  1. And do you care to elaborate on what was said or give a real hint?
  2. Trust me, most of them have pop-culture or folklore basis. TLC may be capable of creating their own monsters but that is not the case at all with these figures beyond their own customized designs.
  3. 75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters! Official Details: Official Set Description (TRU Canada): First Images: Info from just2good here in the General LEGO Discussion: - January 1st, 2016 release date - Over 4600 pieces - $349.99 USD - Opens like the Haunted House - Based on the original films - D2C set - There will still be a modular building next year, don't worry!
  4. Not to mention Zombie Bride & Groom is based from White Zombie. But all other MF monsters and most of the Doo ones seem to be from the classic Universal monster films. Here's a list of what I gathered to help give an idea for sourcing the S14 CMFs: - Swamp Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon - Lord Vampire & Studios Vampire: Dracula - Werewolves (MF & Studios): The Wolf Man - Ghost Train: Unknown (definitely not from the movie by the same name as the set) - Frankenstein Monster & Zombie Studios & MF & CMFs: Frankenstein - Zombie Driver: Renfield from Dracula - Vampire Bride: No clue - Zombie Businessmen (all CMFs): Night of the Living Dead - Mummies (CMF, MF, Studios): The Mummy (although the MF suggests based on the newer Mummy films) - CMF Vampire: Twilight, Fright Night, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Kristy Swanson film) - Zombie Butler: Lurch from Addams Family - Zombie Chef: Unknown - Spooky Girl: The girl from Beetlegeuse (since she wears a schoolgirl outfit in the final scene) - CMF Werewolf: Unknown but I do believe a Scooby Doo movie used this "boyish" design, reminds me of Jumanji as well. I know there are more wolves in horror lore with that specific design but I can't think right now. - Headless Horseman: Sleepy Hollow - Black Knight: Likely one of the older Haunted House (Spook House) films where a knight statue moves, I believe this is widely used in Looney Tunes and Addams Family - Pirate Captain: More off of pirate lore but I'm sure there's a source (hopefully not Disney's Blackbeard's Ghost) - Zombie Cheerleader: Not entirely sure. - Zombie Skateboarder: This and the cheerleader are def zombiefied versions of older CMF figs but their source in horror lore isn't quite so known. - Plant Monster: Not sure since the monster from Little Shop of Horrors didn't swallow a man whole or lest I know - Flytrap lily - Same as Plant Monster - Tree monster: Wizard of Oz which I'm sure took the "Living Forest" concept from something else - Tiger Woman: TLC can claim she's a trainer all she wants but this is a popular choice of bodypaint and of a suit with models. The whip suggests a form of kink. - Shock N Roll: Like I said before this has been made popular by the Beetleguese show at Universal Orlando but source is unknown. - Specter: Ghosts with chains are as common as A Christmas Carol and probably earlier. - Wacky Witch: I swear it's based off of either Disney or Lonney Tunes Witch Hazel. Maybe she's an addition to the Zombie and Tree monster since she controlled the zombie (as a he though) - Skeleton Guy: Movies like Mad Monster Party used dancing skeletons (the idea is as old as the first horror short film actually) - The Fly: Obvious. - Spider Lady: She has an Elvira sense. - Crazy Scientist: This is just a wacked out minifig with an Einstein face. Almost somewhat a take on Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the goggles. Suppose to be the maker of The Fly. - Banshee: Have no clue why she made it here, she is definitely folklore like Big Foot. Not much else source material since I don't recall seeing her in any famous cartoons or films. The jack'olantern bucket reminds me of the old McDonalds Happy Meal buckets and the witch's face kinda looks like one too. These are not etched in stone and just my opinions.
  5. Also... if you need help attaching the chain to the spectre... turn his hands upside down so the more rounded side is facing upward. It's still not easy but it can be done. As for the briefcases breaking this is common since the '80s... just don't open and close them so much.
  6. Bought them all off of Ebay for $78 on Paypal credit, free shipping. Obviously the seller lost money after Ebay/Paypal fees, unless they were lucky to buy them for less than $4. The seller is from Indiana and shipped them assembled with stands, insert, but no packaging (I only keep one anyway and I plan to impulse buy these hardcore for extra parts). There are none I have problems with. I'll agree with some of the original views that some of these monsters are mythological and shouldn't be here (Square Foot) but some of these are downright awesome (love The Fly's molded head). Can't wait for the skateboarder zombie to complete the zombie family. Wonder if they're supposed to have any relation to the previous 2 zombie CMFs, bride/groom, chef, and butler, and the driver?
  7. LEGO.COM just released a 3 set kit. It's out of stock and for some reason just now showing up on S@H: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Scooby-Doo-Collection-5004810?fromListing=listing It also appears with only 3 sets from the Scooby collection in the Fall 2015 catalog. http://shop.lego.com/catalog/displayCatalog.jsp?id=LEGO/3633-usfall-base
  8. Bought the entire series on EBay for just under $80. Free shipping. I could have spent just 4x16 = 64 plus 6% sales tax in WV but I figured to be guaranteed since the seller opened them all, has then onhand and is in the US it was worth the extra $12. After the $8 seller fees and PayPal fees this seller loses.
