the smaller helicarrier reveal but not the most optimistic after seeing the other smaller scale sets, but other than that there's not much to do other than wait. We almost certainly won't get Deadpool 3 sets so there's not much we can speculate about relating to Lego with that film and I doubt they'll break the lack of sets for the Sony Cinematic Universe with Venom 3 or Kraven. -

The box art is interesting. Cannot make out all the characters but a few are those you'd kinda expect to see such as Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Tony Stark, Hulk, Spider-man, Rocket Raccoon... but then there's the interesting one: Agent Venom. I wonder if they are planning to give us a figure of him and are teasing that. Hopefully we see the midiscale Helicarrier soon. -

X-Men is in the early stages of development. Rumours hint to it being 'X-Force' but with a 'predominantly female cast'. Original planned release for Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars was May 2025 and November 2025 respectively, so they would definitely be willing to do so, especially for the 20th anniversary of the MCU in 2028. Secret Wars is also likely getting split into two films given they trademarked 'Eternity Wars' and still have the trademark for 'Avengers Forever'. Avengers Forever being the culmination of the multiverse and Kang storyline in the comics and an appropriate title before we get a reboot. All the talk at the moment is just to keep conversation flowing during a drought of content, we'll get official announcements likely at the end of the year and I think we should expect a lot of things to be delayed. Which is probably for the best as flooding people with so many films right after promising to reduce the quantity and focus on quality would be really silly. Could definitely see them do a Sentinel Set around the Winter Wave, would probably sell well paired with the X-Men Mansion. -

It's weird we've seen some of the August sets but others are still unrevealed such as the Brickheadz, 4+ Iron Man set and the Midiscale Helicarrier. Updated List: I think it's just posturing until they announce delays later this year after they've had time to view the financial response to Deadpool 3. I cannot see five MCU films in 2025 being a wise idea: Captain America 4, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Blade and Spider-man 4 seems way too much. Especially in regards to Lego sets, no way Lego would be able to handle that level of output alongside whatever they already have planned for anniversary sets for Avengers AoU. I cannot see them giving us all the required figures on the budget that the theme has, even if we know Captain America 4 is seemingly only getting a single set and Blade could be skipped. I'd imagine it'll shift to three a year: 2025: Captain America 4, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four 2026: Blade, Spider-man 4, Armour Wars 2027: Avengers Dynasty, Shang Chi 2, Doctor Strange 3 2028: X-Men, Avengers Secret Wars, Avengers Forever -

I'd expect it to be Magneto, Emma Frost, Sabertooth, Cyclops, Prof X, Mystique, Wolverine, Beast and Storm - as per the original leak. If they throw in a 10th figure, I'd imagine it'd be Toad. That way you have the original Brotherhood of Mutants from X-Men (Magneto, Sabertooth, Mystique and Toad) -

Just good news all around honestly, FalconFan1414 has also returned from the dead which is great. Leviathan upscale is neat Groot continues to look demonic, but the sunglass look works well Surtur looks a little weird admittedly Iron Legion set has a good build Forest battle seems a bit crowded/muddled Milano externally looks amazing need to see the interior Have to wait for better images/piece stuff/instructions before deciding on them. Milano is tempting I guess. -

71818 Tournament Battle Arena seems to have some blood-red claw pieces, wondering if we'll get a re-use for Carnage sometime. When the film was pushed back it was likely too late to delay, places like McDonalds may produce this far in advance because it's packaged in meals that young individuals might try and devour so they can't really afford to just sit on the product for nearly a year. I'd love for them to revisit the Sony films and the Fox films. A revamped Doc Ock's Hideout would be my dream set. Still surprised no Sentinel for the X-Men sets, maybe that'll be in 2025. -

Yeah, tis unfortunately why we might not see them till a bit later this year. It damages the hype cycle a lot sadly. We could still see something as there's supposedly some of the 4+ sets scheduled for earlier release if I remember correctly along with a Brickheadz and perhaps some of the August sets going up for early pre-order? -

