Today I review the new forest fire truck, a set I bought to replace my aging fire fighting department. But is it just as good as the 2005 version? Lets find out Item: 4208 Pieces:243 Price: €19.99/$19.99 Shop at home Shop description We start ofcourse with the box. Most City boxes look the same in terms of background, and this one is not really an exception. New is ofcourse the forest like background, which all boxes of the subtheme have, to me it looks very nice. The back of the box shows the various functions of the set, note that the minifig says HEY! is still the older version Side of the box Other side Content of the box are 2 bags, here showing bag 1 Bag 2 The instructions, And the stickersheet which are very common in the City sets After opening the first bag I immediatly saw these. New pieces used in the tree, a very welcome piece and possibly very usefull to moc'ers The build is devided into two parts to construct the truck and tree The minifig is brand new in the city theme (or any theme for that matter). His helmet is a new dark red color, and his clothing has changed from black to orange, a much better color for firefighters if you ask me. The submodel of this set is the tree, and it's on fire! Good thing Lego City has a very big fire department to make sure the city is not destroyed by..lets say somekind of fire dragon Close-up of the new pieces And we have bag 1 finished, on to bag 2 The model finished, and we saw it was good It's a really nice engine, but more on the details later Parts list Our favorite page of the instructions And what seemed to me a new page advertising the Lego City website The other advertising was only the forest fire sets, no police or whatsoever And on to the truck, its very bulky and sturdy, so you (or anyone else) can play rough with it The roof is easily removed to acces the drivers cabin. Also it has doors so the driver can enter it without help from the 'Great hand' And something that was funny two years ago, a coffee mug. It's cool and stuff, but TLC has added these to just too many vehicles IMO, but maybe I just want to have everything perfect The other part of the vehicle is the cabin for the watercannon controller, It's quite cool they added this feature to this set, but the fact it has only one minifig, while it should be manned by two costs points. Close-up, note that the controls are printed And the last cabin is for the firemans equipment. Equipment of the fireman Rear view The water cannon And the firemen with his equipment, ready to safe the day! Extra parts And the complete set Conclusion: All in all, a very good set. Especially for the price, which is about 5 Euros lower than the firetruck from 2005. Comparing those two is ofcourse innevitable, but I won't do that, since it belongs in a different subtheme. The build is also nice, but if you've build City vehicles for the last two years, it's not much different than any other City truck. Playability is ofcourse also high, you can drive to the tree, extinguish the fire and drive to the next fire The cons is that it didn't come with another firefighter, which is a missed oppertunity. Also the water cannon on top tends to turns around while driving the vehicle. From me it gets a 8,5 out of 10 Thanks for watching!

Breathtaking, the entire layout(s) are amazingly done. I have much respect for the builders of these, it must have been really hard to build all this and put it together like that.

So awe-insipring, the buildings, interior, details it's just too much for my brain to handle Everything looks great, and the fact the road goes down a little is very original. I can't stop looking at the pic and find new great things you've added to the scene

Yesterday I looked at a store display of all the forest sets, and for a moment I thought this car was one of the best of the entire wave. However the fact that I already have like 15 older police cars made me decide not to buy it, but your review made me think about it again

Great review 'Silentmode'! The set seem to be really good for girls, and a decent parts pack. But I just can't see myself buy such a set (because it is aimed at girls ) Also with all those small insects in that tree it would be eaten within three days Someone should call the insect killer to deal with those!

Well that is impressive! The size of the buildings and the sheer ammount of bricks used for those is overwhelming! As a kid I always buildt high towers, but not nearly as big as these Very well done

The Brickville Union army is one of the projects I've been working on for the last couple of months. The sets look Ok so far, but this is just not a theme that appeals me. Much like Studios didn't when those came out. As most said it looks like a combination of several older themes, however as far as I know, all of these where quite unsuccesfull. Which makes me wonder wether or not this will/can be an succesfull theme

For one of the first times I really begin to like this theme. My current favorite is the samurai mech thingy. The rest is a little meh..The four headed dragon doesn't look all that bad to me i wonder what the rest of the sets look like. I hope for some kind of big building like the Fire temple

Looking at these sets I must say they loo much better than Prelims of this year, or at least the same level. The mining theme is a wish came true, since it is a combination of both City and a little of Rockraiders/power miners . The hospital is very nice, altough I really have no need for yet another helicopter