  9. Scooby Doo will have two "games" for the kids thanks to the NEW October store calendar. Also we will have a Scooby Doo sticker set and poster. Look for those on Ebay! http://cache.lego.com/r/stores/-/media/brand%20retail/stores/calendar/october/5557-oct2015-cal-ds2.pdf?l.r2=-1434099248 Also, Scooby Doo and the CMF14 get a lot of coverage in this edition's Club magazine, all 3 editions so get all 3 of them. Club codes are: PUMPKIN PUMPKIN2 (this was in the Friends edition) MYSTERY (from last edition)
  10. Is there a list for S16 somewhere online? Message me.
  11. TLC is pulling the same sales tactics they did with Scooby Doo. They released a smaller number so they sell out quickly. Now you can find a surplus of Scooby sets in every store. When they sold out the first time it took TLC a few days to give a ship date for new stuff. On the bright side the Trick or Treat set is still for sale ;)
  12. Is that a MF in the first painting?
  13. can someone post the reverse side of the calendar? why is it so complicated to get anything this simple around here? This year completely neglects Halloween in so many ways. We get a "Friends"-like Halloween set (like the Gift shop one from a few years back which was better than this fiasco) and some blurb about Scooby Doo that requires the reverse side... but an angler fish for this month's MM? What about the PAB build for that month or whatever it's called now? Where's the minifigs, the reverse I'm assuming? The MM could have easily have been a Mummy or Skull, I have yet to officially see those except for maybe a few Discovery Center places and Youtube videos. At least we're not getting another pumpkin or Frankenstein monster.
  14. Notice the gravestone? I wonder if this isn't some kind of odd trick or treating at a haunted house with family plot in the front yard. The MF graphics had a cemetary quite a distance in front of the castle and a clone called Zombie Manor put tombstones right infront of the zombie house. THANKSGIVING SET IMAGE - Someone bought the Trick or Treat set early from a Dallas Lego Store on reddit... http://i.imgur.com/hiuDX44.jpg It is soooo much better than Trick or Treat. It's make a great edition for the Haunted House, Mystery Mansion or even the Vampyre Castle. As for "no printed pieces", that's not a printed piece. And that's also a line of BS because I remember specifically the paintbrush from the Easter set being printed with paint. I understand it's supposed to be a kid in a witch or some obscure costume, in that case the skeleton costume from S14 would have sufficed and they could have made another fig for that series and made this set a seasonal and Minifig set. I don't get TLC's company with seasonal sets in the last years, they've all been pretty lame. Last year's was deplorable, especially not using the right coffin bottom. And the stupid cardboard displays and animal sets were just a big load of crap Just wanna say I'm glad I guessed a trick or treat set, I mean it's not that hard. They could have also done pumpkin carving (Easter could have done egg hunting) and added the new headpiece then used orange round single studs and stacked them up a few pieces for the insides of the pumpkin. But that would pretty much just be a rehash of painting Easter Eggs. This is a rehash of the first Thanksgiving dinner set and a slight take on the Valentine's Day set. Keep in mind that historically TLC has never really liked Halloween. I base this on the lack of sets and the lack of coverage in club magazines, you can find more about that at my site below. Christmas this year and every year pretty much gets at least TWO of these sets. They always promoted Christmas which leads me to wonder if Denmark just isn't a huge Halloween country, kind of what a lot of places here in the USA are becoming. Dollar General in my area is already putting out Halloween and they said they also have Christmas stuff already. It's not even September yet.
  15. They didn't even try. They have an all new pumpkin pail and new witch heads and hats. Looks like a very bad Time Cruiser set on crack.
  16. McFarlene toys made that into a set.
  17. Complete collections for $130 on Ebay? I'll wait for these like I did with the Scooby Doo sets and get them a lot less when they're out to the general public.
  18. I like how you're thinking strangely. It would satisfy everyone in some ways.
  19. The Walmart in Canal WINCHESTER, Ohio has only the Mansion left. This is right outside Columbus where the Lego store is so not bad.
