Here y'are, folks. Took me long enough to get around to finishing this, but it's done now. Poggle the Greater Poking fun at Lucasfilm, not TLC, but I think you get what I'm driving at. A nice naming detail that adds a sense of history, but it still sounds funny.

Hopefully this doesn't mean you're leaving SoNE ... Just a bit of drama, in preparation for a grand comeback? Nice vignettes, though. I don't recall seeing your two freebuilds; definitely must go check those out.

!!!!!!!!!! I like it! Don't tell me how much all those Imperial Guards cost, I'd as soon not know. Impressive work with those TIEs, and the gate is really a tour de force. Go ahead and complete the diorama, please!

[SoNE Episode V] Ashamed of the empire
VK-318 replied to Nom Carver's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
<<<INTELLIGENCE REPORT>>> FROM: VK-318 Vladimir Volker TO: Fleet Command, Imperial Security Fleet Chief Finding severe decline in trooper morale. Known possible sources recent Imperial defeats and current groundside operations. Have observed pronounced shell shock among pilots veteran of Sullust and disquieting murmurs from ground troops attached to current mission. Discontent widespread and rises to include high level officers and elites. Recommend action be taken to curb loss of morale. <<<END OF DISPATCH>>> Seriously, though, what are we Imps up to here? Weeping over trees? I like the exoskeleton, but I do think you should have fewer blades on each hand; When you get through cutting with all those, there's a lot of wood lost, and the Empire uses the sale of that timber as a revenue source, in order to lighten the tax burden on its citizens. The dirt patches are also curiously square in shape ... -
Looks pretty good, though I'm not quite sure where the power plant and so forth would fit in there. I also think that it would look better/more accurate with scout troopers instead of stormies, if you have them.
-
Don't let that stop you! You can buy Stormtroopers on Bricklink for about $5.00 (U.S.), and most of us have been using only three or four stormtroopers at a time in our builds so far. Besides, there is also the option of building at non-minifig scales. Microscale scenes might be a good way to get started until you can get your hands on some stormies.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)

Please, please do! Maybe in their own thread, with a link in the Avenger and the Introduction and Discussion threads? -
Yes, the cooperative story is a great idea! I wish you luck!

These are great! I think Obi-Wan's fighter should be dark red instead of standard red, though it's kind of hard to tell since the ship very dusty during the scenes on Geonosis and in the dark while on Kamino.

Status update - restarted my computer without saving my nearly-finished build = massive redesign underway. It's looking pretty good, though. -
Voting for Licensed IDEAS projects are not a lost cause :-)
VK-318 replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Maybe not. After all, the Taj Mahal from a while back had nearly as many parts. The issue would be whether or not they think they can sell enough of a given idea to make it profitable, and since the market for huge, likely expensive UCS sets is pretty limited, the mere presence of 10,000 votes may well represent a large enough potential market for LEGO to give it a shot. This isn't a very large set in its total dimensions, either, when compared with, the Death Star II or Executor models, so I'd say that if Cavegod's AT-AT gets the full number of votes, it may well get the green light - when LEGO goes looking for more UCS models to produce. That may take a while, but it's by no means a lost cause. And speaking more generally, I don't think there's any reason to not vote for a set that you would like to see LEGO make. After all, so far as I can tell there's no limit on votes you can cast or any cost to voting, so the idea of a vote being wasted makes no sense to me. I may be wrong about that; if so, please correct me. -
Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)

I've settled on a build concept. I'm going to work on a build showing the construction of a landing platform. It'll be in LDD, so I'll possibly be contacting BEAVeR about rendering if I can't figure out the process he gave in the comments to his Episode II build. -
I'm guessing it'l be a character from Rebels, or maybe from the upcoming Episode VII.