We should hopefully, fingers crossed, see some Marvel sets in the coming week. Though unsure which, if any, are releasing in June/July as most the releases seem to be scheduled for August. This news/content drought has been a long one but hopefully it's over soon. As far as I can tell it seems to be people explaining their own viewpoint to explain what they would like to see from Lego in the future. It's not empty negativity and it seemed relevant to their viewpoint on what would be adapted and why. It's an opinion they are mentioning to explain their desires for sets and why (along with other information) it is unlikely Lego would focus on such adaptations. Though naturally it's now starting to venture more into just discussing the reasoning as opposed to its connection with Lego. At its core, an established and popular property or a newly released mass publically available media is going to be more likely to get sets than something locked behind a streaming service - and that's before factoring in the potential for the franchise as a whole to be losing interest along with the factors of Lego having a budget for the wave and likely prioritizing other aspects they know will sell. If they ever want to go back and revisit streaming service shows they can, but I would'nt be surprised if they lack concept art or frankly are choosing not to adapt concept art of anything other than the characters - with Captain Carter's set being the only exception currently. -

Gold Iron Man / Mark 21 Iron Man (Fits for the 20th anniversary/Iron Man 3) Winter Soldier Captain America with arm/leg print (Captain America 2) Thor with his chainmail arms/legs from either (Thor 1 or Thor 2) Hawkeye as Ronin (Avengers Endgame) Black Widow (The Black/Gray/Silver/Gold suit from Black Widow) The only one that would be difficult to justify would be a Bruce Banner figure, though they could do the mid-transformation version and give more detailing to the pants and muscles. -

I'm imagining that it's going to be a bit of a mess from 2027-2029 regarding sets as we could get a situation like the Endgame sets or NWH where they did not provide Lego with enough concept art resulting in an incomplete or innacurate wave of sets followed by later accurate sets. We also have the 10th anniversary of Avengers Infinity War & Avengers Endgame, 20th anniversary of the MCU and the first Iron Man film and 15th anniversary of Avengers. I would be very surpised if they don't just spam us with Avengers sets and legacy sets over that time period so an Avengers CMF is not outside the realm of possibility for around 2028. -

If they got the rights to using her likeness/the character then they could arguably just put her in the CMF series. This would be an extremely popular figure as you mentioned given the passionate fanbase, so would skyrocket the sales of the CMF series which might help considering CMF Series 3 if it does happen is likely going to be filled with characters from Disney+ that may not have a big draw. -

I'd agree, but I imagine that Lego's justification for dioramas is that it's targetting the Star Wars audience that grew up with the live action movies from around 1977 - 1983. The MCU doesn't have that amount of time yet so their experiments with older-focused products have been the busts and giant vehicles/robots. I suspect the 'Final Battle' sets are the first venture into the dioramas, but they are still trying to balance play with those. Personally the Japanese Garden battle from Iron Man 2 would be a must buy if they ever made it. -

The Daily Bugle would likely be phased out at the end of 2025 as it would have been around 4 years at that point, at a push it sticks around till 2026 but that seems unlikely. We're already seeing Lego sell the Daily Bugle, Avengers Tower, Barad Dur and I'm still leaning to a remake of the Helicarrier for 2025, would work well for the 10th anniversary of Avengers: Age Of Ultron as it appeared right at the end. Then they could include some Age of Ultron figures from that scene such as Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Maria Hill and War Machine. Honestly the product leak made it look more like a stretched version of TLBM Arkham Asylum just with a seperate gate at the front. Primarily a facade as opposed to a modular. I could see them doing something like this in 2028 and beyond, depending where the MCU goes. As by that point it'll have been 20 years and if the original phase 1-3 are still held in fairly high regard they'll probably keep revisiting them. I imagine they'd want an older MCU audience in order to justify more sets focused on display as opposed to play. -

