Just reading through your post again and spotted this pic I just realised I have all the parts for the set on left It was the wheels and the trans orange parts that gave it away Btw i have a couple of those heavy blocks somewhere from a previous lot, yours if you want them, and if i can find them again
-
I also pulled out some really old bricks The red 1x6 closest to camera seems to be a diffirent plastic to the rest slightly opaque and lighter red than the rest, but all have lego on the studs Then there is this small lot no lego markings but seem old and feel like a similar plastic to the lego marked bricks They also have as good a clutch as lego The only markings found are numbers inside each brick but ever brick has a different number. So are they vintage lego or not?? Bearing in mind that not one megablock was found in the whole 15kg box anyone Know? No info on bricklink, that i could find so ditch them or keep them?

I like the fireboat a lot. I much prefer the older ship hulls to the new ones I pulled the newer coast gaurd ship (orange and grey hull) out of a previous lot and now have the large bulky hull getting in the way all the time did that style fireboat come with a weighted keel piece or the heavy 2x4x4 black bricks?

Loving the old shell myself, still a few (2 or 3) vintage shell sets hiding in the lot. I was over the moon to find one classic space slope but even more excited to find the second one. But only one trans yellow slope and no other numbered pieces so not sure what other ships are in there yet Definitely some of the smaller space sets though, But i prefer to get the bigger sets out first. Over 100 vintage windows of all colours and styles so still trying to figure what sets they are all from. When I'm done I'll sell off one large set that should cover the cost of the whole box (€40) meaning the rest is free lego

I also sorted out some nice old grey and blue pieces... Hmmm... I wonder what set could be in there ?? some bits missing but i havn't had a swoosh in over 30 years, so i couldn't resist only missing 3 wing bits 2 stands the tail piece and the red airtanks All bricklinked and on their way I my opinion this set is worth more than i paid for the whole 15kg box, so I'm well happy

I bought a 15kg box of lego last week from a local second hand shop. Here's what I've managed to pull out of it so far. Stills lots left to sort.

I love LLL's on my 4th one right now, great way to fill in the dark ages,my fave is when you bricklink a piece to I.D. it and it only appears in 1 set so no guess work left. And i've just bought another one on the net but spotted a pencil sharpner in the mix, it will be my 4th lot with some kind of blade in it a box cutter blade was the worst so far. thats 4 outof 5 lots What with kids these days? -
I'd like to know HOW? they took it Was there any other damage caused? I've looked at the pics and it looks like you would have to come at it from the top, mission impossible style Oh and Btw....WOW!!! that's a huge build I make museum models as a day job (non lego) and if we make anything that's too large for a "glass" case we usually surround it with 8ft high sheets of clear perspex in a modular alluminium frame

the following pics show the minifigs i've put together from left over parts from my last few bulk buys. Looking up minifig parts on bricklink is a real pain if you dont know where to start so I thaught I'd ask some experts instead can any one spot any complete but incorrectly assembled figs or tell me what bits are needed to match most of the torsos? I also found this in the last lot which i found kind of amusing Btw the white space man snuck into the pic and i only spotted him after i posted the pics Everyone else is a mish mash of bits

Flattening a wrinkled old-style cape
Modelmaker replied to retrotaco's topic in General LEGO Discussion
wet it then put it between 2 heavy pieces of card or wood and stick it under your mattress overnight. Old circus style Ironing Technic P.S. if the missus is slightly larger than you, but it on her side of the bed ...ie. high setting -
Cool just going through the same process myself. I found a 15kg box of vintage lego in a charity shop last week for only €40 and instantly spotted a mint LL918 brick on top off the pile... I swear a little bit of wee came came out.. Of course i bought the box without a second thaught. Just as i was paying, the lady told me they had 5 more boxes like that one in the past week but that was the last one Anyway, so far i have built 9 of the smaller sets from the late 60's and early 70's and found some bricks from the 50's sadly i'm missing most of the grey wedge plate wings for LL918 but found 2 almost mint front wedges with the space logos on them and a very nice red spaceman just missing his air tanks. most recent set identified from the box was the jedi starfighter from 2003 i found Obi wan missing an arm and some parts of his ship. More than 50 years of history in one box and most of the bricks are in amazing condition if you consider they must have seen 3 generations of kids playing with them

Modelmaker replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Btw, i was in the local supermarket the other day, in the toy section, and watched as a kid about 6 or 7 years old rip open bag after bag with his teeth until he found the one he wanted Saved me some time too -

Modelmaker replied to hwangmihee1's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Correct... I drive a Type2 T2 The T is like saying Mark 1 or mark 2. I also have a type 3 and type 4 but they are cars. People that drive type 2 T4's and call them type 4's really bug me -

the banshee is missing her comb when we were kids we were always warned never to pick up a lost comb found in the street because it was the banshee's comb and she will come looking for it that night so she can sit on your back wall crying while combing her long black hair. to this day whenever i see a lost comb, i give it a wide birth -
they always have water, just because you cant see it doesn't mean it's not there.

OK, well the update is this. The car was viewed by an expert and in his view it was not an original but a very convincing copy. The original is worth over 2000 euro I relisted the car and told everyone the experts view and it still sold for 700 euro Some people have more money than sense. Now which modular am i going to buy?
-
Interesting. Google Mekpak or plastic weld for liquid type glues that work perfect on Lego

Car tires suitable for laminate and carpets
Modelmaker replied to system's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry not a very helpful comment but you just reminded me of a childhood game i used to play. Me and my cousins used to build Lego racecars and push them down the stairs. We all started on 100 points and for every part that broke off your car you lost 1 point. First to zero points lost. Cars where rebuilt after each go. Technic pins not allowed it was a great way to learn how to build strong cars Hint: it's all about plates
