The names sound indeed very like the dino adventures line. I tought I could give up buying from a different theme but for now it seems unlikely. Can't wait to see pics of the sets
-
So much better than the original set. IT just begged to be modded to have a longer platform. Very good job making it still resemble the original but with huge improvements over that one
-
I would say the recent 7939. Why do you ask? -A complete set (you can get started once you have the batteries) -Great looking engine (IMO) -Decent track size -Decent amount of figs -Compatible with other PF parts (lights RE battery) -Good price -Good playability -Attractive to both Afols and Kfols But ofcourse everyone has a different opinion, influenced by demographic, education, and your own personal taste (like I don't like the new Maersk train since it's an US-like train)
-
Excellent review This was the only set I thought of buying this year but the huge price tag and the fact I don't really care about the figs (except the geonosian) made me not to buy this. What about the Battle for Geonosis set with the Proton cannon droid? That is also a Geonosis set right?

Excellent review of a good set, I recently rebuilded this one and I still enjoy it like I used to

Review: 2509 Earth Dragon Defense
Brickviller replied to SpyFlops's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review, have been reading it several times now . This was the only set of this theme that I remotly liked, and it still is. The only thing is that the price seems too steep (as ussual ), and I just have no display space left. At least that gives me a clear choice of what not to buy -
I don't think Lego will continue this theme. When I was at a few shops (Denmark and Germany) all the kids where going to StarWars, Ninjago, and some to City. However absolutly non went to the small hard to spot isle with PQ sets. I think most of those themes overshadow some of the smaller themes, making them less succesfull then they could. It is ofcourse possible that Lego will continue with this theme, but to me it seems unlikely since we will get the Dino 2012 theme next year (which could be a possible replacement). But we can always hope
-
I tought Duplo did that, but I don't think they will release something like that. Almost every non-city theme is about conflict, because that's more profitable. But since there no pics yet we can expect almost everything
-
I think based on the description that the theme would look like toys I found a while ago but never bought any since I'm a Lego guy. Anyway they're called -Dino Valley -Dino Quest (how ironic since some people said it would be called like this ) -Dino World Here's a few examples: They're all based on the same concept, dino's are once here on earth and people in their vehicles need to capture them. If you look some of the sets up I think it would be possible for Lego to release similar concepts. It is in fact like TLG previous theme's only in the modern world rather than the 30s or the near future. I think, looking at the previous themes, and the description given about this theme that it will mostly look like this, although we all need to wait for pics to appear PS: Just wishfull thinking but I would love a Spinosaurus
-
I just hope so much this theme will be like Jurassic Park, as a kid they were my favorite movies and I loved Lego dino's for that reason. I hope it will be not all vehicles and dino's like PQ but also some small buildings or plants. And please no rehash of Dino 2010, I liked it but the sets and the dino's looked kinda akward together in one scene. I hope the sets have at least a better colorscheme. I just can't wait to see pics of these sets
-
Was this a reaction to my comment or anything?
-
The general idea sounds really prommising, more or less a combination between the over-violent Dino Attack/2010 and the more peacefull Dino Island themes. Like others, I need to wait for pics, because I really hope the dino's look much more Lego like than their previous incarnations (Dino attack/2010 ones)
-
The ranger theme sounds really good, but I can't help thinking this will be sort of a rehash of what we've already seen, although in another setting Anyways it probaly is me, since I'm almost always sceptical to upcomming sets until I see them
-
Hi everyone It has been some time since my last update, not very much has been changed. But there will probaly be more new things around December in the City. For now the main page has been updated with new photo's of the city You can view them all once Brickshelf moderates them