According to mtdbricks, the Surtur set is the opening battle. Just Thor and a Fire Demon along with a buildable Surtur. 245 pieces so probaby going to be like Steppenwolf or maybe Zurg. Kinda expected, hope Surtur looks good and maybe we'll be lucky and they'll focus on figure accuracy. I can kinda understand the forest sets, it's a unique location and wasn't really given focus in the AoU wave they released beyond an exclusive set... but it's not the main selling point of the film and Lego should know that. Nobody was freaking out about them fighting in a snowy forest as opposed to them fighting Ultron's in a ruined cathedral structure with a strange metallic device they are guarding. They probably need to communicate and organise the licensing each time they return to a prior film and it's debatable each time as to whether the market will still be there. The only ones that are a certainty are Iron Man and Spider-man, but it's no doubt difficult for them to get licensing to approve that and they'd still want to tie it into new film releases. Taking a look forward, here are my predictions for 2025 at the moment: Sets for the films: Captain America 4, Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four (Blade probably delayed to 2026) Sets for 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' and 'Iron Heart' Legacy sets from Age Of Ultron (10th anniversary) focusing on the latter half of the movie (Quicksilver, Baron Strucker, Ultimate Ultron, Vision, etc...) Legacy set from Captain America franchise to tie in with Captain America 4/Thunderbolts CMF Series 3 featuring figures from Marvel Zombies, Agatha, Eyes of Wakanda, Daredevil: Born Again S1 and Iron Heart Probably a D2C set, maybe a UCS Helicarrier (10th anniversary remake) or a comic styled Baxter building (To tie into Fantastic Four) -

Milano makes sense to increase, GotG is a fairly popular franchise and its the most popular ship. Not sure the 4+ set needed a price increase. Surtur Battle we've not got enough information to really judge, but I don't think it'll be worth $29.99 unless it's another buildable figure for Surtur like with the Sandman NWH set - even then it's one I'll grab on discount for Surtur if it happens. These all make sense given the declined interest in 76291 after the reveal it's focused on the AoU: Forest scene. Dancing Potted Groot is just another Groot so maybe they expect less interest. Avengers Vs Loki I'm guessing at this point it'll be mostly recycled figures people have already. I'd argue the Iron Legion Battle Pack is still overpriced and will be aiming to get it for cheaper than that, if the figures appeal (or bricklink them) Same, my hope is for comic-inspired sets at this point. Other than Human Torch and maybe Thing I would'nt want figures of the other film versions of these characters. I'm after legacy and comic inspired (or stuff that could pass for comic inspired) at this point. Fingers crossed 2025 will give us 10th anniversary Age Of Ultron sets based on the latter half of the film to occupy my collecting. Lego really need to prioritize legacy sets at this point if they want to secure sales. -

Every other revealed set of which we had a preliminary set leak in that batch, were all very close to the finalized version. We have'nt seen any massive changes between the prelims and the finalized versions regarding figures or builds, so not expecting it to change here. You can still find the leaked image to look for yourself, but a lot of the character's costumes are different hinting to it being more of a comic-inspired set OR perhaps an old X-Men TAS inspired set as opposed to the new series. The version of Mystique they have for instance is naked on the Lego version while the X-Men series depicts her wearing white clothing. The version of Cyclops they have is more detailed than the version we got in the X-Jet and is wearing a darker uniform. I could see the arguement being that the below are placeholders, but why use the 2014 Wolverine rather than updated 2022 versions they would have had access to at the time? I think Lego plan on revisiting these designs and giving us updated versions of these figures, which were based on the comics. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The original preliminary set had 9 figures and looked to lean more to the comics or movies for inspiration as opposed to the X-Men 97 cartoon: Prof.X Magneto Wolverine Storm Cyclops Beast Mystique Sabertooth Emma Frost I imagine that this line-up will be in the final set, the same as in the preliminary design. This is effectively five heroes Vs four villains currently, so the missing 10th figure could be an additional member of Magneto's brotherhood of mutants. That said, It'd be easy enough for them to re-use Rogue's figure from the X-Jet also. If it is indeed a new figure I'd lean to it being Toad, Pyro or Jean Grey Toad would complete the original Brotherhood of Mutants line-up seen in the 2003 X-Men movie Pyro works as a sort of hero-turned-villain and they could easily play off the fire aspects for playability Jean Grey is extremely popular as a character, notable throught the franchise as a whole I imagine it'll follow the preliminary, so all three of these would be included.
