I'm a little confused - what are you "Woohoo"ing about? It seems like you are cheering that Elves are confirmed....but they aren't.

It's a lot happening within such a small space. The photo could use a little more light (from the front). I like the swish of the blade.
-
Come on now, Wolfe....you can't honestly say you don't understand why this piece would evoke an uneasy/negative response due to the subject matter. The build itself is good from a technical standpoint, but the subject matter is a poor choice.

That's pretty cool. If the hotel is brand new, I'd say the likely explanation for the Kingdoms/FE troll might have a lot to do with those being the relevant themes at the time of the design phase of this hotel.
-
I'm pretty sure that exact same image has already been brought up earlier in this very thread. If I remember correctly, that's the same promo setup that been used for years, and unrelated to any specific Castle theme.
-
And despite all the differences in design choices, they are ALL still aimed at children. Some Castle themes have been more enjoyed by adults than others, but that doesn't change the fact they are still designed for kids. Even Lord of the Rings, as your example of "adult" design, is design intended for children. Adults like to complain about certain themes more than others...but at their core, adults aren't the intended audience for any Castle theme (or LotR).
-
I don't believe any Castle theme has ever really been "adult-oriented", but that hasn't stopped many of them from being quite popular with adults and children alike.
-
Pretty strange looking, but I like it. It's a fun idea. I'd like to see more dungeon concepts.

So....enough talk about LotR and Hobbit in this thread (there's threads for that). Let's keep it focused on Castle, purdy please.

For what it's worth, BrickJagger...you were probably one of the most guilty people of this, to be honest. Earlier in this thread you kept insisting everybody get out to their local Lego stores and ask for more info to help validate your claim. Again...I will say that I feel positive that you aren't just BS'ing everyone here. However, there still isn't any official confirmation of it. Just saying you have "official" confirmation without being able to publicly prove it (from someone who has yet to officially be proven right) isn't worth much (sorry, that's just logic). If all this stuff is officially and publicly proven...you will earn some notoriety. I find it a little odd that you started the rumor in the first place, and weren't shy about telling what details you had, and now you say you've got officially confirmation of it, but can't say anything about it.
-
It wouldn't be "Castle" then.

Looks nice. It's just the angle of the pics. If you look at the 2nd pic, you can see they are even.

I have to disagree. The shield is about the only similarity between the two factions. Once you get passed the shield, Black Knights and Dragon Masters were quite different, from a visual standpoint. Add to that, they existed at THE SAME TIME as opposing factions, and that pretty much cements that they are indeed 2 different factions.

What makes colors fade in fabric? Traditionally wear and tear via sunlight and washing. Neither leadlights/stained glass or paintings are subject to washing under the same circumstances as fabrics. Sunlight doesn't affect leadlights/stained glass the same way as fabric because the dyes have different chemical properties when mixed with glass that protect them much more. Sunlight doesn't affect paintings/cathedrals because those are almost always out of direct sunlight. Put a painting outside in the sunlight for any extended period of time and the colors will start to wash out. Medieval Heraldry does have some vibrant colors. The biggest offense with KK2, in my opinion, is the sheer volume of color that's used on them. You may find lots of color in Classic Castle as well, but I almost see that as a limitation of Castle being in it's early stages, rather than strictly due to design choices. I think the fact that in KK2 the entire figure is flooded with vibrant color is what takes it beyond authentic and goes to comical proportions.

My comment about them looking more like Power Rangers than traditional medieval knights was a response to these sorts of comments in this thread:
-
KK2 has never reminded me of traditional medieval heraldry. When I look at KK2, I see Power Rangers more than anything.

While I could be interested in a new Viking theme eventually. I don't want to seem it next. I've been away from Lego Castle for almost 20 years, and I'm anxious to get back in with some new sets...I don't want those new sets to be non-castle. If I found out the next theme was Vikings, I can confidently say I would walk away again, with any enthusiasm and excitement I had for getting back into Castle Lego just killed... Some people might suggest there are 20 years worth of sets I could buy, so "new" sets shouldn't be an issue...I'm not interested in buying a bunch of sets i missed. Lego sets are quite expensive in the first place, and the after market is much worse...im not interested in paying those sorts of prices for out of production sets. I'm only interested in what they will make moving forward.

Castle sets: Part-packs, fig-packs or both?
thetang22 replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd say it comes down to a set by set basis. Some sets you can look at and say it's a great overall value. Other sets you look at and think it has great minifigs but a lackluster build, or vice versa. For those sets, it just has to be determined if the quality of the favored parts make up for the lackluster portion. -
For what it's worth, I personally don't doubt you. I just think that as the thread went on, you were getting a little too eager to be right, and didn't care to wait for official evidence to validate your claim. At this point, we just wait for more info to trickle in, and hope for something of substance. In the meantime, it's kind of a wishlist type thread between bits of substance.

Why do you take such offense to this, Brickjagger? Nobody is saying "you don't know anything"...what they are saying is "you aren't credible.......yet". Even you state that everybody has to start somewhere. Do you think all of the people on here who are considered credible had immediate positive reception when they first made claims that weren't yet proven? I seriously doubt it. The unfortunate part to your stance is that you are going out of your way to treat this as though it's already officially proven, and getting frustrated that people are questioning it. Let's be clear....despite how many sources say so, Fantasy Era 2 in 2016 is NOT official or proven at this point in time. It may come to be, and if that ends up being so, you will earn some credibility like you are seeking. Until then....you will have to acknowledge that people are taking this with a grain of salt until it comes to pass. The more you try to insist this is a guarantee, the more people are going to resist until official proof. That is just the way it is.

I agree, I think it makes fine sense as is. Crusaders/Lion Knights are the same faction. Lots of factions have more than 1 torso design.
-
I'm pretty sure the skepticism has more to do with the source(s), and less to do with the actual possibility of getting a new line. As mentioned before, getting people on a forum to claim "I heard a guy say...." is the sort of thing you have to take with a grain of salt. The fact that multiple people are admitting comparable things adds some credibility to the claim, but doesn't prove it's true. The only thing that makes it true is an official announcement or product leaks.
-
I agree with this to an extent. It is my favorite era as well, but it is missing a few things that were quite notable from later eras: Non-human factions: The classic era had lots of factions, but they were ALL human. The inclusion of things like Dwarves, Orcs, Undead from Fantasy is something that brought a LOT of character to Lego Castle. There were a couple of ghosts, but usually only 1 per set....never enough to be considered an "Undead" faction Large Monsters: They basically had the dragon (which came on the tale end of it with Dragon Masters). While it was pretty cool at the time, that being the sole big monster pales in comparison to some of the stuff we've seen Lego introduce in more recent years (not necessarily all in Castle themes).

I like the splash of water. Not sure if you are making a joke or don't understand the meaning of the scene name. The vegans in the scene are the soldiers in the back. I apologize if my correction is unnecessary. My wife has been vegan for almost 2 years now, and I've seen a LOT of snarky jokes made about the lifestyle in that time, and most of the time those jokes are fueled by ignorance about a vegan diet.

A compelling little scene. Comments/Criticisms: - I like the perspective and depth of field you achieved in your second photograph. - The 2 photos both have very similar viewpoints, so feel a little redundant. I'd rather see one of them from the viewpoint of the guards looking up. The second photo is the stronger of the 2 you've attached - I'm not keen on a solid blue waterfall. A lot of advancements in water techniques have happened in recent years, with using translucent layered bricks to give a sense of depth. I think the waterfall here could really benefit from that. - I do like that the waterfall is graduated, rather than a stiff dropoff. It gives a rougher look to it that way, as though the water is hitting lots of rocks on the way down.
