My Firgelli 100mm actuators came yesterday. I bought them from Active Robots, UK. Fast and cheap delivery to Sweden. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that no cable was included and the website didn't help me match one to PF. Maybe I just should look harder, but otherwise, any hints or directions where to buy this cable or maybe build one myself?

[HELP] 4 Wheel Driven Differential
Leif replied to Leif's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, your build got some potential and some unique ideas! -
This mining truck, grand! http://www.siemens.com/innovation/en/home/pictures-of-the-future/mobility-and-motors/electric-mobility-world-s-largest-dump-truck.html It uses 2 diesel engines to generate electric power to power 4 motors, one for every wheel. I assume. Given computers and all kinds of receivers and transmitters and all kinds of gadgets I guess everything works as planned, but is it really the computer that slows down the motors on the inner track when turning? Or 2 motors coupled together, per axle and a differential per axle? Don't think so? As you all may have figured out my question really is how they overcome the issue with differential, if each wheel is driven independently.

We got so many spares from our previous sets so we don't need any more 12 bevel gears..at the moment.. -
I got strange ideas, I'm not foolish! the machine is a small one but it can produce 8 bar / 116 psi so I use the Air Pressure Regulator of course, set it at approx 2.5 bar / 36 psi. Btw, the Lego pneu pumps can produce around 3 bar so at least should be in the margins when it comes to hoses and cylinders. Good thing to have confirmed is that the Arocs crane behaves wonderfully at 2.5 bar. You can do several movements at once and nothing depends on gravity to work. It means two things: good design and I have not cramped any hoses in my build

I had an idea that I simply had to get out of my head, and the best way to do that is by exercising the very same idea! Instead of batteries, use a power transformer (for stationary builds and for testing) Instead of the wee Lego pump, look in your own garage. Warning, not for the purist faint of heart Pneumatic stuff bought at Swedish Biltema for approx 5€ http://www.biltema.s...are-2000030972/

All good, yeah I had suspiciously many pins left over as well but I'm pretty confident that I, and you, built correct. I build slow and steady, never in a rush! -

That's why I always lay out and do an inventory before build..I know what is spare. But don't worry about pins, they always give you too many! -

Oh yeah. if it's not for the shelf forever then the parts will be somewhere else sooner or later. With stickers? oh no.. You'll learn which lever is for which function! -

Same here, just finished with the build. I really appreciate the truck and it is a beauty with lots of details and functions, but my grades will not be the same as yours - to each his own so there's nothing more to it! Building experience 9/10 - Good challenge and you have to think. Final Look 9/10 - Authentic, excellent suspension on all axles with new ideas that most probably will be reused on MOCs and new sets from TLG. Playability 7/10 - For me, personally, my own grading, you have to be "Ultimate 42009" or similar to be 10/10. Even though that means full RC and that is not what everyone is after, it is my grade. Pneumatics, I like it and I have worked with hydraulics for many many years as well in the field; excavators, back hoes and farm tractors. But - for me, personally, pneumatics is more in Lego a kind of "proof of concept" than playable. I can be sensitive and millimeter adjust the levers for raising and lowering the crane, but it is tedious and not authentic. I do not want to put gasoline on the "LA vs pneu" debate, it does not need it! But still, I cannot imagine loading the entire bed of the Arocs using this setup. Way too tedious... I customized the truck a bit by retrofit the pneu system with the air tank and the air pressure gauge. The pump can manage up to approx 3 bars. You have to have at least 2 bars to really use the crane! The boom is very slow and uncertain in movements below 2 bars but after that it works strong and fast. Using the gauge, without the tank, I could also see how fast the pressure dropped after only one or two boom movements so you have to wait for it to build up pressure again. Actually, over 2 bars, the clamshell will easily open and close without any gravity help, works in all angles. -

How come Brickset and Rebrickable both set the piece count to 2506, Even though Brickset at the same also set the piece count to 2793? 42009 has a piece count of 2606 and should not be the set with most pieces. http://brickset.com/sets/42043-1/Mercedes-Benz-Arocs-3245 -

Getting there.. Why oh why a friction pin in the middle of a gear sequence? It runs too fast otherwise..? -

Brake blocks or whatever it is called. you can put them after/before an axle to make extra sure the truck will not move.. -

everything is possible..but you have to rebuild the front axels entirely. they are not easy to motorize in the current setup.
