New 3rd party magnetic train couplers [and micromotors too]
fluffybunny replied to zephyr1934's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hopefully that picture gives you enough detail. It isn't exactly a technic pin connector, but it works great. Yes it will pull 2-3 cars no problem. We used a similar motor at Brickworld Chicago and a similar train size and it pulled 20 BMR cars. It had some issues getting started due to the light weight, but once it got going with a little bit of help it pulled them no issue. To answer your question about IR/PF/housing and power supply, a lot of that is covered in the product listing better than I can cover it, but, yes it has an IR receiver and speaks PF, It has a lot more features in it than the regular PF. For example it will ramp speed up and down, so it isn't instant power. The reason for that is to give the sense of weight behind the train and that it takes a little effort to get going. The controller also has the ability to have 2 lights on it. Those lights also have options to be both lights always on, light to change based on direction the locomotive is going, it will do all sorts of cool things, and still being worked on. There is no housing for the controller. It uses an included lipo battery(see the product listing for which one, it may change at some point in the future) The reason for no housing is to keep things as small as possible and to allow for the most flexibility. Also I realized looking back at previous posts on this thread, the correct product listing for the train controller isn't linked. https://lifelites.com/tiny-train-control-kit it is powered by a LiPo battery, and this is mentioned in the product listing. There is NO CURRENT SHUT OFF on the controller. I'm not sure of the reason why, I think it had to do with size but not 100% sure. The goal lifelites had was to have the absolute smallest combination of controller/battery/and motor to drive trains. Your exactly right though you don't want to drain LiPos fully. -

it has a lego axle connector. I'm not sure exactly how that was done, but yes it is a lego axle connector. I'm driving the tiny shay with 2 of the 12 tooth bevel gears, 1 on the motor, 1 on the axle. That is a nice model I like it! -

@M_slug357 on this version just 1. 1 motor and 2 independent lights. The software is already in the controller for the lights to go on and off depending on the direction your running(if you want) Again, I'm not sure how much I can say for future products, but there are future products in the works. The goal for this first product was to develop the programing, and the hardware, to run the tiny trains that studly trains also has designed and released instructions for. The image below is 2 of the models he has designed. -

I am testing the final production parts of the motor and train controller. I'm going to be working on a little video explaining the motor and the features of the controller, if yall have any questions I'll try and go over it. Also I can answer any questions yall have on the magnet couplers too. The main reason for the product is because of the cost and long term availability of the ones from lego, that said they are also improved(stronger magnet) than lego. The owner of Lifelites/Studly trains is a good friend of mine and in my LUG. -

Havent been on eurobricks in a while but nice to see some of my friends from previous years attending again. So Modulex Guy is there now a 3rd guitar? I have not posted any pictures of my moc I am bringing online anywhere, except for this one teaser shot.. The rest will be on display at brickworld!, lets hope I can get it to run a complete lap of the track by then... EDIT: By the way you NILTC guys that all build big, especially you Dale, really impressed by yalls creations after I built big this year.. -
The write brick does great work, he actually is a member here, not sure if he posts much. I needed some bricks for our lug by brickworld this summer, I contacted Tommy in january of this year, sent multiple emails throughout the spring, he never got back to me, the order showed up 2 days before I left for brickworld, never told me it was coming. I had contacted the write brick a week before brickworld, he had my bricks waiting for me at brickworld.

I was at brickworld this year and saw the kit in action, it is amazing. I was also lucky enough to be able to get a kit. I just got back last night so haven't had a chance to open it yet or upload my pics and video from brickworld yet but plan to soon, I will post when I do. -
My girlfriend and I are all booked ready to go. Can't wait! For those that are thinking about going, just go, brickworld is an amazing experience.

I love your models they are amazing, I played quite a lot of of RCT and loved all 3 of them. Your models are great. Just curious what are you using to build your models? And I would assume you are using POV-ray to render them. Thanks for sharing these great MOCs and thanks for your info on how you are digitally doing the models.

Great idea, I have been thinking about how to do something like that for a while, and this looks great. I was wanting to try and get the font correct from the logo from the movie and yours looks great, not exact but given the size of the logo it looks great.

I love this train, as said before this really blurs the lines between moc and model. All of the detail work on the driving gear is what is amazing to me. Great job on this, by the way this is one of my favorite lego trains, great job!

Geat Greenhouse! very simple but it is a very good MOC. The plants on the tables are great, and I like the table on the backside with risers, reminds me exactly of my grandparents greenhouse great job!

I like the tractor and the trailer a lot. Nice detail work on the pumps valves and controls looks very realistic. I also like the mirror in the bathroom also. The poop part is as said above a very neccesarry but not looked at or talked about point in lego city. Very good looking moc and it is definitely not crap :)

That is a great stage. I love the lights, the lighting columns for the spotlights are great also. The drum kit and the stage background though are the true highlights for me. Great job on this moc

I am very excited for the hobbit sets. I will be getting all of them, Lord of the rings is the first theme I have done that with and all of the sets pictured here for the hobbit are great. I think that the Goblin King set is great, I really like the rope bridge part. also YAY for the different colored leafs for the trees now! I can't wait to get these sets.

I like the new sets pictured so far. There is a lot of fire sets, but fire sells well for the main demographic of lego, the young boys. I do like the new fire station as the last one seemed to be a little spread out. This one seems to be a little more condensed which for my layout would work better. I do also like the buildings that are on fire, especially the abandoned house, I dont ever remember seeing anything like that and it is a good idea. The museum is the set I am most excited about so far. it looks great, although the actual museum part seems a little small but that is easily expanded. I have not been folowing all of the rumors so this is my first look at the new sets and the idea of those suitcase sets looks really cool, not neccesiarly for AFOLs but for someone like my sister that is 6. She enjoys building sets like the smart car, or some of the impulse friends sets, and this looks to be right about her level, I am also interested to see the actual size of the case and how much extra room there is for parts storage.

this train looks great, I like the way they attached the two passenger cars, looks like it will have the cars a lot closer to each other than using the standard magnets. Can't wait for this and I will be getting 2 for sure.

I usually only buy from amazon, toysrus, and s@h. I follow toysnbricks regularly and look usually multiple times daily for deals. I also use camelcamelcamel for price tracking for sets I want, usually multiples of sets I have bought before like uruk hai army and buy them when they go on sale on amazon. I find S@H very rarely discounts sets, but for the sets like exclusives such as the tower bridge, or the Sopwith camel that I hardly ever see discounted I buy those from s@h just for the VIP discount points. I usually do 2 or 3 big orders a year for those big sets so those VIP points really help me especially like I said on the big sets that you rarely see discounted.

Deejay, What gauge wire and connectors are you using especially on your new ones. On the control box it looks like female d-sub connectors, but on the remote switch boxes it looks like small female banana plugs on your new design. I have never seen anything like that and I am having trouble finding that. What connectors are you using for joining the control box to the remote switch boxes like the actual wire that would go around your layout? earler in the thread it looked like you were using male dsub connectors inside of a lego brick, is that what you are using? Edit: are you still using the motors from CD drives? the motor that controls the laser reader or have you found an online source for the motor? Thanks for your help and your design is great.