Great! I should have one of my own ready in a day or two. Just need to find the time to get it ready.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion
VK-318 replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
You may have only one minifigure that features third party elements and so forth. Mixing and matching official Lego minifig elements for other minifigs that you use in freebuilds, etc. is legal. In other words, the only restriction on what minifigs you can use is that only one minifig, the one that represents your character, can include non-official Lego components. -
Yessir, this is one tough customer. But a little vulnerable on the right side, perhaps? Might want to add an antipersonnel weapon on that side of the turret.
-
Yikes. This, folks, is why them call them "Seriously Heavy Investments of Parts." Great work, Lasse D. How do you intend to power the rotating shields? I would assume not with the 9V train controller you used earlier? I would think that would be pretty ugly..

This is ridiculous, sj1984. I've been hoping to see this thread rise to the top of the forum again, but not like this. So some people think that a comic posted a year ago is racist. Firstly, when this strip came out, there were a few concerns voiced that it might be racist. Oky, the person who posted the comic, then specifically said he had not intended for it to be taken as a racist statement and apologized for offending anyone. That was enough to satisfy the concerns of everyone at that time, and since then there have been no complaints about it. And secondly, this thread is regularly visited by moderators, and if they had felt that there was an issue they would have stepped in and resolved it then. But whatever. You think it's racist? That's all right, and you are certainly welcome to say so, just as the handful of others a year ago were welcome to say so. But you are not welcome to continue to say so over and over and over again. You have made your opinion clear. At the moment, you have two options. First, you can just let it go, or at least take it to a different thread. There may be (and probably is) a thread for discussing Eurobricks policy, racism included, but this isn't that thread. Second, you can appeal to a moderator. If you think this strip is so offensive that you just have to get it taken down, take your case to one of the Star Wars moderators. But this string of posts criticizing a year-old comic is no longer serving a useful purpose.

Nice one, Oky. I've seen and/or owned a handful of minifigures with two faces and hair or headgear that didn't quite cover a face on the back of the minifig's head (some of the LoTR and Hobbit minifigs are pretty bad that way); a mouth peeking out from under some minifig's hairdo is a little disconcerting.

Great design, Anio. I can't compliment you enough on this. I had been wanting to do a mod of this ship at a scale to show some detail, and I was able to reverse-engineer your design (sort of) from the Brickshelf images. Great work, and it gave me a chance to hone my Lego building skill with a very stiff challenge.

[SoNE Episode IV] Sector C: Operation NOSECONE
VK-318 replied to VK-318's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I hope in future to be able to things like adding the walls BEAVeR mentioned, but right now my stock of light and dark bley is pretty small (I spent more time trying to find a way to cover the floor with the tiles at my disposal than I did on every other part of designing and building this combined.) But I am adding some sets and Bricklinked parts to my collections, trying to complete an almost-SHIP, so we should see more parts in my collection to do things like this soon. Until then, expect more small-scale freebuilds and episode builds from me; LDD is not really my thing, and it's much cheaper, and to me much more interesting and challenging (though not as awe-inspiring to the viewer), to build something accurately in such a way that you can hold it in one hand than to do so in such a way that takes up a whole tabletop. (Sorry to double-post, but since BEAVeR had requested walls earlier, in the secret communications channel we used to plan our builds, I felt I really owed him and the rest of my team an explanation for that obvious omission).- 15 replies

SoNE Contest Episode IV: Secrets of the Empire
VK-318 replied to Nom Carver's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Actually, I hadn't really noticed the thing about all EU after Episode VI being canceled ... Darn! And VII isn't out until the end of 2015? Oh, well. Guess I've got some waiting to do before I can finish a few projects ... -

Not to worry, MKJoshA. In the 158 years of its history, the Empire, whether as the Galactic Empire, the Imperial Remnant, or the Fel Empire, never surrendered to the Alliance or any of its successors, allies, or enemies. True, we made peace, but it was on our terms. True, we were three times nearly destroyed; first by the New Republic, then the Yuuzhan Vong, then by the One Sith, but we never surrendered and we're still going strong. Bring it on!