Yeah but I think it's not a real blue engine, it used blue, ofcourse, but mostly as a complementary color to the black and light gray, but it IMO a tricky one to determine wether it's a full blue engine or not.
-
Hi there, I’m a guy who likes the color blue, and I also like Lego trains. So as a result of this I like trains in the color blue. However after some research I found out Lego actually has only released two train engines that had blue as their main color since 1980. The legendary 7760 Blue Shunter Locomotive released in 1980 and the infamous 4560/1 Railway Express released in 1999. If you compare these trains to other trains you would say it’s odd that there are far more trains in black, red, yellow and even green. So what could be the reason or reasons that Lego has only released two blue train engines in the last three decades? I think other people can think of reasons, so far I’ve made a small list and will add the ones from others: -It’s not as attractive. Colours have influence on people, it could be that blue has not such effect on people rather than red. It’s been proven that people dressed in red are more attractive, so this could also influence if you had a red train. Also the boxes in the city line always have a blue stripe at the side, and a blue-ish background. It may not look as good when the engine is also blue, even though I think this is not their main reason. -Realism. In my entire life I’ve almost never seen a blue engine. I live in the Netherlands and we have one of the most bussy railroads in the world so that says at least something right? Even in other countries I’ve never seen one. Even so, in Germany most cargo trains are red, and Lego tends to base their models on theirs.
-
Hmm, I do not know what they would do next. The only thing I can think of is the train engine shed, as a special edition in the City range. I would love a remake of the 12 Volt Blue shunter, only with updated parts to accomodate PF. But that's ofcourse just wishfull thinking. I still think a monorail could be possible, but not for 2012
-
Well, on Lowlug I've heard it's also not in the German catalogue, and it's widely avaliable there. I was also told that it will be sold in the Benelux, but it's not in the catalogue because it's a special edition, like the public transport set. That brings me to another question, because why would they make a special edition, and not even announce it is a special edition on the box?

Lets get started Set name: Escape from the Dragon’s Prison Set#: 7187 Theme: Kingdoms Pieces: 187 Minifigures: 4 Year of release: 2011 Price at release: EUR 19,99/GPB 18,99/USD 19.99 Time to build: ½ hour Brickshelf gallery Shop description Help the king’s knight escape! One of the king’s knights is being held captive in the tower by the evil dragon knights! Another king’s knight is here to help and smashes through the prison gate with his ballista. Help him avoid the crashing boulders being hurled his way from the tower gate catapult! Then defeat the dragon knight on horseback to escape! • Includes 4 minifigures: 2 king’s knights and 2 dragon knights • Features fully armored horse • Smash through the prison gates with the ballista’s flick shooter! • Roll the ballista into position and fire! • Scale the prison tower! • Measures over 7” (17cm) wide and 6” (15cm) tall • Ballista measures over 2” (5cm) wide and 2” (5cm) long • Horse measures over 3” (7cm) long Intro This is my first Castle themed set to review, and the first one I’ve bought in a small decade. Because of this I do not have much experience with these kind of sets, since I’m more a city guy. So I apoligize for any inconvience Review The box. The dragon knights try to defend their wall, while the lion knight triest o free the prisonner. As always the box art is very appealing, although I like the ‘good guys’boxes more, since they have more color in them. Side of the box, it was probaly to small to fit a 1:1 image of a minifig so they took the mouse. Back of the box, showing the functions of the set. And this is inside, three bags and the instructions. And suprise, no stickers! Not that I don’t like stickers though. The instructions had a few adds, like this one, and another one for the grand failure called Lego Universe. I like this page, but I would prefer the old posters that you could hang up in your Lego rooms. Another page showing the other sets. Piece callout, on the back of the instructions we all know what we will see there. And once opened we get a fair amount of pieces, since I haven’t bought medieval sets in a very long time I was suprised with the detailed printing on the figures. More on that in the following pics. The first to figs are also my favorite. The Dragon Knights. The left one seems like a funny guy, like he’s drunk or something. And the other one, on the right, is some sort of elite knight. He looks incredibly cool with his armour, shield and sword. He also has a double sided head. The other two knights, I thought they were called Lion Knights. They’re fairly cool, but also very standard troops. They have also detailed back printing. And one of them also has a double sided head. The horse, also one of my favorite parts in this set. With armour he’s very cool, fitting the other Dragon Knights perfectly. Side view And with the elite knight on top. The other ‘vehicle’ is this small catapult/cannon thingy. It uses a flick fire missile to shoot. It’ve very simple but also effective, although I wish they put the value of these parts into something else. The prison gate starts simple, just stapling bricks. It’s a fast build, but it uses a fair amount of bricks, rather than using BURP pieces. The gate/prison finished. It’s not big, even a little small. However you can’t have much more for this price. Back view On top is a small catapult to throw bricks at the enemies For some reason the designers put this diamond in this set, like it was not already enough to free a prisonner? I like it, and as a child I loved to have these diamonds, or other valuables in Lego form. The prison is very small. It is easy to acces because of the back door Conclusion Pieces: 8/10 A fair amount, but not really anything we have not seen before. The armour and helmet for the Dragon knight make mostly up for this set as does the minifig count. Also compared to other sets, like the battlepacks, it’s a steal. Minifigures: 10/10 The elite dragon knight was the main reason for me to buy this set. He has incredibly good armour, and the other figs are also very nice. The amount (4) is also welcome, since Lego has the habit to include only the minimum amount of figs in a set. Build: 6/10 good, but nothing fancy Price: 9/10 As said, compared to other sets in this price range it’s a very good deal Playability: 8/10 For a set this small you get both the good guys and bad guys, you can free the prisonner, or steal the diamond, make a small battle, or just play the soldiers need to sneak behind the wall. So yes playability is high. Conculsion: The set is good, and probaly also as an army builder. The structure itself lacks some small things, and the fact that the horseguy can’t even go under it is also a little strange. However the price, pieces, minifigs and playability make this set well worth the price. Especially compared to other themes. I give the set a: 8.2 Thanks for reading

