  1. In general i think the AFOL community is friendly. As in every community there are always these people who seem to have an issue with everything. Often these are non creative narrow minded individuals (often i doubt adult, in true sense), who should find the Dora the Explorer forum to talk to people of their level
  2. Yes including a load of scaled potatoes in it for realities sake.
  3. It was a great event. We had 34 meters of Legotrucks at display, and the quality was very good. The pictures from Barman say it all. The last one D&D, is a mix from Dennis and Dennis, that is myself and Legotrucks (Dennis Bosman). We have put our work together for fun. On the last picture called D&D you see my Scania 142 with Legotrucks trailer. Below is one of my Scania 143 with the same trailer. We concluded that they match very well, and planned to do an outside photoshoot in time.
  4. Inspiring to see that creativity has no boundaries. Respect.
  5. No, it is the angle i think. There are two things deceiving here. First of all this is a standard hood 359, and not the extended exhd one. This looks more compact. Secondly it has a standard sleeper, and not the higher and longer version i am using on my chassis. Here is a picture of a lowrider 359: But, nonetheless i like it when people look more sharp into my work and have fundamented comment. Things can always be impoved!
  6. You are right Dluders. The wheels are scale 1:13, recalculated from real tire dimensions. The rest of the truck is rescaled based on the wheel size, as that is one of the few parts you cannot influence. There is nothing wrong with any of the dimensions, they are converted from chassisdrawings and on target. I looked at the new Unimog tires, but they don't really look to belong on a lowrider US truck to me.
  7. Thnx all for the comments! About the suspension. I have made real airrides in the past, and to be honest i started of building this one with the plan of mounting a battery box in the sleeper (like with the Optimus Prime truck), and not make a pneumatic airride as it should be, but a mechanical variant, together with working flip bumper. This was pure for the reason that pneumatics will be of a too big influence of the look and detail i want to create. With actuators and small gears you can still create functionality. But i skipped the idea later on, because i have two other builds lying to be finished before the big Modelshow Europe event end of March. The Hot Rod i made a while ago triggered my thought on this subject too. I will make a fully functional ride sooner or later again.
  8. Hi Tim, I plan to shoot a video within two weeks. It drives quitte well. You can check one of its brother here driving with trailer. It shares the same mechanics:
  9. Updated the truck a bit, after some usefull tips from Transformers freaks Smokestacks lowered, added split window and updated rear fenders.
  10. Thnx all, those are some big compliments This was a nice one to build. In the Dutch Lego community there are some very big Transformer freaks and i have been asked often to give Optimus Prime a go. Now basically there is the Prime from the series (a cabover) and the Prime of the movies, a longnose Peterbilt. I watched the movies with my kids and liked the 379 Peterbilt best. The actual truck is darker blue, and i also found out that the stacks should be a bit lower. With some minor updates this is as close as i can get now, i asume. Normally i dont keep my moc's that long, but this one will be a nice one to bring along to shows. The truck in Dluders header (thanks for posting ) is not actual the Optimus Prime from the movies, but a very nice replica. It comes very close but the sleeper is a different type. Here is the actual truck:
  11. That is a very good technical job! I am actually working on a non transforming Optimus Prime these days.
  12. It is the best Lego set for sure in a long time. I will buy it too. Nevertheless it has some faults. The door structure is too simple and looks odd, there are better ways of doing this. Also the overhang at the rear is off scale compared to a real t1. Besides that is a very nice model.
  13. I dont like Lego guns, but the build itself is marvelous.
  14. Sunday the 2nd of October there is another edition of the Dutch Mackday. Besides a lot of real trucks, there is a big modelbuilders exhibition, including Lego. Among the exhibitors will be some well known builders: 2legoornot2lego Legotrucks Konajra Barman76 Bricksonwheels and a couple of builders more, who dont have a webpage. See here. It is free! Mackday
  15. Thnx. always nice to see my trucks around this great forum. Just started work on something new to me. A VW T1. I like the new Exclusive set, and it inspired me to make my own version of it in 1:10 scale.
  16. Thnx all. About the switch: principally it would have been no problem to hide the switch. But as i only use it at shows, normally the side where the switch is positioned is then faced to me, and not to the public. This makes it easy to do a quick demonstration. That is the only reason it is there.
  17. The Yellow Volvo NL12 and yellow white Scania LS141 are from Dennis Bosman. The blue Scania 142 on the picture is mine. For those close or in The Netherlands, at 2 October all of these will be at the Mackday in Utrecht, along with more trucks from 2LegoOrNot2Lego,RalphS, and more. Here it is with one of the Pete's:
  18. This weekend Dennis Bosman, also known as 'Legotrucks' visited me and my family, and besides a lot of fun we took some pictures together. Dennis brought some of his trucks, so of course we could not resist to put them aside. The fun is that it clearly shows that even if you build the same scale and the same theme, Lego is such a strong medium that you can still have different styles. We used my Studio background and went to an industrial area to do two settings. The two Peterbilts, and the Scania 142 (red and blue)are mine, .. Dennis brought the yellow volvo NL12, and the yellow white Scania LS141 wrecker. More here: My link
  19. Great work Lasse, i really like your engineering ideas
