  1. It's always while supplies last. I believe phone orders are possible for those without access to the internet.
  2. The Lego store in Schaumburg, Il still has MMs left as of today. Looked like they still had a fair amount still to give away.
  3. ^yes. Otherwise all the actors should have white bubbles above their heads and not actually speak. Movies are not about replicating something that already exists. Last year one of my nephews turned four and is a Hugh superheroes fan. At the time it was the Hulk so I made him a hulk piñata for his birthday. To get the details correct I looked online for drawings and what I found was a plethora of interpretations of the hulk by many different artists. While having the basic green color and black hair and large muscles all of the these varied greatly in shades of green and muscle structure. In general artists want to create their own version based on their own interpretation. While they may use elements from other artists, they don't just want to copy someone else. That's unimaginative and in some cases illegal. But the point is when directors create movies they may base it on something but want to create the world as they see it, not as someone else does. And frankly it's no different for the designers of lego sets.
  4. I agree, the age range is just a recommendation based on the capabilities of the average child. It's no different than movie ratings, PG is parental guidance suggested, not parental guidance mandatory. And just as an adult can watch and enjoy a movie rated G, a 17 year old can enjoy building a set meant for much younger children. Their main reason for existing is you wouldn't want to give a small child a set with small pieces that they might stick in their mouths and chock. You also want your child to have something that will challenge them and keep them engaged. That being said you see children all the time playing with toys for much younger children because toys can be fun at all ages.
  5. http://www.thebrickfan.com/no-more-martian-manhunter-minifigures-available-on-lego-shop-at-home/ I imagine the secondary market price is going to be pretty high. Glad I didn't wait.
  6. Yes pirates are even more popular with adults. And children like to be apart of what interest their parents. At least until they are teenagers.
  7. I would have to respectfully disagree. Pirates are popular with children. Though maybe it's with children who are younger than your own. I see pirate references all the time in cartoons. Not to mention sponge bob, one of my favorite cartoons is popular. My oldest daughter got interested in pirates from a pirate exhibit of the Whydah and has been a fan ever since. Just because children are not currently playing pirates hardly means that they don't have any interest. Pirates in our popular culture represent much what it means to be a kid, fun, adventure, exploration and imaginative play.
  8. We got started with advent calendars by way of playmobil. It was something fun for the kids to open and we used several years to build up a scene for the mantel. Having come out of the dark ages and kids being into legoes we started getting their advent calendars. In general I find them lacking in good display items for our mantel. And for the price it seems to leave us believing something is missing based on what you get. Plus they seem to be repetitive, at least.the city and especially the friends calendar. I imagine we will get the Star Wars one this year because I'm a big darth vader fan. But unless we something very different it might be the last year. The winter village sets seems a much better way to go, and I might make my own advent calendar to keep the tradition alive.
  9. If that is true why do they only put the piece count on the boxes in the u.s.? Piece count is a poor way to judge a set anyways. Weight would be better but even that has its flaws. Piece count says little about the actual pieces and the varying sizes, let alone costs for new molds and what not. And if indeed the instruction book is specially printed that would affect the price as well. Products are priced on various factors, not just a statistic.
  10. A new cloud car would be great. A new cloud city would be awesome with a better carbonate chamber. Maybe along the size of Jabbas Palace with some kind of add on landing platform for the slave 1.
  11. I grabbed Jabbas Palace in my quest for the MM minifig. Just in time as it is now sold out on S@H. I've also picked up MF, Tie and X wing microfighters. I'll save those for a rainy day.
  12. I agree, I don't have one, let alone ten. I'm also pretty sure my nephew doesn't either and even if he did he will let still love this book.
  13. I hope you are right. $300 seems a bit over the top.
  14. I bought the LoTR Pirate Ship Ambush for my first ship. It seems to be on sale all the time in the u.s. for 25% off. In the UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-The-Lord-Rings-79008/dp/B00B0ICYP0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394053140&sr=8-1&keywords=Lego+79008
  15. No, I bought Jabbas Palace and got it.