I can not confirm this, but in the new Lego catalogue there is no image of it.
-
I'm sorry, I'm not really good with pic sizes, the page won't be deleted right? Anyways the pics will be smaller in my upcomming reviews

Same here in the Netherlands, it was avaliable for a very high price at the Online Lego Shop, and after a few days it just dissapeard

Set Name: Cargo Train Set #: 3677 Theme: City Pieces: 831 Minifigures: 4 Year of Release: 2011 Price at Release: €149,99 (may vary with other countries) Time to build: +/- 1½ hour Lego Shop link 3677 on Brickwiki Brickshelf gallery Shop description Prepare the cargo train for its next destination! Intro The first images of this train came out when it was shown to the public at Legoworld in Copenhagen, Denmark. Many of us thought it was not a real set, but after some time more images were found and we all believed it was a real one. It includes a new red battery box making the train’s front four studs wide, and thus showing that PF are not as limited as we/I thought. It is the fifth Lego City train, and the third with the Power Functions. Last year I build both the cargo and passenger train, so how does this new cargo train compare to it’s cousins? Why are you still reading, let’s get started! Review The box, like most City sets it shows a CGI modified image of the set. In the background the blue-ish city skyline, with the sun shining in the sky. As always the designers of the box made a piece of art. Unlike the one from the other review, it has not a yellow stripe saying special edition, possibly because this one was bought in Europe and the other one in the US. The back of the box. As always it shows the content of the various bags for easy building. The rest are various functions and views of this set. In the corner the same image from last year, only with the new train pasted in the scenery. The side of the box shows the true scale of a minifig, as we all know. And the full length of the train. As with most larger boxes you need to cut trough tape to open the box. The contents of the box. We get 7 regular bags, and a few with PF components and magnets. In the small box are the remote, motor and batterybox. The red cover for the batterybox was in a different seperate bag. Also I was suprised to see that this on in fact had the books and sticker sheet in a protected cardboard/plastic cover. I think this is also a difference with the US version since that one didn’t had this. We get 6 books, each to make a different part of the set and a stickersheet The stickersheet is not the largest we’ve seen, and I normally don’t have problems with applying them. The first bag and what’s in it. This will be used to make the base of the train. At the end of the first bag we have the train partly finished, and ofcourse, it’s driver. It’s funny that they didn’t include the same standart driver as 7939 or 7898. Because of this I see this set more as a complementary set, rather than a stand alone set. Even though, in my conclusion, both are good. More on that later, let’s move on to bag 2. The second bag has a nice variety of parts. Also, since this is the last bag for the engine, the power function parts will be added. As said in the other review, we get both a red and grey cover for the battery box. The red batterybox When I first saw a close up of the new boogie for this train I though it was not as good looking as the one from 7939. Here’s a comparrison between the two. And at the end of the second bag we have the great red European like engine. It strongly reminds me of trains we have here in the Netherlands, and I’m sure there are other ones that strongly look like this one. Side view. I also did not expect it to be so long. It’s just as long as 7939 and also a little higher (not counting the pantograph). Front view. The previous trains from the City theme could have lights in the front and back, however with this one it’s more or less impossible without large modifications. Back view. Here you can see the reciever. Really wel covered. The hatch can open and reveals a sticker on the reciever. The on/off button, I think they could’ve done a better job covering it. But it’s works very good anyway. The interior with a printed plate that’s been used since 2005. And bag 3 will be used to make the rail truck. The build is fast, but the result is very good. It looks like most of the other City trucks, so it’s not really anything new. Except that it can drive on rails and road . This functions seems tob e very popular among train sets, since Lego has made many variations of these kinds of vehicles. The back showing some equipment for maintaining the railroads. Inside the truck, it can fit ‘only’ one driver. It has also opening doors. Showing the truck on rails. And in bag 4 we have the parts to make the largest wagon in this set. I was suprised with the amount of slopes in this set. The wagon finished. I don’t