Opening sealed antique sets - wonderful or painful ?
Vindicare replied to drdavewatford's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This thread is making me sad. I have about 10 sets waiting, no wait, crying to be opened. Then the vast majority of my sets(all but 4, of about 300) are bagged and boxed on a storage locker, except my Modulars, which are here in a box. I hate moving. -
9448 Samuari Mech, to be exact.
-
Neat topic. I'll have to think about one I like a lot. Hopefully others will chime in. But, one that comes to mind is 6866 Wolverines Chopper Showdown. Logan is expressing his(and all AFOLs )dislike for the flick fire missiles. I'll think of something better, but that's pretty good.

That looks great. The crosswalks look a bit tight( ), I got my fingers crossed for ya.

Your interiors are always top notch, the details you put into your houses are great, and this is no exception. If this were on the shelf, I wouldn't think twice abbot buying it. Brilliant.

Go go Gadget car!

This is cool! This is more like an overabundant MOC. I like that you took Ollivanders Wand Shop from 10217, threw it on the ground, gathered the pieces(and then some) and rebuilt it into this beauty.I see Ollivander stuck a wand on the shelf upstairs. I guess he couldn't quite give up wands. I like that you kept the exterior Ollivanders, but didn't. The colors and general facade of O's is there, but it's so much more.

Wow! That is a creative exterior. I love it. How different angles completely change the shape of the building. That first floor interior is great, I like the entryway and how you have it laid out. You really raised the bar for this contest. The details here are great. The funky little clock. The window designs. All great.

Another amazing addition! I love the sidewalk, great pattern. Everything is great, but really...what could I say you haven't heard hundreds of times already about these? Your attention to detail and 'brick' work is beyond great.

No. Do not sell that set. As Hive said, it's an amazing set. I'm not even I to ships and I bought this set. It's one of my favorite sets and one I've never taken apart, and don't intend to. Build it. -
Congratulations indeed! That was such a great display piece. That kraken is unbelievably awesome! All those alien legs...great job EB!
-
Those legs are so cool, simple, but cool. the connection point looks weird though. It's because the wide torso goes into a suer small bar. I don't know how to solve the issue, and I'm sure you thought about it. Nonetheless, the fig is great.
-
Drat! I want 3300003 so bad! Not willing to pay eBay prices though... What do the front of the BAM pack look like?
-
Great job! I would, however, take the legs off the Swamp Creature. That way it doesn't look like he's walking on water. What you have built there is great, nice use of that plastic waterfall piece( what a piece). The rock work is very nice and it looks quite organic. Well done. Good thing about not going overboard with plants, good mix of greens.
-
Possibly...I'm certainly going to put 9464 and 9465 with it. Also, I'm gonna see if I can 9466 in the backyard area too...that may be hard though.
-
Chin up, this is great! The roof is especially nice, love the tan tiles added. The whole scene may be small, but it's bursting with character. The animals roaming around, the little boy raking the ground, the well and the house. Great job!
-
Lucky! You're going to Comic-Con?! I have been wanting to go for years now, just never worked out. So much more so since being back into LEGO.
-
Neat review indeed. I like the inset trans green stud on the back of the armor. But, you were incorrect on the head, that's a different print than in 6862. Personally, I like that face better, it's more fitting for a dude piloting a mech trying to get his nemesis. I liked the cameo by your sigfig. you should've integrated him more. I've seen someone before use his sigfig as the builder and it made his pictures mich more fun. Your photos are great, really showing off the fig.

What do you do with your sets/MOC once you've built them?
Vindicare replied to hellopike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You sell it if it doesn't stay together? That's strange... ZO6, you're not alone. Just today I had a little playtime with 9466 The Crazy Scientist & His Monster. It was quite fun shooting that beam of light and awakening Frankensteins Monster. -

You go right now and grab 10210, cut that sumbitch open and build! You have quite the stash there. I would definitely build 10219, it's a great model to display, people didn't even know it was LEGO till I told them. Then, build the Modulars. I see no reason to not open any set if you're not selling. What's the point? If you don't have room to display them due to size, I can understand. But for smaller sets especially, you could build, enjoy for a while, then take apart and sort them as you do. I have a few sets I haven't built in months, that's because were trying to sell the house and the less stuff, the better. I'm dying to build 10223 Joust, but since I plan on building that and not taking it apart, it'll have to wait. In the end, build them, that's what they're for. Edit...wrong set number. -
Amazing. Great architecture. The round part with the balcony is my favorite part. The little bits of red really break it up nicely and adds to it. That sucker sure is tall. The roof is nicely built as well, gives it a Victorian feel.

Monster Fighters 2012
Vindicare replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I built 9462 last night and noticed I had two different spears. One had a flat end and the other was rounded. Little strange. -
This is the first year where I've been REAL jealous of the people on the Inside Tour. That plane is great looking and that tower (all those 'brick' bricks!). Thats neat it's modeled after their plane. Although...aren't all the Inside Tour sets based on something close to TLG?

Ferrik, like those before me said, get both. I would just save up and wait and buy them both. Both sets have 2 exclusive figs and a lot of other goodies. I particularly like the Ninjago snake piece is Gandalfs cart. New horse. Yeah, save up.