  20. Not really. Marvel is a newly acquired property. I recall it happening in the last 5 years when I lived outside of Universal and asked myself, "How does that affect the Marvel zone at Universal Studios?" Well for licensing purposes it didn't and doesn't. But again, Marvel has been established long before Disney and TLC had already released Spider Man sets back in the early millennium. I'm angered at Scooby Doo by the fact I'm angered for the same reasons I'm not happy with TLC about Monster Fighters: They're both largely incomplete and, in case of Scooby Doo's case, unnecessary as a theme. I had the same feelings towards TLC with Ghostbusters. I felt we should have at least gotten the HQ and we should have gotten a hero building (The MF HQ) for MF. Plus the Voodoo Doctor the original Zombies set had in the original videos. For Scooby Doo, the Mystery Machine was really only needed like the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and Back to the Future DeLorean. CMF14 will will fill in some missing monsters but I'm on the same page with many others: we still are missing a Bride of Frankenstein. The Zombies now have 2 female versions, the vampires also now have 2 female versions, but no Frankenstein's monster despite his already now 4 reincarnations. Plus TLC could have re-released another Hunchback and a less cartoony Headless Horseman. Not to mention a complete Grim Reaper rather than the cool statue from Harry Potter. Obviously there a ton more monsters we can speak of. What comes next in the realm of LEGO SPOOKY? What will the Halloween seasonal set be? Perhaps trick or treating or pumpkin carving like painting easter eggs? I hope at least a Ghost ship that's officially monster related and not licensed or from a Castle theme of mostly skeletons. I'm really in love with the Mystery Machine. It's actually one of TLC's better sets, I like it better than the Ecto-1 in many ways which I felt had many issues not trying to look like the real one. I'm only upset that the van actually has a kitchen in it, I literally looked online to see what the van had it in and it was always the full gang so I'm alittle upset by that. Thanks to the minifigure market it's cheaper to buy the two girls and add them to the van than to buy the lighthouse and mystery machine. Hate that we get yet another Mummy set that doesn't really fit into anything (although the chariot from MF is supposed to go into the graveyard I guess). The museum display is cool but it'd be cooler if you could somehow get it to fit inside the castle. I love how LEGO DIMENSIONS is using the Haunted House set in their mock build displays despite the house does look different in the game. I love Ghostbusters slimer, though the flat face does get to me, not found of a terror dog build (though it looks very much like the movie's) - he should be his own animal parts or a Stay Puft minifig though I can see why they done that (it's awesome don't get me wrong but it's not very to scale). Def didn't like a Flying Monkey build - he should be a minifig like he is in the game. Love the sleeve reprints for the new Peter minifig - you bet I'm buying as many of those torsos or arms as I can get for my other GB figs. Anyone else notice you had extra pieces for cool things with the Mummy Museum and Mystery Machine? I'll post more from the other sets as I buy them but here's a few ideas: Museum: You should have a clear light and flashlight as extra pieces. Together they make an older version of the lego flashlight. Machine: 1 extra brown rounded stud, reminded me somewhat of a Scooby snack. Love the extra twig - you could have Shaggy play fetch with Scooby. Not liking the top of the Mystery Machine (the bars) but beyond that and the interior it is one of the better builds I have seen TLC do in a long while.
  21. Failures? How about CHIMA, The Lone Ranger, Prince of Persia, TMNT (I swear Walmart had that whole theme on clearance), not to mention this new crappy Pirate line and their failed almost attempt to tie it to the first line. It looks like crap. I also believe the mine sets weren't a huge hit either and there have been tons of misses in STAR WARS, Super Hero line, LOTR, The Hobbit, etc. Sets go to clearance for a reason and now it seems TLM sets make the cut and those were huge hits upon release. TLM, by the way, along with FRIENDS, have been two biggest sales and marketing driverscin the last few years. I'm not sure Elves or Disney princesses are doing much. Has a Disney Lego set or theme really sold well (don't give me Star Wars, that was just bought by Disney, doesn't count).
  22. I loved the nostalgia feeling I got when I saw the old '90s vhs cassette tape piece in the Mystery Mansion. That's cool Shaggy has different faces between the Mummy and Van sets. You can remove the sink and stove to put the other 2 gang members there. The tree is really cool looking. The van is smaller in length from the Ecto-1 (which I extended my length by almost double so I could fit all 4 ghostbusters and their packs inside) and from the Vampyre Hearse from MF. I would not remind buying 2 just to extended it - it would look about as goofy as my stretch Ecto-1 does now (it looks like a stretched hearse). Not fond of the lighter coloring on Shaggy since the sleeves just blend with the flesh tone (should have a black or gray line to show the end of the sleeve). It makes them look like cheap Dollar General block sets. Scooby is too light brown and his eyes don't always look like they have full printing. I recall someone on here making review videos and they treated the magnifying glass like it's the greatest thing since slice bread. This piece has been in TLC's collection since at least the late '90s when the Adventures theme came about and they magnitized then as they do now. You want neat? I remember the early '90s having Space themes with magnets and 3D decoders where you had red and blue trash can lids that decoded red/blue color codes. That was awesome, maybe also because I was a kid. The lists for 2016 right now don't show additional Scooby sets coming but as we know that doesn't always mean anything especially since none of the Dimensions packs are there. This wave would make a return and it could not. Possibly closer to next August again. But don't base it off of early figures - like I already said, stores are only getting few of these sets in as pieces and once those numbers sell then they'll get more in. My Toys R Us still had at least one set of each except for the Plane (and they didn't look like they even had it in) and that was after buying 4 pieces of each set. That's not already a good sign if they're buying so low quantity and after 2 weeks still have about 50% left not to mention Walmarts around here are taking their time getting these sets out.
  23. Just went to Toys R US in Vienna, WV. He said they order 4 pieces of each set. The Plane has already sold out (they put them out almost 2 weeks ago) yet there was no placeholder for the set itself. They had 1 van, 2-3 lighthouses and mansions and 3 mummies after I bought a van and Mummy set. So no one is buying these in exodus and keeping them in stock queue in the back. Walmarts around here are just now putting them out.
  24. Would you rather they have called her the star brainiac at ZU lol
