The Barbarians?

The blue alien (who is orange according to some sources) is Lupita's character. With the various stories/leaks in mind it's safe to say she won't be in this set (which takes place on a different planet and before she's introduced). I do hope she's in a different set tho'!

My son Lucas (almost 4 years old, and yes....his name isn't a coincidence) got me a B-day present: the Arc-170 microfighter!
-
correct! Its DAVID BOWIE (my favorite singer) as Pontius Pilate.
-
Nope. A few hints: -the actor in the photo is a very famous singer. Everyone has heard of him. In this movie, he isn't the main character though. -The movie is based on a very, very famous story. An understatement! Some even say the story the movie is based on really happened! -The movie was made after Ben Hur, but before Gladiator.

How will Lego handle Episode VIII, IX and Spin-Offs?

thnx. And yes: something went wrong with the title and I couldnt change it (?). Good point. It's more likely the 2017 winter wave will be in March instead of January. I've edited my first post. -
Agreed. But: -The movies are made by different teams (which will keep things fresh I think) -I was there in the 80's and 90's.....After I saw ROTJ in the cinema back in 1983 I had to wait 16 (!) years for a new movie. Sure, there were two Ewok movies and 2 cartoon series, but after 1986 there was nothing except the WEG books. After the Zahn novels and Dark Empire there was more and more released, but no new movies until 1999. Is 3 movies in 18 months a lot? I guess so.....but it's better than the dark times (1986-1999).

They're VERY well done!

I started a new thread for thishttp://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106917#entry2165075 :)

@Mods: I think a new thread for this is justified. If not, feel free to merge it with an existing thread. Now that the release dates of Episode VIII (December 16, 2017) and the spinoff Rogue One (May 26, 2016) have been announced I wonder how Lego is going to handle future waves. This year, with Episode VII, they have split the summer wave. Here’s my guess regarding the next couple of years: 2016 Winter wave (January): Rebels, more Episode VII Summer wave (June and September): Like this year, a couple of sets in June (could be anything: OT/PT/ST/Rebels) and in September Rogue One sets. My bet is that we’ll have more sets in June and less than 7 (the number of Episode VII sets this year) in September because it’s a spinoff. 2017 Winter wave (March): nothing but Episode VIII sets Summer wave Could go two ways as it depends on the (not yet announced) release date of the second spinoff. In case the next movie will be released in December 2017: June: more Episode VIII sets + Rebels (?) September: sets from the second spinoff In case the next movie will be released in May 2018: June: more Episode VIII sets + most likely sets from the OT/PT/etc. etc. Fact is that with 3 (!) new Star Wars movies being released in just 18 months PLUS an animated TV series Lego can release nothing but new stuff. I wonder how they will handle this. I also think that we won’t see a lot of OT/PT/CW stuff and that new versions of old sets are out of the question. UCS sets are a different thing; I believe that they will continue to focus on the OT with a few exceptions. (a ST Falcon for instance) I hope my predictions will come true. Sure, there are a few OT sets I want to see (Nebulon-B frigate, Dagobah, Cloud City, Cloud Car) but they can still happen (Cloud City as a UCS?) and the chances they’ll do EU stuff are zero since Disney wiped that out. What I like is that it’s likely we’ll constantly get new, fresh stuff instead of the 645th version of a Snowspeeder. Think about it….new molds, new aliens, new characters……no more the same (although very slightly different) Han Solo in every wave. Downside is that I’ll need a new mortgage. And a new mancave since my current one is getting way too full. What do you guys think?

http://www.starwars.com/news/rogue-one-is-the-first-star-wars-stand-alone-film-rian-johnson-to-write-and-direct-star-wars-episode-viii?linkId=12857863 “Always in motion is the future,” Yoda said. The future of the Star Wars cinematic galaxy, however, is taking shape. This morning at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, across the street from Lucasfilm, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger hosted a shareholder meeting where he announced news regarding the first Star Wars stand-alone movie as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII. Rogue One is the title for the first film in a unique series of big-screen adventures that explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga. Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). The first actress cast is Felicity Jones, who garnered an Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim for her performance in The Theory of Everything. The idea for the story of Rogue One came from John Knoll, an Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic. He will executive produce along with Simon Emanuel (The Dark Knight Rises, Fast & Furious 6) and Jason McGatlin (Tintin, War of the Worlds). Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To (Band of Brothers, The Pacific) are on board to produce and John Swartz (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will co-produce. The film starts shooting this summer in London and is due for release on December 16, 2016. In addition, Iger confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film, which continues the saga after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set for release on May 26, 2017 — forty years and a day after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. Johnson is widely considered one of cinema’s most gifted young filmmakers, having directed the modern sci-fi classic, Looper, as well as Brick and The Brothers Bloom. He was also behind the camera for three episodes of the critically-acclaimed TV series Breaking Bad, including “Ozymandias,” which series creator Vince Gilligan named as the best installment of the show. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman, producer of Looper, Don Jon, Brick, and The Brothers Bloom, are on board to produce. Wait. What? The film starts shooting this summer in London and is due for release on December 16, 2016. In addition, Iger confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film, which continues the saga after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set for release on May 26, 2017 Ok. What? That is correct. Explorers (1985), directed by Joe Dante. 2 of the 3 leads became well known actors: Ethan Hawke (left) and River Phoenix (middle, with the gas mask).