The sets do look interesting to me. Maybe some where expecting more, but remember that this is (just) the first wave. So there is still more to come. As a non-LotR fan I have to say that mines of moria do look quite interesting to me, but that was also my favorite place in the movies

Well now it is all complete.. Even though I normally don't buy anything from SW, the Fury looks just aweseome, and I loved ye olde Republic back in the days...So that is one for my wishlist. Now if only City pics would come up

Ok, I don't know why anyone has commented yet, so I'll do it. The Musuem (interior) is great and captures the feeling of both the ancient egypt and the general layout of a room in a museum very good. It inspires me to make something like this too. Only lacking the money and room to do so The exterior might need some work, altough I doubt that was your main point of this moc

Amazing news, never tought Lego would make sets based on these series. At least better than Harry Potter IMO.

Hey fellow Eurobrickers! Today I review one of the new Lego Forest police set. The heavy lift helicopter for the brave policemen (and women) that help to protect and keep Lego City safe. Well this time not really IN a city, but more in the nearby forrest. A welcome change if you ask me, but maybe a little to close to the regular police theme of last year. Without further ado lets start shall we? Name: Heavy duty helicopter Number: 4439 Theme: CITY (Forest police) Year: 2011/2012 Pieces: 393 Minifigs: 3 Shop description The box We start with the box, as always a piece of art in itself. The background with the city, mountains and large pine trees. Everything seems so forest-like. Even so, the box is what made me buy this. Nah not really, but it did help with my decission. The side of the box shows the figures included in this set. All with a new torso, so exciting to recieve new figs to add to our cities. Lets move on.. The back of the box, more or less the same as all city sets. Showing various functions and angles of the set. Some of them seem a little obvious to me, but the’re pure eye-candy. Also showed are some of the other new forest police sets. Content The box is opened and we can see the contents. We get a total of 4 numbered bags to build this monster, together with 2 large instruction booklets. Also a larger plate was in the box and ofcourse the loved/hated sticker sheet. As always we start with the first bag. This will be used to construct the 6 wheeled quad-like vehicle and the first part of the helicopter. I almost forgot about the figs! More on those in the next pics, One of the first things I noticed were the new life vests. They’re kinda more realistic/modern than their older counterparts. Not to mention they’re lighter and thus probaly cheaper for Lego to make. It looks better with the new figs if you ask me. The three figs we get in this set. Two pilots and a ranger. All of them are very detailed, especially the pilots that also have printed legs as well. The ranger is one of my favorites since it fits the entire forest theme so incredibly well (it should be since the new print was made fort his sub-theme). The back of the figs are also printed. Which is ofcourse also very welcome. I first tought the pilots did not have any printing on their backs, because it was kinda hard to see with the torso itself being dark-blue. And the minifigs are finishing the quad-ish vehicle. It is very similar to all Lego quads in build, but it has instead six wheels. Which is also a welcome change. It has also some extra small containers to carry stuff around, but more about those later on. And here it is, driven by the forest ranger with his walkie-talkie in his hand. Didn’t they learn him that driving while using a telephone is dangerous? At least the new ambulance has something to do now…. The back of the six-wheel quad (isn’t there a real vehicle like this IRL?), No backlights or anything, which I found kinda lazy. But you can’t have everything right? And inside is a flashlight (to signal the ambulance …) And handcluffs to arrest bears or crooks hiding in the forest. And we’ve reached the end of the first bag. The quad is finished and we have the general shape of the basis for the helicopter. The second bag contains much more blue, which is the main color of the vehicle. Also a nice variety of bricks. And at the end of the second bag it looks already a lot like the one on the box. The general shape is almost done. Safety seems to be a main priority, since the policemen do wear lifevest but are not worried about a coffeemuc on their dashboard(?). I predict a large raise in new fire and hospital sets in the future…. Random page. I wonder what that thing in the middle is with the wheel. Is it supposed to look like an engine or something? Anyway on to bag three, and a new instruction book. About those, I found out why the’re both thick. Some steps use like a max of 4 parts per step. Meaning more pages.. Bag 3 contains the larger pieces for the roof and for finishing most of the hull of the craft. No comment on the large pieces… After a fast build the third bag is done. Now we have most of the vehicle completed. The last bag will be used to make the rotors and finish the aircraft, and thus this set. We get 8 blades, which seems to me like a very high number. But that’s because Lego hasn’t released such a helicopter in a very long time. And the set in all it’s glory. The Chinook/twin rotor helicopter looks very accurate, while still being playable enough. It’s probaly one of the largest system-based helicopters in Lego history, dwarfing all that came before. Playability is quite high on this set. The hatches can be opened on both sides easily to acces the cockpit. Both pilots can sit in it confortable while flying (and probaly crashing because SOMEONE spilled the coffee on the electronics, yes I can’t let this go..) The other hatch is located at the back, where the quad can enter the vehicle. I haven’t tried to get another vehicle in it, but it should be very possible as long as it isn’t too wide for it. The interior is kinda bland, but I didn’t expect anything else since a vehicle needs to go in it. There is no hatch or wall that seperates the cockpit from the rest of the aircraft so you can see enterly trough it like here. Another and last hatch is on one side that can be openend to reveal the compartmend, here the quad is in it... And here it’s empty to store supplies or extra police figs All hatches/doors open Front view, Side view Back view, a little bland IMO Other side, also a little bland. I would prefer to have some stripes of yellow like the other side to break the blue a little. Underside, no comment here What I found was that the pilots sit a little too high, something we see this days a lot with City trucks. This is one of the main parts I disliked on the box and vehicle. There is a gap on such an not-logic place. However I found out is was done by desing, since the doors could not be openend i fit was filled with plates/bricks. Spare pieces And the diorama of the new police sets in the back of the instruction books. No other advertising of new City sets. A new advert. Of the Lego City game for the (awfull) WII-U. And the piece sheet Conclusion This set retails around 40-50 Euros in the Netherlands. Which seems a very good price for a vehicle of this size. The playability is also very high, but it would be cool if there also was somekind of winch to lift stuff up. The minifigs are very good, since all of them are new. The only thing I found lacking was the build time, since each bag was finished very fast, even with taking pics and several breaks. Also some areas eem a little to bland IMO. So yeah, a great set and IMO the best set of the new forest police line. Lego has not released a chinook in a very long time and this one stands out on it’s own. I own both police helicopters (this one and the one from last year) and this one is better by a long shot. If you want to buy a nice helicopter I advice to buy this one. A solid 8,5 out of 10 Thanks for watching