know how these kind of wagons are called in real life, but it looks very cool. The roof can open easily to acces the small cabin. Interior of the cabin, I like that the designers added the coffee mug. And with the minifig inside. Also the crane can be used to lift the cargo up and down. This wagon scores high in playability. The cargo crane down The truck can be put on. It sits sturdy and doesn’t move at all. Another view Bag 5 is for the ballast wagon, and is also the one with less pieces that the others. Making the build very fast. Once finished we get a nice looking car. And it’s brown, a color we don’t see often in the City range. The ballast wagon can also tilt to deploy it’s cargo, more on this function later. Bag 6 is used to make the coal loader device and the small platform. It has some new pieces, like the large pillar like ones. The build is like most of this set, pretty straight-forward. And the result is also very good. More on the mechanism later. The last bag is for the most controversial wagon I’ve made. The toxic waste car. I was also suprised to see so many bricks for a car that’s compared to others small. Once finished we have the wagon and a pallet with the chemical waste. This is my first wagon with sliding doors, and they do not dissapoint. It’s also a great feature to include this cart o this set. The waste (since when is Lego waste?) inside the car And with the doors closed My Hazmat minifigs finnaly have something to do. It’s kinda strange that Lego let the normal railyard workers cary this stuff around (see back of the box pic) The spare parts And the remote, since that is also part of the set. It’s smaller that the RC train sets, but it feels very good. And a total shot of the train set and the track, I’m so sorry for the blur. Another view And the ballast loading mechanism. Step 1 Let the train drive past it Step 2 Is to stop the train, move the conveyor belt down and turn the round bricks so the bricks fell inside the wagon. Step 3 Once it’s loaded you can drive to your destination, tilt the wagon and unload it. Conclusion Pieces: 8.5/10 New windows, red battery box, and the brown piece for the ballast car. All that and the other pieces make it a sollid 8.5 Minifigures: 5/10 Nothing special, just the regular trainyard workers Build: 8/10 I really enjoyed the build, IMO better than the build from 7939, although a little shorter. Price: 9/10 (at least for the price I got it) I got it for 140, but 150 would also be good. The train has great value and is a very good placeholder for a train between 7939 and 7938. The price seems to vary very much between countries, so I just took the price from Germany. Playability: 10/10 It’s IMO even better than the already almost perfect playability from 7939. Overall : It’s a very good set on it’s own. Although some parts could have done better. Like some other things with Lego it’s two steps forward and one step back. However it’s for me almost a perfect set to have, because I really like it’s industrial look. I rate it 8.1 Comparison with 7939 At last the ultimate face-off with the last two City cargo trains Engine: The one from 3677 has a nice industrial look, and is possibly ment for short rides. The one from 7939 has a more modern look, and can possibly serve as a passenger train too. Cars: Both trains have the same amount of cars. I like the ones from 3677 better, since the ones from 7939 are too simple for my taste. Playability: 3677 is clearly more playable than 7939. With the new one you can load the ballast wagon, repair the tracks with the truck. And can play that the train carries chemicals, something I loved to play when I was a kid. 7939 has a closed container with nothing to put in. The small cars are also nice and the truck is also good, but you can only carry containers and cars with it. The Octan car from 7939 is very good, but you can’t open it or anything. However 7939 has two switch points, which 3677 lacks. Expendability: 7939 is much more expendable. You can add both lights and a rechargable battery without doing anything unofficial. Also it is supposed to carry much more wagons than 3677 since that’s only a maintance train or can be used for short rides. Price: 7939 was good priced where I live, and it was sold very much. I’ve bought 3677 for 140 euro’s in Germany which is a very good deal (it’s listed as 150 in their shops) . However the price seems to vary much. Like in the Netherlands it was priced as 170 euro’s(!!) the same price as 7939. So it really depends on where you live. If it’s 150 I would still buy it, but anything above would force me to buy it from cheaper web shops rather than from Lego themselves.

Can you make some pics of how to open and replace it. I have a rechargeble one, but there are no screws at the underside so I do not know how to replace it

Loot of yesterday Nah just joking, only the new red cargo train, and the lighthouse