This is probaly the first time in my life that I liked the preliminary pics better that the finalized onces. What a dissapointment, the t-rex just look weird and much more unlego than the prototype. They all just look very cheap to me, with an overcolorized background and stuff. Like they wanted to have me not buying these for some reason

I've bought many 'fake' building bricks in the past, some better than others. But we also need to realize it's not all about the quality of the bricks. It's about even more. I think there are good reasons why these fake sets are so cheap, and not only because of their inferior material. Also things like 'do these companies care about environmental impact'? Most fake brands come from China, and while I have nothing against China, most products are made of inferior quality (because we in the west want to have cheap products tough..). But also China is one of the bigger poluters on this planet, while Lego got several prizes for their environmental policy. Also another thing are the working conditions of the people who're making these toys. Again nothing against China, but most of us know that many people must work there under conditions that would not be accepted in factories in the west. Now I don't want to have a discussion about these things here, but I do think these things matter, and some constumers may not realize that when they say that Lego is way to expensive compared to these fake brands.

Well, the 2005 were bad because this was the year that Lego finnaly decided to do everthing different, since they had lost a lot of money due to dropping sales. The theme before this one was World City, which was also only police and rescue. Lego needed to rethink their concept of sets for children that they can relate to. Police and fire sets still looked a lot like the World City color scheme, but it also introduced much new things. Also the construction sets were not that good, but this can be due to the fact that they didn't design much desend constuction sets in years. I don't think they're that bad at all. It was also a learning process for Lego, because if you look at the sets of today, or a few years back, you still can see they used basic shapes and constructions of the first wave of City, only better. Much like the evolution of cars in the real world, everything gets better over time. After these years they expanded this theme even further than any other town theme in Lego's history. With the farm sets, forrest police and fire and so on. Some sets were better, and some worse but no-one can deny that the introduction of the new City theme was a turning point in Lego history.
